You should be able to make reservations soon ... but you can't use those points on a reservation that takes place before Sept 1st. ;)

That's correct, confirmed it with my guide last night. We'll be using our AKV points for a stay at SSR in October, and while we can make the reservations once the 7 mo. window opens the stay cannot be before September 1st.
