What are your dates, and what kind of room are you thinking about?

thanks for your reply. really trying to figure out if a dvc purchase would be a good idea for us as we would really like to stay at poly sometime and was trying to figure out how many points it would stay..the choices would be Christmas week or a summer week. Is there any kind of chart that shows dvc points to stay at a deluxe resort-similar to the points chart for the dvc resorts? thanks again! :confused3

If you primarily want to stay at the Poly or other non-DVC resorts, then you're really not a good candidate for DVC. Here's why.

For a week in July (after 7/5) in a VWL studio (comparable to a deluxe hotel room), you'll need 14 points a night for Sun-Thurs, and 32 points a night for Friday or Saturday. At the Poly, you'd need 36 points a night for Sun-Thurs and 65 points/night for Fri-Sat.

Christmas week at VWL in a studio will take 19 points/night for Sun-Thurs, and 43 points/night for Friday or Saturday. The Poly? 56 points/night for Sun-Thurs, and 101 points/night for Friday/Saturday.

DVC is only a good value for people who stay at DVC resorts, that's what it's intended for. We do get the ability to stay at the other WDW resorts, but I view that as a perk, to be used once in awhile. If you're wanting to stay at non-DVC hotels most of the time, you're much better off paying cash.
