ESPN "The Weekend"

28 days to go for us. We leave Weds. Feb 28th to March 4th. Staying at POP for the first time.

My dh chose those days because he heard mention of ESPN days. What exactly happens on ESPN weekend, by the way? I do recall it being at the Wide World of Sports Complex, correct? If you can share any info, that would be great :)

ESPN the Weekend takes place at MGM studios. The Sports Complex will have Braves Spring Training.

I earned a trip to a conference for work and DH is thrilled to be able to enjoy the festivities at MGM!

we will be there 2/24-3/4(going two days before what my ticker says). This is our 3rd ESPN the weekend. My DH and DS Love it, and I love WDW so it's a win win situation.:woohoo:

Disneybride03...we were originally staying at POP. AP rate for 4 nights in the 60's building was 409.00.

MY DW gave me this ESPN trip for Xmas. We actually wanted to try POP and figured this would be a great time. But as it has gotten closer, I just figured with the AP rate at CBR ( 124 a night + tax ) it was worth it to stay at CBR.

We are POR fans. BUT with the food court remodeling at POR ongoing, we figured it was the time to stay somewhere different.

What really made the decisison easier was that i was able to save an extra 98.00 on the rental car. I have had National EA for 217.00 since January 1st. Then this week it dropped to $119.00.

Also, my DW's b-day is March 7, so she surpised me with ESPN Weekend Xmas gift, I am going to make this a b-day gift for her. It will be our 1st stay at CBR since our honeymoon in 1993. So i think she will be surprised when she sees us pulling into CBR instead of POP. ( Hopefully.)

That is fantastic, how lovely! She will be surprised! Well, my TA said CBR wasnt available anymore with my pin3 code whatever it is! See..I could have changed this last week...a CM said I could get a water view for $120 w/the code..but couldnt change it only TA could!
I was going back and forth...thinking my mom and DD would like POP...just tried and cant do it. Only POR and FQ...but more $$...dont get it!!

we would have had no issues with staying at POP. From everything i have read, i think it would be an enjoyable stay. we just got lucky and CBR was still available at an AP Rate.

From what i see, there are no Bears set for ESPN Weekend. I know in years past, Urlacher was there but i dont think so this year. Also, now that Millionaire has closed, I am 1 year TOO LATE for the Millionaire Sports version. I think that would have been a blast.

BUT, a great time is still to be had. Hope you guys have a great trip too !!!

By the way, what part of Chicago are you from. ?? We are 1 mile from Midway Airport on the southwest side.

kinggoofy..we are actually sw suburbs near Lemont....I know your location! I actially grew up in Cicero...but dont like to admit it...lolwe love flying out of Midway...we actually got a great deal on Priceline , out of Ohare this time!
Have a great time at CBR...would love to know how that resort is!! Have a wonderful trip:)

We have friends that live in Lemont. They live in the Timberline Subdivision right behind the McDonalds on 127th & Lemont Road.

We also have friends who live in Ashbury Subdivision and a few more who live near Old Oak Golf Course.

I know those areas...you can usually find me at the Target in town~~or having coffee at the Pancake Cafe.....all together...."It's a Small WOrld.." lol My DH is having fun rubbing it in abt ESPN weekend and how Mike and MIke will be broadcasting at the Brown Derby etc....I will have to go just to get him a hat! Do you know if they sell ESPN;;DIsney hats???? I hope your wife is surprised when she sees all those Palm Trees at CBR!!!

:) My son & DIL will be there- she works for ESPN Radio & he is going down a day or so later...lucky for him ESPN/Disney is putting them up @AKL. They asked us to come down...unfortunately plane fare is ridiculous last minute; besides we just came back from our week's stay 2/5 - 2/12:rolleyes1

We'll be heading down in 10 days!! We'll be there 3/3-3/10. DH is going for a conference for work and it happens to be 3/5 so we figured we'd go down a few days early to enjoy the ESPN weekend... plus we're Steelers fans!!!!
