Tonight I couldn't sleep, and I wanted to be productive. So.. I created "countdown chains".

If you don't know what I'm talking about let me try to explain (badly)... They are paper countdown chains like you make at christmas. Strips of paper that you glue/staple/tape (may require adult supervision hehe) to form a linking chain. Each day that passes you tear off a link. So you can form a countdown thats interactive and fun for the whole family!

They are 8.5"wide and 1.5"tall. Its saved as a .jpeg for a peice of 8.5x11 printer paper. I have 9 sheets total with 7 "links" on each sheet. Just print, cut the link and build your chain!

If anybody would like me to email these to you please PM with your email address.

(I work second shift so I wont be able to email them until Saturday)

Thanks for reading!

(I forgot to add.. They are Disney themed! I'm sure you knew that)

That sounds cool. We did it years ago when my DS's were young by using old maps of the parks.

My DD7 is ecstatic that her WDW chain is now too short to reach as it hangs down from the balcony...she has to go pull it up to take a link off each morning-- down to 15 links including the a.m. we go!

I just gave her red, black, white and yellow MM color construction paper and a pair of scissors. We love count down chains so much that we had 3 going at once here -- 1 for our trip to Vermont mid-October to build BIL's cabin, 1 for Halloween, and the biggy-- WDW!! Now she wants to make one to count down each day we are there until we head home. I am trying to dissuade her since it seems too sad to me...:sad1:

It's cool that you mention this here since it is easy to forget we don't all have the same traditions and a countdown chain is one of the cheapest and funnnest to me.

I made a countdown chain for my trip this year. I made it in June when I had 150 days to go, it wrapped over my bookcase across the tv and then came back! Now there are only 23 chains left and it barley fits over the bookcase

I can't send PMs yet because I haven't posted 10 times.... My wife will be looking for a chain design, so I'll be back!

I did this for my DD's first trip when she was 6. Now we have been using a "Countdown Calendar". I created it in MS Word and added lots of fun Disney clipart. She loves crossing off the days!
