I love Disney recipes!! They're one of the few things I actually attempt to cook from a recipe!

I'll be in 3 groups if we go there:
Banana Bread Pudding - Boma
Coconut Curry Chicken Soup - Boma
Breakfast Lasagna - Crystal Palace

Will you be posting pictures from the Valentine recipe swap or could someone PM me pictures that they took of their own so I can get a general idea of how these were done? I want to make sure I'm picturing things right. Thanks!

New England Eeyore

Does it matter to anyone if one of my recipes is no longer made at the Yacht Club? We had it there when we went in the late 90's but they don't make it anymore? If you'd rather something else, I can pick something else. :)

YodasMom
02-01-2007, 08:20 PM
OK, I'm ready with my choices:

Group 1 - LeCellier Chedder Cheese Soup (from Canada)
Group 2 - Prime Time Pot Roast (from 50's Primetime)
Group 3 - Artist Point Berry Cobbler (from Wilderness Lodge)
Group 4 - Butternut Squash Soup (from Boma at AKL)

I always serve a Disney recipe when I'm having company. A lot of people don't know it, but close friends do. It makes me happy!

If what I did for the Valentine's Day Swap is on par with what you are expecting quality wise, than I would like to take the last spot in group 3. I'll let you know what recipe soon. Thanks.
I would have loved to have the cheesecake recipe, but my boys like spinach better. Go figure?:confused3

Sorry Mazda, I didn't see that you weren't listed yet. So I'll take a spot in group 4 please.

New England Eeyore
02-02-2007, 09:08 AM
If you don't have enough people to open more groups but others want more spots, I will give up one of mine - or feel free to move me around to whichever groups to let others get in to a full group if needed.

YodasMom
02-02-2007, 10:07 AM
MickeyP, are you planning to scan or photo the swap items from our first recipe swap for people to see? If not, I would be willing to try to scan the 2 I did and post..........but, the one problem is that I need some techno person to tell me how to transfer them from my photo file to here! That's one reason I don't host any swaps.....LOL!! Once I get it, I get it, but I don't like to read the manual....on anything! Ha! Ugh!!

MickeyP
02-02-2007, 10:25 AM
I wasn't planning on posting pics. I got a lot on my plate until next week. Feel free if someone can walk you through it. I just learned how to insert my pics for selling on ebay. (Embarassing, I know.) It's really easy NOW.

Since this hasn't even been up for 24 hours yet, I don't mind if we have 5 or 6 groups. But the more groups we have, the more likely we will probably need angels. If anyone would like to be on stand-by as an angel, let me know. Like if you really wanted grp#1 and didn't get in.(You can choose a preference, but I obviously can't guarantee anything. And I wouldn't angel you for a group you are already in) Does this make sense?

Sweet Potato Pancakes -Boatwright's-Port Orleans-Riverside

Thanks, AWM!! That was next on my list of priority recipes!! I always meet friends at Boatrights for a breakfast and have those pancakes. They are so good!!

AlexWyattMommy
02-02-2007, 11:34 AM
My Sister's family stayed there last August. I thought this would bring back good memories. She also stayed at AKL during the same trip (They stayed 14 days total, I was sooo jealous) so all those Boma recipes are great too.

New England Eeyore
02-02-2007, 01:03 PM
I just came back from Staples where I picked up my binder and sheet protectors! Hurray for the $3 ink cartridge recycyling coupons - both items together cost me less than $6!

AWM - Those Sweet Potato Pancakes are TO DIE FOR!! I'm getting hungry just thinking about them! If you want an extra of the Boma recipe from Group 1 for your sister's book I'd be happy to make one for you. (I think you're already in my other Boma group if I checked right?)

Dyan - come over to the dark side!

You can put me down as a potential angel as long as I have at least 2 weeks notice before the due date. Of course, if more groups keep opening up I may not be able to resist signing up! Seriously, I'd even angel for a group I was already in if you run into trouble down the line.

As far as posting pictures, what you want to do is upload them to a photosharing site like Photobucket. Choose the "message board" or "email" size when uploading. Once you do that you will see an IMG code underneath your picture. Simply copy that and paste it into a message here and voila, your picture will appear!

AlexWyattMommy
02-02-2007, 01:18 PM
NEE, I would love an extra copy of your Boma Banana Bread Pudding recipe. THANK YOU!!

I love sweet potatoes, but my family does not. I'm going to try halving the recipe for just me this weekend. After my AK swap is done that is.

Mickster
02-02-2007, 01:37 PM
Just to ask this before I go shopping - how many are we making? I know it was a point of confusion in the Valentine's day swap.:confused3

AlexWyattMommy
02-02-2007, 01:42 PM
This time we only make the eight and one of those will be coming back to us. So it says on post one, I swear I'm not making it up.
Which is good, because I only made eight last time and won't be getting one of my own. Didn't have enough paper to make that nineth one.

Mickster
02-02-2007, 01:46 PM
I thought I read post 1 several times and didn't see that. I guess because I'm cleaning my scrap room I'm distracted. Yeah, that is my story! I'm sticking to it. Works for me.

Mickster
02-02-2007, 01:48 PM

I think I need to learn how to read. Thanks AWM. You are good!:worship:

Mickster
02-02-2007, 01:57 PM
As much fun as that sounds (and it does sound like a lot of fun, really), I have to get DS from school in a little bit and my inlaws are coming for the weekend. Sorry... Maybe the next time you clean...:rolleyes1

Of course, I should be cleaning my downstairs! Not my scrap room. But I want to work on my books and I can't do that with the room looking like it does right now! :)

MazdaUK

I'm happy to angel if required but remember I need longer for posting than everyone else (ALTHOUGH THEY'VE GOT THERE PRETTY FAST RECENTLY :FAINT: ) . If the recipe is available online I can replace like for like e.g. if cheese soup drops out then I'll do cheese soup (I'm really  someone got there first - I had my Cm bubble maker at the ready  )

I must try and get some pics available to make you all feel superior compared with my puny efforts.

I'd like to join this one. I could do Coconut Rice from Boma's for Group 4. We loved this when we had it at Boma's. I would really like to see the pictures that someone mentioned as this would be my first swap :) and I'm a bit nervous.

Okay, question. Because I don't want to disappoint anyone.

These are recipes from Disney. Do you want the card to be completely Disneyifed, themed to the restaurant, or themed to the food?

MickeyP
02-18-2007, 10:12 AM
I chose Tie-Dyed Cheesecake, from POP, so I'm doing a 60's theme.
I also chose Tonga Toast, from The Poly, so for that I'm doing a Hawaiian theme.
For my appetizer from The Sci-Fi, I'm doing a sci-fi theme.

MickeyP
02-18-2007, 10:14 AM
Sorry I didn't answer your question. What's the difference between Disneyfied and themed to the restaurant?

AlexWyattMommy

MickeyP

Hey Mazda, what did you do?

PS: There are 50% off coupons in Michael's and AC Moore's ad today.

AlexWyattMommy
02-18-2007, 11:10 AM
Well, the Park Fare recipe I'm thinking Cinderella, but for the Boatwright's I was stuck. I think I will just Disneyfy it. I'm not about to try to make a boat carcasse for the page.

I'm theming mine to the restaurant and to the foods I chose. In the case of resort restaurants, I am also theming them to the resort motif, such as Wilderness Lodge theming, etc.

I knew I should have picked a different resort:rotfl: , but I just love sweet potatoes. So hopefully no one will mind too terribly if the theme doesn't exactly match. I know the restaurant is in POR, but I do have some awesome french flavor paper from SU. Could we pretend it is the French Quarter?

I've used some paper with Mickey silhouettes for most of them (I didn't have quite enough:sad2: so in some cases I used different papers in the same general colour scheme). For the Rose & Crown I used clip art of....a rose and crown (der!) on the recipe and embellished with London stickers (and some have other British stuff like telephone boxes). For the Liberty Tree tavern I went sort of autumnal - red, yellow and green papers with leaf cutouts (TREE - geddit?), but because its also a character dining place I also added a tag with a CM Mickey punch. For both I've used some bits of paper with checks on as I think it looks sort of homey and kitcheny.

I've also used fibres and brads for the first time  But my gluestick wasn't the best, so I got very sticky fingers but had to restick the trailing ends to the backs of the recipes this morning. I didn't like to use sellotape as it doesn't age well (or didn't used to). What glue do you use? I didn't use my CM adhesives as being double-sided I thought they might attract dust, although I suppose I could have used single pieces of tape runner.

AlexWyattMommy
02-18-2007, 01:01 PM
I tend to use tape, but on the back of what every item I am using if I can't use a brad to hold it place.

For Boatwrights you could do a ships wheel instead of a boat or use the idea of the ocean- both would stay in the theme of the restraunt. I am not worried about everything matching the restraunt myself. I will not be looking at mine until after March 3rd when I am finished with throwing the high tea and I have finished the hard week of state tests and my mother leaves- why does everything happen at the same time?

Deb, just wondering.....Have you tried this recipe and is it hard? It is sooooo good that I wondered if it would really turn out the way Palo makes it if I tried it. That should be a fun recipe card to make!!!

Nope, I didn't try it yet, just was so happy to find it! I was going to try it for Valentime's day, but we got iced in...

Sorry I didn't answer before, I just saw the question

I have a question for you. When I read over the Breakfast Lasagna recipe that I thought I was going to use, I realized it was not the version I've actually cooked. That version is much yummier, but it's also much longer - too long to possibly fit on a half a page. Would it be okay if I made a 2 page set for this recipe?

I've posted mine! At least I hope I have......

The PO woman was having a sort of senior moment, so i asked for small packet insured up to £30 and she said "Oh you'll want signed for then" and I said "I suppose so" then noticed she'd stuck £6.75 postage on the item:crazy2: I said "How come its costing twice as much as last time I sent a small packet" and she said "because you wanted it signed for". Then she couldn't get her computer to work and it wasn't recognising the transaction, so the girl next to her (who i think is senior) came over and sorted it out. It was only when I got home I realised she hadn't handed me a receipt of postage. So now I'm panicking until you get it!:scared:

I'm halfway done with this one. I did my meatloaf while watching the Oscars last night and my Breakfast Lasagna pages today. I did do a 2 page set for the lasagna - it really wasn't much extra work - since the recipe was so long that took up most of the space! Now I just have my 2 Boma recipes to do. Hopefully I'll have some more time later this week.

WOW that was fast! I only posted them on Friday, and I've been fretting in case the mad senior at the PO put them to one side while she sorted out the mistake she'd made in the till and left them there! I was all set to go up on Friday if you hadn't received them and had a go :rotfl:

Hope they survived the transit OK. I'm only really early because I needed to take some scrapping to feed my addiction on holiday  , and by cutting everything to size before I went I only had to take the pieces and adhesive - DH said there was no room for even ONE scrap tote in the car:rolleyes1 I had a nice clean EMPTY kitchen table to work on, so I just did a bit in the mornings before we went down to the sports hall - our family are early risers even on holiday, so I had over an hour most mornings to play with my paper :)

Also I allow exttra extra postage time because of the distance - though it seems maybe I don't need to nowadays!

Anybody want share some brain with me?

I really wish I signed up for all the groups. They all look great.

rlovew, what did you print your Coral Reef recipe on? The only inkjet transparencies I've seen are kinda cloudy. Yours looks so clear. And what a totally cool idea.

Scary, isn't it?

I'd share some brain with you, AWM, but I don't think I have enough to spare. I'll check and see if I can find some spare gray matter lying around the house. It had to have fallen out somewhere!

Well mine has turned to swiss cheese. I'm afraid my family will try to put it on crackers.

They are the inkjet transparencies we get at the school. I order them through our warehouse since it is so much cheaper than anywhere else. I think the box of 100 costs me about $5.00 and they are delivered right to the classroom. I have to order some more once our bookkeeper is back. I can't find the box right now to check the brand but I know it is a purple and blue box.

100 for $5? That's just wrong! I went to Walmart, and paid more than that for 10...

Hmmmmm, think you could slip in an order for 2 boxes?

I am not sure of the exact price but it is about $5.00- last time I order- 2 years ago. I will be checking when I return to school next week. There are only 50 in the box though. When I found it I realized that- I do know it is a great price. They may really begin to ask questions if I order too much though. Especially since I have removed my overhead from the room now that I have a projector and smartboard.

I can see what I can do though.

I made my kids the Crispy Rice Sushi today for dessert. They loved it! Thanks for sharing that recipe. I'm sure I'll be making it again...and again...and again...:rolleyes1

I had an idea about another recipe swap, if we do it again. What about each group having different elements of a meal, ie: appetizer, soup, salad, main course, vegetable/potato, desert? Not that they would necessarily be served at the same time...

That's a good idea. I ended up grouping the ones I got in this swap by course in my binder - we ended up with a pretty good smattering - just a little low on the side dishes.

Thats's what I thought and was afraid of.

I will check with my husband tonight and make sure it isn't in his car or something stupid (He gets home and gets the mail from the box before I do).

Our post has been a bit meagre on account of the public holidays (Fri and Mon) for Easter. We didn't get anything decent yesterday so I'm hoping for a nice surprise when I get home.

Well, nothing last night, but they came today :yay: And they look even better than their photos! Good news is there's enough pockets left for the seasonal recipe swap as well. I've made a cute cover for the folder which I'll try to post sometime when I'm not working :rolleyes
