Who has used Marriott gift certificates?

Wondering if anybody has used marriott gift certificates earned thru the rewards programs and whether there was any problems. Also, who did you earn it thru. I see that Mypoints has them, and suzykats, and clicktothemagic.

I used over $200 in Marriott g.c. this past October at a Fairfield in CA. No problems whatsoever! I earned them many ways, including milesource, rewards from my visa card, and whatever other programs offered them as rewards (I can't remember exactly which offer Marriott g.c.).

I used them this past summer, and I had no problems at all. I earned mine through Milesource.

The way those infomation sheets read, I've always thought you had to be paying rack rate for the hotel in order to use the certificates. Does the hotel allow you to use it with other "discounts?"

If you are talking about the actual gift certificates that you order through gift certificates.com or order from mypoints, etc then you can use them like cash with any rate.

Now if you order one of the Marriott (hmm can't think of the word here) hotel stays that are considerably more on milesource then there are restrictions.

So just remember to order the Marriott gift certificates or cheques. I have use MANY of them with no trouble. And you can also earn Marriott points through their reward program with these stays.

I joined the marriott reward program about two years ago and make it a point to stay at Marriotts on the way to and from Disney and on any other trips we take. Right now I have close to 40,000 points that I will probably cash in for my mother-daughter trip in the fall.
