View Full Version : Thinking of coming home. . .

I was born in raised in Long Beach and practically grew up at Disneyland, but we left in 1976 (after the infamous "Dwarf Brawl" ;) ) and I haven't been back since. . .

. . . but, it looks like I'm going to have some money and time on my hands in a couple of months, and I am seriously thinking of winging my way out West and checking out the old 'hood, and paying a visit to my good friends Mary Jo and Teri. . .

Looks like I could make the trip either from Feb. 21st to the 24th. . . or March 7th through the 10th. . .

Don't suppose any of you SoCal DIS'ers would be interested in a Best Coast DIS Meet at Disneyland during one of those time frames?

Both of those times are good for us. :D :D :D
**UPDATE!** 1/1/02 It's a meet!

<font color=navy>Now, that is corn cool!

We'll definitely have to get together and have fun at the Land. Either weekend would be fine with us, though 3/8 is Kelly's b-day, and I'm sure we'll have a sleepover for her with her girlfriends.

teri

Hmmmmm.... are there any good special deals during either of those time periods? That February weekend is the weekend after President's Day, the March weekend is not a holiday as far as I can tell.

Count me in for at least one day. :)

WillyJ, so cool! I think that the February weekend is the choice and I have it in my calendar -- sounds like fun! :D

Either Weekend sounds good to me. I could make it for either the Saturday or the Sunday right now, but as my work schedule comes out I may only be free on the Sat. or the Sun.
Right now it looks good.

See ya real soon,

Larry

Hey WillyJ....I also grew up in Long Beach and left in1979....to Muskogee Ok!!!! WOW!!!! I wish we could be there for your meet, but we just went "home " to DLR in Oct. and I promised my DH a trip to Mexico! By the way, DL has changed quite a bit since the 70's, but the same magic is still there! And of coarse, now they have California Adventure. It is ok, but not alot of magic. Be sure to see the Millionaire show at CA, its soooo much fun! Have a great trip!!!;)

We are looking at the weekend of Feb 22-24 now, it seems to be the one with the best rates and least conflicts. Should be a great time!

We are looking forward to it - will be staying at the Carousel Inn. Got a wonderful rate - $59 a night. Wish I could go right now!!!

Oh Teri! That is a great rate. Me and a few others are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove for either $71/night or $89/night depending on how sure we were going to be there.

I'll have to direct them to this post and see if anyone wants to try and change. ;) We've already changed a million times....LOL  ;) :D

Oh, and one more thing. I kind of worked on Dan Murphy yesterday over the phone. He doesn't have a DISney trip planned (which is very unusual--and quite frankly, SCARY! ) for him. So I asked him to look good and hard for a Financial Seminar ;) ;) ;) in So. California during these dates. :) Feel free to 'encourage' him a bit. ;) :) ;) :)

Dayna (DumboOrBust) and I will be driving out there and plan to arrive on Thursday the 21st. We'll be at the Hilton Garden Inn in Garden Grove (can't change my ressie...I got the cheap rate). We'll be staying until Monday, I believe, and then we may be off to Vegas for a day or two. Looking forward to seeing all of you!

Dan Who? ;)

Come on, Dan. We would love to have you with us. :)

I look forward to seeing you all again! This should be a lovely time for all of us. I just have to figure out the babysitting situation, and I will be all set. Not sure if I am driving or flying at this point -- my husband will not come with us and it is a 7-9 hour drive each way which is a lot for me with the kids.

Oh, no! Before I found this thread, I was seriously considering a DL/DCA visit during President's Week (I just submitted a rate request to Dreams Unlimited). It would be too awesome if there was a Dis meet going on during my vacation. Oh, no! Add me to your list as a "possible" attendee (the thought of getting into any of Dan's photos absolutely TERRIFIES ME!).

teri
01-18-2002, 12:00 AM
Janet, if you don't want your pictures posted, we always respect that choice. :) We would love to have you join us! :) :) :)

(Mary Jo and I have cameras, too, by the way! Even if Dan chickens out, there will be some great pictures. :) )

Dan Murphy
01-18-2002, 12:09 AM
Janet, no fear. :D I do not think I will be doing this trip this time. :( I wish I was, but it does not look like it is in the cards. And please get in Teri's and MJ's pictures, we would love to see them.

Janet, speaking from personal experience, MaryJo is the one you need to worry about with the camera. Do not turn your back on her. ;)

I'm going to Disneyland!! I put the bug in my DH's ear the other day and he basically said do want you want! WooHoo!! Got my room, got my park ticket, and got my flight! I get in on Thursday night at around 5:00, flying into LAX. (that was the best rate) I leave on Monday, flying out at noon. See you all there! Looking forward to meeting new friends and seeing my buddies, too!!!!!!!

This gang of Dis'ers is way too funny! Thanks for the laughs (and warnings)!

My President's Week trip is currently on hold. My husband is having a hard time getting the time off work. Drats. I'm going to keep working all the angles, though. Sometimes a miracle happens.

Janet, I have had some amazingly fun solo trips, without my husband... and he isn't coming this time, either. Kids will be with me. You would fit right in! :)

I hope you can make it. :)

Gosh, gang, you sure are sweet! I still am trying to figure out a way to get the whole family there for some fun during President's Week. I would LOVE to go on a solo trip or with just the kids, but since I had an "extra" week in WDW over the holidays, my husband is being a little bit of a butt about it. Spousal jealousy and all that (hee hee!).

Tia, we were really hoping that you would be more active in helping us plan or anticipate activities for this meet - we truly value your input.

I mean that most sincerely. :)

 You were??? I'm sorry. :( I've been trying to step back so I wouldn't step on anyone's toes. :o

I don't know the DISneyland area very well~~~in fact I get the DL park mixed up with the MK all the time.

Where do we still need help? Do we have plans for Friday night? I'll check back to see where I can be of assistance....gotta run the kiddies to school right now. :)

I'm just anxiously awaiting any plans. I'm so darned excited to be coming to the DL meet, I am beside myself! ;) :D :D :D Will we be seeing Fantasmic one of the nights? I remember doing that in '97. :) :) :)
Also, are there plans for daytime activities on Friday? Thanks! :D

teri
02-01-2002, 05:50 PM
Barb, some of us will most certinly be there Friday during the day... me, the kids, Willy, probably a few others.

Fantasmic is not running right now - under refurbishment. There will be quite a few attractions down for refurbishment, but I don't think we will have any problem finding ways to entertain ourselves. Knowing us. :)

luvdsny
02-01-2002, 07:47 PM
Oh, Fantasmic would have been fun. :( That's too bad. :( I better go and reacquaint myself with the refurb. schedule.

Teri, I have your cell phone number (and you shoul have mine too), so I'll call you when I get to the gates to find out where you are, and then I'll meet you guys somewhere. :) Okay? :D

teri
02-03-2002, 01:45 PM
Tia, I lost your number. I have lost all e-mail before 3 weeks ago, and anything that has been sent since then. I will have the phone, and our radios (if they are on ) will be set to Channel 12, code 15 or 16.

I am quite bummed out today... it doesn't look I will be able to bring my son, and I have to make alternate arrangements for his care while I am gone. He is crushed, I am not happy, but I don't have much choice now, unless things turn around. Only so much that I can manage on my own. :::sigh:::
:(
