you all probably know this anyway (I don't get near the telly much these days since the start of the bathroom refurb!) but BBCs holiday programme has been axed, last show to air in March! it started with Holiday '69 the programme hosted by Cliff Michelmore and concentrating on new destination Torremolinos.
What a shame, I love watching this show (travel nerd!) and find it better than all the 'buy now' rubbish as hosted on many sky channels, its informative, often funny and the visualisation is as good as we've come to expect from the beeb.
(and the main reason I'm sad, is '*** I harbour a secret dream to be their presenter, now it'll never happen!)

I hadn't heard this Carol ~ Latterly I have only watched the holiday programme when it has been visiting one of the Disney Parks.

Shame though.

What a shame. I remember collegues away on filming trips and the fun of trying to spot them in the report.

It always seemed to give a real taste of the place

That's a pity as I have always enjoyed this programme :(

No doubt they will replace it with some reality tosh that involves D list celebrities with no discernable talent - other than being photographed getting drunk by the paparrazzi :sad2:

I hadn't heard this either, oh what a shame, *** they always showed WDW or DLP at least once a year

I used to like this show, but over recent years, maybe since the death of Jill Dando, it seems to have gone downhill. The BBC should have employed Simon Calder, the travel reporter, to host the show as he is an interesting person and knows his stuff too. Let's face facts, I'm not going to book a holiday just because Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen and his offspring recommend a place that they have been paid to stay at.

I must say Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen didn't do anything for the programme. Shame to see it go.

It was always a sign that Christmas was over when the Holiday Programme started a new series. I think that in recent years it's been on more than one series a year (or it just feels like it!). I suppose everyone does their holiday research online now.

I agree with Gonz recently the programme hasn't been the same, I also think they often tried to cram too much into a 30 minute show meaning you often only had a 5 minute glimpse of a resort or destination.

I wasn't a fan of him either to be honest. Kind of put me off watching it.
Bring back Judith Chalmers and ' Wish You Were Here'.......LOL!! ;)
