View Full Version : OT : Millionaire for Life Lottery & My Disney Dreams...

So.. I was looking this new lottery - Millionaire for Life -- the top prize is a million bucks a year for 25 years.

That got me thinking.. Ok. Let's say I wanted to 'live' at Disney hotels. How much would that cost.

Well.. not as much as I thought at first.

A high season rate for a tower room at Contemporary is 550$ a night. So a year there would cost about $200,750.

A high season rate for a basic room at the Grand Floridian is 720$ a night.. So a year there would cost about $262,800.

A million dollars would buy you 11,363 DVC points at 88$ a point.

That's enough points to give you the full year .. EACH YEAR.. in a studio thru 2054 at Saratoga Springs with about 4000 points left over each year for special occasion upgrades.

Ahhh.. to dream.

Of course, you could just buy a house in Orlando. But what fun would that be.

Oh wow - that was so funny!!!!!!!!! Good idea though

Kelly:

Thanks.

Of course I could cheap out and stay at a Value resort... at 131 a night it's a bargain at $47,815 a year.

Hmm.. The Disney Dining Plan is a bargain too. 39$ a day for a year is only $14,235 ... and I'd never have to buy groceries. :)

I'll let you know which resort I choose!
And you can ALL come and stay for a week here or there!!

It got me wondering if you had enough money ... if the DVC people would just 'sell or lease you' the use of the accomodations of the DVC properties for your perpetual use ?

See if I won that, I think I would buy 2 house in Celebration. One for DH and DS and myself and the other would be for guests to come and stay when they visit WDW.

Neat Lottery, but how much are the tickets?
I love to dream but not if they are $100 a ticket.

CanadianGuy
02-08-2007, 06:47 PM
One Ticket = 5$. Three for 10$ or seven for 20$.

I got three for 10$.

If I can't win with three.. I probably won't win with seven either. :)

My hubby is buying a ticket a day!!!!!!!! UGH! He better get something out of it! ha ha ha

The draw is at the end of Feb, right? My DD and I will be at Disney at that point...... maybe I'll get a call in my Pop room from him telling me to stay another week!

CanadianGuy - you'll hear me if I get that call! LOL I'd be screaming so loud that EVERYONE would hear me! LOL

Well I just bought my tickets....CanadianGuy.....You forgot to mention the earlybird draw!!!!! Are you holding out on me?:goodvibes

CanadianGuy

Mama: I know WAY better than to hold out on anyone named "Mama" -- that NEVER ends well. I did honestly forget about the early bird thing. Woops!

Now.. ok.. so lemme get this straight..

If I win the big draw... I owe Mama 100k and Kelly 100k (first year only).

This is getting expensive. :) One of us had better win!

Kelly - I'll be at Pop at the same time - as we discussed. I bought my tickets online at Playsphere so they send me an email if I win. Where can I check my email down there.. hmm..

CanadianGuy. Your first million is almost gone! Instead of the $100,000 can I have a week at the Contemporary Concierge level.:cloud9: That would make me very happy.

Kelly and CanadianGuy....Have fun at POP. I am counting down the days till we leave. I need some Disney Magic & warm weather.:beach:

CanadianGuy,

You have a sister who would most likely want to claim a bit of that prize, families are for sharing after all!! By the way I did buy a ticket 3-$10.

I would like to stay at the Poly in the King Kahennee Suite (don't know how to spell it)!!
So......that first million......you might have to stay at POP!:lmao: :lmao:

Just got our tickets yesterday 7-$20. There are plenty of second prizes for you all to share as long as I win the $1,000,000/year for 25 years! :rotfl2:

Although, I could settle with the second place prizes of 1 million in cash. That would still buy some good DVC points!!!

I beg of any of you.. if you win the mill a year for 25 years.. Take the 17 million payout. It's way smarter.

Proper financial advice and some smart investing and you make way more than 8 million dollars when you start with 17 mill ... in 25 years..

:)

And my darling sister didn't call me to say she did.. So..

That's FUNNY.. cause I'm SO not a dad.. nor am I dad looking..

Hmm.. that's funny.

Trip was great.. four adults. Well.. four very immature adults anyway. We stayed in the 50's .. building 2. We were on the ground floor first room beside the jukebox to the right as you stand facing the jukebox. Room 2101.

I stopped at a Home Depot to get the lime green mickey thing.. but they were a lot bigger than I had anticipated and I never really figured out a way to wear it.

I don't have a lanyard & pin set thing.. and I wasn't about to get one. Apparently I'm very fashion conscious on vacation. Ha. Actually.. I just like to bring as little as necessary to the parks.
