Here is one of the things I just got in for dd, she loves it! I do have a quick question though. We will be going in December and would it look weird to put leggins or jeans under it with out any fringe or fabric? The seller didn't offer pants or anything, and I can't make them, but dd really wanted this one.

No, it actually looks quite cute. We wore a lot of these type dresses on out trip in January. I'd put either long or short sleeved top under dress that color coordinated, and a pair of plain jeans. If the weather got hot, we just slipped off the jeans, if it had gotten super hot, I would have taken her to the bathroom and taken off the t-shirt as well. I thought it looked adorable. She got tons of compliments. (We were at Seaworld and it was a fish print.)

Can you sew? That's probably your best bet to get it at that price. Just the material alone might be close to $20 so if you bought it from someone else they'd add on $$ for the time it took them to make it.

I don't know that I've seen fabric with just Belle on it. Has anyone else?

Your daughter sure looks adorable!!!

I need to start sewing some outfits for my daughters!

I haunt Ebay for Disney fabric. The closest I've come is a knit with Mrs. Potts and chip on it. Try looking for sheets.

I made it. I think it is cute and so does DD. She wanted a Tinkerbell but did not want all the "itchy stuff" on it. This is much cooler to wear in the summer that a "costume".princess:

Dopeysgirl, I would make sure your top layer is fuller than the bottom one so it puffs out right. It sounds really cute, I can't wait to see it!

Disneyworldmama,
I went into Walmart and bought a pillowcase that had Cinderella on one side and Belle on the other. You might be able to get a pillowcase like that and cut it out and fuse it to the front of a pillowcase dress or a pair of overalls/skirtalls. You cannot use the pillowcase I bought for a dress because it doesnt run the correct way. :sad2: If I remember correctly, it was around 10-13 dollars. I just got it to cut the pictures off and use them on something else. It is extremelly hard to find Belle, Jasmine, and Jesse. I've tried... And of course those are the ones my daughters want....

I hope this helps.:goodvibes

Hello Everyone...okay here is my very first attempt at creating a patchwork skirt for my little one. This took me FOREVER and a day to complete. There are definitely some issues with it (little longer in places, gathers not quite straight, etc) :confused3 but who cares right??? My daughter loves it and had to put it on before I even completed the waistband. :lmao: Anyway, just thought I would share it on here and see what all you pros think! I am a novice when it comes to sewing so I was pretty excited it actually is wearable. Hahahahaha

(These were just some quick pictures, I will have to take some better ones once I finish the tank top that will go with it. As you can see DD loved to twirl in it). :goodvibes

It is cute! If you don't tell anyone you made it, they will never know.:thumbsup2 I think you did a very good job on it and I love it and the shirt she has on!

I am so jealous. I just bought this same fabric from Ebay for way more than it costs I'm sure. Did your store have anymore left? I'm wondering if it's worth the hour drive to mine to see if they have it in stock...Hmmm

piperpizzaz- thanks for the tip about fuller at top for tulle skirt. im actually kind of stuck.....the only skirt i know how to make is the twirl skirt that i posted directions for a while back where you have 3 layers (2nd being twice as long as first, 3rd twice as 2nd, then you gather and sew all layers together). anyway, i like the look of graciegirls halloween skirt several pages back (short top layer, tulle showing as middle layer, then longer bottom layer), so my quesiton is could i achieve this skirt using the directions i have for the twirl skirt? how should i modify? please someone help? this is so hard for me cause im visual, not a figure it out kinda person.

also, ive never sewn tulle before. will it hold a stitch? it seems to me that the needle would go right thru the tiny holes!!

and one final tidbit....i went to walmart about 1 hr ago (sorry in advance to all those who dont have walmarts w/ fabric), but they had (not even unwrapped from plastic yet) tons of new disney fabric! i bought some ariel- turquoise background with her swimming, on rock, etc. they also had some new cars, an awesome princess (belle snow white, aurora, & cindy) that was just all of them, all over. i didnt get it because i dont know how to work w/ fabric that is an all over print like that (dont want to behead anyone on a skirt!:rotfl: ) they also had some new mickey. one in paticular brought gracie girl to mind because it was funky (still raving about those awesome funky halloween skirts!) and i thought castle creations could really work up something funky w/ it. it was pink background, with old school mickey (ya know the side body profile) and it had mickey mouse written in cool letters. i kept thinking i wish i had my camera in my purse so i could post pics when i told you all about it!:rotfl2: oh well, tomorrow is another day!:rotfl2:

anyway, those of you w/ walmart fabrics, keep your eyes peeled! and please someone help me out w/ some ideas for a cool tulle skirt pattern/ideas.

(gee, my post probably takes up a whole page!:sad2: sorry!)

I got a good tip for making ribbon jeans that I thought I'd share. For safety (I guess the ribbons could get caught on slides etc.) it was suggested to attach the ribbon, on the bottom of the jeans, to velcro. Not only would it "release" if it got caught on anything, you could also make other ribbon strips to change the look/theme of the jeans. Good idea IMHO!!

Ohhhhh great idea to change the look with the same pair of shorts/pants.. Safety wise I am sure mine would rip right off lol

Ok, this is my very first pillowcase dress and it's all been sewn by hand. I don't plan on using a machine to secure the designs, so I used HNB Ultra and I will zigzag the edges by hand eventually. I need help deciding what color stitches to use?

dd loves it!! I guess that's all that matters, and I have to admit I'm pretty proud of it too! BTW this was an actual pillowcase, an old one that I was about to throw out then I realized "hey, I know just what to do with that"!

I don't know where you are in NJ, but if you are near North Plainfield or willing to make the drive, they have Fabricland there and it is HUGE-it is one of the largest fabric stores on the east coast. I use it for fabrics when I am doing a customers home. They are awesome. They also have a website http://www.fabricland.com :thumbsup2

I forgot to add, you can't buy online from Fabricland, but if you go to http://www.jandofabrics.com/ they have a great selection that you can buy on the net. They carry Disney fabrics under the novelty section and they are pretty quick with shipping-I have used them before also.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure if they have kids fabrics or not at Fabricland. I kind of have tunnel vision since I am in there strictly for upholstery fabrics, but I know they do carry other fabrics (not just upholstery). I'm just starting to get into sewing clothes myself, so on my next trip I will have to check it out.

Hi everyone! I used to post here regularly about eight years ago when I was planning our first WDW trip (I can't believe it has been that long). I've lurked off and on since then, mostly when we've had an upcoming trip. Anyway, like so many others, this thread has lured me out of lurkdom. I LOVE seeing all of your work! Everyone is so talented and creative!

I've been hard at work on custom outfits for our July trip. I just finished an outfit for my 7 year-old daughter using the flag/kids fabric from Hancock. It is selling quickly at my local store! It is called "Friends around the World" and it is by Spectrix. I am in that store weekly, so if anyone is really stuck and can't get it, I'm sure I could get some for you. I want to say it ran around $5/yard at regular price.

I'm going to try to post a picture of the outfit I made for my DD1 after I get the matching bow made today.

Hello,
Just wanted to let everyone here know that they have been such an inspiration to me to get back on the sewing machine. I just finished one of 4 scrap books for our 2008 disney trip. I have 4 adopted daughters. I still need to craft up 4 autograph books, and 3 more scrap books. Now I will need 4 pillowcase dresses, 4 custom overalls, and 4 embelished dresses (from walmart, K-mart, or somewhere I can find something inexpensive I can make cute!). My husband may kill me, so if you don't hear from me soon, please come looking for me okay.

Disneyworldmama your bows are great. Far from boring. You could open a store and sell them. I have been looking on ebay at some very similar and they sell for around $7-$15 EACH! ! !

Obsessedwiththemouse, yes the ears are very lopsided. They look horrible. You should never embarass your child like that and make her wear that god aful outfit. As fast as you can package it up (but take lots of care and caution)and send it right to me. I will do you a favor and put it on my child to save you and your darling daughter any trama caused from the crooked ear. LOL! Just kidding. Thats a darling outfit. LOVE IT! It looks great. Tell your darling daughter to wear it with pride.

And lastly, a trick for those lil ladies with baby fine hair that want to wear bows, get the single prong alligator clips and line them with the rubber like shelf liner that you can get from the dollar store in a roll. You know the stuff that you line the shelf with so that your glasses don't slide all over. It's kinda squishy and has holes in it. Non slip. Cut it to size of the clip, match the color if you want, but I just bought a cream and a black. It works wonders for my fine hair beauty. Even if a lil hangs out, the big bow usually covers it up.

Now, let me get off this dicussion board and off to my craft area of my dining room. Thanks for so much ladies.

-Michelle

Yes boys are hard to find. I was actually looking at the red Mickey one you have right now a week ago. It's very cute. My DS is 3 and it's hard to find disney custom clothes for him to match his sister who is a very small 7 YO.

Ok... We need a Hancock Fabrics in NJ.... anyone know of any stores in NJ besides Joanns, Rag Shop and Walmart?

It's worse here in DE. We don't have Ragshop (although I've gone to one in PA), Hancock was only here less then 2 years and is closing. We have a Super Joannes that is a dump!! You can never get any disney unless you are then when it comes in. They have absolutely NOTHING except Pooh right now. And Walmarts is doing away with fabric. It's going to be prepackaged in 5 yard lots.

I need some net ruffle that I've only been able to find at Walmarts. It's like craft net but really stiff. It's used in crinolines. I like them for the dresses I make Kirsta. Now I can't get it. I tried online, but the searches just come up with places to buy crinolines.

I'd love to see a pic of the fabric! I looked online, but couldn't find anything. I might have to make a trip to the fabric store soon.

Can somebody post a pic of the fabric? Do you know if it can be bought at their online store?

I did NOT buy the fabric. not yet anyway. Maybe someone else did, or took a picture of it. Sorry, but good luck

I am south of Merritt Island, and try to stop in whenever I'm up that way. That was where I found the Minnie dot fabric for $1.20/yard.

Oh...so it's you who bought it all....:rotfl: the lady that worked in there, looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for it. And without sounding like a tart, that store is a dump!! LOL

So, is it wrong I want that children with flags fabric since:
A. I have not even seen it yet.
B. I don't have a daughter but, am thinking of hording it on the off chance I do have one.
:rotfl:

dopeysgirl, I am by no means a skirt (or sewing expert) but, I think you kind of have two options that would work well. The first one is do the top how you were going to do the bottom layer. A straight panel gathered around, just shorter and more gathering (longer panel). The second one is more like the halloween skirt (which I LOVE too btw, I want one for myself!) That skirt is cut more like a circle to begin with. That way it has less gathering but still sticks out. I think that pattern someone linked a little ways back on "you can make this" would work great. You could also do a search for circle skirt patterns. I don't think the twirl skirt would work the best because of the layers witht he tulle, I think the top layers might hold the tulle down strange.
GL!

I have received a couple of private messages about the Kids around the World fabric. I am so sorry, but I don't have enough posts yet to either reply to private messages or post a link to my photos of the outfit made with the fabric and I have no idea how to insert photos into my posts other than doing it with a link to Shutterfly.

I shouldn't have spoken up until I had more posts, so I apologize. I'll post to some other threads and get my post count up. Please bear with me until then.

There was an outfit on e-bay a few days ago using this material. I would have bid but it was the wrong size. It had a halter top made from the friends around the world fabric with the coordinating sayings making a ruffle at the bottom of the halter. It had denim capris with mickey heads made to look like flags from the different lands in Epcot. Very cute.

My Joann's isn't carrying the "Friends" fabric. Neither is the local Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby. I've only seen it at Hancock's.

I was in Hobby Lobby today and they have much of the Disney licensed fabric on clearance. I bought Nemo and Buzz Lightyear fabric for $3/yard!

Here's a picture of the outfit I made. There are all kinds of things you could do since it has two coordinating fabrics. I couldn't get a very clear photo of the second fabric with my little digital camera. I haven't yet figured out how to focus well up close.

I also have a black tank top that is going to have a globe embroidered on the front. It's at the embroiderer's place right now and won't be finished until next week. I like to have two tops for every bottom because my girls are always only one Mickey ice cream bar away from trashing their shirts, LOL.

My DD1 just informed me that she doesn't plan to wear this outfit at Epcot!

There is so much for little girls and I have seen just a few for boys. My Ds will be 3 (almost 4) on out trip and I know he would love to have special outfits, too! DD has a princess or Minnie dress for every day but one, and I will make something for that day! Has anyone ever tried to make a Prince Charming costume?

I know what you mean! I fished out my machine yesterday and literally had to clean about 1/4" of dust off of it with the vaccum... and no I'm not joking!!! I guess I'll have to invest in having it cleaned and oiled. It's the kind that folds into a table that I've been using as a night stand for over three years, so that tells you how long it's been since I've opened it! But, I figure having it cleaned and serviced will cost much less than a new one... although a new embroidery machine does sound nice!

Good luck to you!

They make some that you iron on. I just bought some today to add to dd's RnRC shirt. I've never used them, so I don't know how they'll hold up.

I love the boys outfits. That is similar to what I do, I just don't do the mickey heads. They are super easy and quick compared to the overalls!

My son always wants to see Charlie and Lola when we are at disney! That would be a fun, cute pair of overalls. I might work on an outfit and I LOVE the faces of the world fabric, or whatever it might be called. If I had a girl I would be so broke! I spend enough with just a boy!

I have been blinging a boy's Pluto shirt for my DD (to make it more girly) and I have been using Jewel Glue by Delta. Not sure how well it will hold up but it does say to gentle machine or hand wash and AIR DRY. I think Aleene's makes one too.

Charlie and Lola would make great characters to meet and greet. I like Lola--she is small and very funny.:lmao:

I just recently made a Cinderella outfit for my daughter. Those shoes would go perfectly with it... Here it is!

I was at The Children's Place today and found some dark wash ***sparkle*** denim flare jeans for girls sizes 6mos. - 4T. They were on clearance for just $7.99!!! These DARLING jeans are TOP quality and selling for the same price you'd pay at Walmart! I forgot to check if they had larger sizes, but I'm sure you can call your local TCP to find out.

These jeans are EXACTLY what I was looking for to embellish and put under a Tinkerbell twirl top I'm making for my baby girl. They just scream Disney!! Think pixie dust, diamonds for princesses. They just add that *extra special* disney touch to any outfit!

They look wonderful as is, and would look even better with ribbons, ric rac, applique, or ruffled flares...whatever you can dream up. I thought they'd be SUPER cute under the pillowcase dresses alot of you are working on.

That outfit would be perfect. Where did you find that fabric?

LadyRob--

The main part of the fabric (blue on white) is called a pique fabric, which looks to me to be a blend between cotton and corduroy. Here's a link to where I purchased it:

http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?Shopper_id=648526174913648&Store_id=198&page_id=23&Item_ID=5914

The white dots on blue backround is made by Michael Miller. I just found that one on Ebay. Type in Michael Miller Dumb dots and it shoudl pop up.

They make some that you iron on. I just bought some today to add to dd's RnRC shirt. I've never used them, so I don't know how they'll hold up.

I purchased some iron on ones from Hobby Lobby. It was a premade design, but you could easily make your own design with them. I have washed the shirt several times and dried it by mistake once  and they are holding up great!

I am not Ceilia from todays*child*creations. She made those AK safari outfits for my girls and I sent her our photo. She asked if she could use it for her listing and I said yes. I was very happy with the dresses and think that she is a really nice lady. I only wish I had her talent when it comes to sewing. I also wish I had the time.

Happy Birthday design_mom!

Has anyone down a pirate themed tulle skirt? I was thinking about having a friend make one for my dd who will be 8 for the pirate and princess party.

Would you go with the red/white striped fabric for the top layer, black tulle, and than white fabric for the bottom?

Any suggestions?

That sounds good the way you have it or you can find a pirate print for the top, tulle in the middle, stripes on the bottom. Use the stripes to make a matching corset top to go with too and just wear over a short sleeve tee.

I posted this before, but since we're talking pirates pirate: I thought I'd post it again. I bought this set for DD for Pirate night on the cruise and for MNSSHP. It's more of a costume than an outfit, but I think it's so cute! Maybe it will give you some ideas.

They have the skulls & roses at joanns but are sold out of the map print. At least here anyways. I used the skulls & roses last year for several pirate costumes I made. Some people thought it was a bit harsh for little ones but I liked it (dark sense of humor) and it would be perfect for an 8 yr old!

There is this great plack and white simple skull material, I got a joanne's. I would use that for the top and put an embroidered mickey on the front side of the skirt, put red white and black tulle for the middle and the bottom put the red and white striped. Oh I think I may make one of those!!!

It was a big seller on Ebay so I guess not too many people minded the skulls! Speaking of Ebay...My jewelry sale starts at 5pm EST today and ends monday am at 9EST. I used markdown manager to discount every item in my listings so if you're accessory hunting I do have lots of jewels!

WELL, I've been told that markdown manager doesn't always work the first time & they've had problems with it since they've started it. I had to reschedule it for 7:00 and hope it works at that time. I did tell everybody 5:00 so whoever wants stuff you can go get it now and I'll just change the invoices myself to reflect the 15% discount before I invoice you. I changed the end time to 12:00 on monday as well. That should be enough time for shopping!!! I don't want to see any fighting!!! :rotfl2:

I can tell you are a scrapbooker by the last dress. The combinations are adorable, where did you get your fabric?
LOVE the monkey dress too, we love monkeys! That pattern would make a really cute Wendy dress.

I got the fabric at Wal Mart, actually, though I've seen it at JoAnn's also.

That monkey dress was her birthday dress - she's crazy about monkeys! And that pattern would make a good Wendy dress - will have to keep that in mind, thanks!

did you use a pattern for the last dress or make it up yourself?

Actually, it was a combination of patterns - the bodice is New Look 6613 and the skirt is McCall's 5084

Hey girls! This may be a bad idea (if so I can delete this, just let me know), but I thought of a bit of a $ saver on the youcanmakethis patterns. We could do a swap. I haven't purchased one yet, but there are several I want and I know others were looking for some too. So if you have one (or 2;) ) you'd like to swap and have one (or 2;) ) you'd still like to have, let me know which ones. You could PM me if you'd like. Or if you haven't purchased any and are in the same boat I am, wanting more than one, maybe I can purchase one and so can you and we'll share. Just an idea. If anyone is interested let me know!

But she said she is never going to wear the princess ones, so I guess I will be listing those on ebay! At least it will be more money towards the cruise, or boutique clothing or what ever else I find I must have!!!:rotfl2:

You can tell once the markdown kicks in but as of 7:18 it hasn't kicked in yet. I called them, they're having a problem getting it to work for all sellers and they said it could be 6-8 hours. Everyone who wants to shop, go ahead and I'll just apply the discounts to your invoices. Make sure that if your Ebay ID is different than your DIS Id that you send me a quick note so I can discount your 15% before invoicing!

Thanks everyone for looking, buying, requesting special stuff, & the fast replies!

They have the skulls & roses at joanns but are sold out of the map print. At least here anyways. I used the skulls & roses last year for several pirate costumes I made. Some people thought it was a bit harsh for little ones but I liked it (dark sense of humor) and it would be perfect for an 8 yr old!
My DD7 loves Jack and I just found pink skull and crossbones fabric at Joann's. Not sure what I'll make yet, but will definitely use it!

I think I love Jack! I just saw that fabric last weekend. "Hmmm- what could I do with that" definitly crossed my mind! I keep buying fabric but not sewing. Need to quit shopping & start sewing. There's is definitly nothing wrong with a pink girly pirate. I have a bunch of the skulls & roses left so we might have a repeat or very similar pirate this year. If I think of something to do with the pink I'll let you know!

I've been following the conversation about older kids wearing boutique clothes and honestly think that it depends on your child. My older kids love to wear boutique style outfits. And I ended up making them all matching outfits because it's easier for me to spot them in the park. Here are a few outfits I have almost finished and already finished to give you a few ideas for the older kids. The outfits don't contain nearly as many ruffles as I would use if it were for just my youngest daughter.

The first outfit has colored velcro and the leg ruffles can be exchanged for flowers or other decorations to match other shirts. The shirt shown just has an iron on ariel on it.

Hi, I was actually going to use this as the Epcot Ball. As, I'm hanging my head in shame...I haven't made it yet...LOL, I was going to cut it into a circle and sew with black criss-crosses over it so it looks like the epcot ball, and applique in the epcot font, the word Epcot across the ball. My girls never have a special outfit to wear there and I was hoping to make this for them. Well, I still have 2 months left...before we leave...LOL

Oh my word..... everything has just been too, too cute!!! Add me to the list of those that need to stop buying fabric and start sewing. Nice work everybody.

Okay, does anyone know where I can find a pattern for a full (I'm talking VERY full) petticoat? I saw a pattern on YouCanMakeThis, but it isn't what I'm looking for. If you go to eBay and do a search for pettiskirts, you'll see what I'm talking about. Don't ask me why I want to make one of these. I know my oldest won't wear one, and I don't think my youngest would either. I just love them though.

I have been dying to make one as well. The ones that I see online are a little too expensive for me, but I saw one that was made out of 30 yards of chiffon. Unless the seller gets the chiffon for like 10 cents a yard, I don't see where they would be making a profit. I think one day I will try one...

We saw this really cute Mickey themed Halloween fabric at JoAnn's the other day. Deep blue background with the characters dressed up and pumpkins all over. I did a search on their website and could not find it- sorry. Wish I'd had it last year!

Ok, we've been away at Disney for the past 2 days, so I'm a little behind in this thread, so don't know if it's been discussed. But, I did buy some either deep blue or dark purple (can't remember now) fabric at Hancocks about a month ago that had Mickey Halloween on it. I got it for only about $2/yard. I'm hoping to make some Halloween dresses for the girls out of it.

I saw 30 and 35 yards of chiffon in the descriptions, too. One website had a triple layer petti made out of 60 yards. One of the sewing forums I was on said that didn't mean that 30 (or 35 or 60) full yards of fabric was used to make that, but instead refered to how long the bottom layer was. That still seems like an awful lot to me though. One spot had a general description which sounded a lot like the tiered twirl skirt pattern that has been given out on this board. The differences were that there were more tiers and the tiers were not the same width. The got smaller (skinier) as they got toward the bottom. Like the tiered twirl skirt though, each tier was almost double in length to the one above it. It also looks like most of these have a drawstring waist rather than elastic. Anyway, that is about all I have been able to find out. So, I guess if you cut a yard of chiffon into strips, you could get quite a few yards out of a single yard. I hope that makes sense.

I was dying for one of those pettiskirts for my DD2 who is almost 4. I looked at Kaiya Eve, which is one of the boutique brands, and then tried to price out fabric for making it myself. I ended up buying the boutique one! Even if I had been able to find the soft chiffon that the skirt is made out of, which I couldn't, it would have required so much of the fabric that I would have been close to spending on fabric, and the worth of my time, what I ended up paying for the skirt. It's incredibly well-made, machine washable and that crazy little skirt has received more compliments than any other of her boutique oufits. She adores it!

Actually, when I was trying to hunt down a pattern, I visited a few sewing forums. Several people posted that they had made one and will never make another one. It was just way too time consuming. The vast majority of posters felt that this was one item that was worth paying for rather than making it. However, that didn't really discourage me. It challenged me more than anything else. Like I said, I just want to make one. I don't necessarily want one for my girls. I hope that makes sense. So, I do understand what you are saying, and KaiyaEve pettiskirts are amazing. Makes me wish I was a kid again. Just beautiful.

MiniGirl, I totally get what you're saying. Sometimes I love a challenge like that. It does make me feel better to know that other sewers felt the same way I did about making the skirt, especially considering what a splurge it was for me to buy it.

Hey all of you making Epcot appliques w/ the silver Ball--I found a vintage Epcot Center coloring book when I was cleaning my house today. They have some pictures that would work great for applique patterns. PM me if you'd like me to scan the ball for you.

I love the pink and black mickey...Boy I see fabric and my wheels start turning. I was so excited I got my first shipment of the flags/kids fabric. Yea!!! Anyhow, I have officially begun my pettiskirt. I decided to do a red and white one. I have to take a break from it, because I'm beginning to see red!! LOL. I should have it finished tonight and will be taking photos tomorrow. Please don't laugh when you see it..:rotfl2:

Will your dd wear the pettiskirts alone with just a top or under twirl dresses/skirts? Where did you order yours?

This is my dd in her pettiskirt from FabbyGabby. This picture was taken in December 06...she was just 11 months old. The Kaiya Eve skirt is still a bit too big.

I LOVE all the ideas and sharing going on in this thread. I have been inspired to make an outfit for my DD for our upcoming trip- just have to figure out which type she will like best.

I did prince phillip for my son's first halloween. There is a picture way way back, probably within the 1st 15 pages. I didn't have to sew much of it really.

DD will probably wear them both ways, under twirl skirts and on their own....probably will add a pair of bike shorts underneath.

We ordered black, white, and pale pink. I got all three in style 715 childrens (adult 740). I will probably want more when these arrive, but figured I would cover the basics, lol! We wear LOTS of custom clothing and I think wearing these underneath will make her skirts extra special!

She looks absolutely adorable in that skirt!

My DD2 wears her pink Kaiya Eve with either a white long sleeved tee with rhinestones around the neckline or with a white tank with rhinestones around the neckline. She has the high-top Lelli Kelly sneakers and she wears those with it with either white bike shorts or white lace trimmed leggings. She'll wear a jean jacket with it in cooler weather. I'm telling you, we can't walk more than a few yards anywhere when she's wearing that outfit without someone commenting on it. She twirls and spins and says she is a princess. It has been worth every penny that I spent on it to see her enjoy it so much.

I made the cape out of a silky fabric, just eyed it and cut it, added the collar and a tie. That was pretty simple. Then took some grey heavier fabric and cut it to make the vest like, I actually just laid one of his shirts on top and cut around leaving room for the seams and of course not adding sleeves. Sewed on black felt (I think) for the belt and made boot covers out of felt also, like the costumes from the disney store boot covers minus the elastic on bottom. Wore a black turtleneck and black pants under it. If you want for disney then maybe a tshirt and shorts would be better. I crafted the shield and sword from craft foam. We had the larger one from the disney store that I think I traced the dragon from then cut with an xacto knife.

Sorry the pictures aren't great. I forgot they were pictures of pictures, since he was so little it was easy to do.

Thanks, I found all your boy posts. I had forgotten about them because this thread has been going for a long time. For Prince Charming I will need to make the coat- I will probably just embellish some pants.

This is beyond cute. Your dd is beautiful. I long to adopt, but dh says we are done. I feel there are a couple of kiddos in Vietnam waiting for us to come get them though. Everytime I see an Asian child though I feel those tugs on my heart strings. I've been talking to dh about it for over 10 years though, so I just don't see it ever happening. Anyway, I digress......

Just got it in my email. The places to shop for fabric are getting fewer. I wish the fabric companies, like Springs would let us order from them.

I know this thread is mainly about clothes that you'd wear out-and-about, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I went to Joann's today and bought some patterns for future projects. I was strolling through the fabrics when I came upon some with Russian nesting dolls. (We adopted from Russia so it caught my eye.)

Then -- a few bolts down I found the most *adorable* Tinkerbell pajama fabric. It was the kind that's satin on the outside and flannel on the inside. So cute! Is it too early in the summer to start making fall/winter pajamas? ;)

OOHH I want that material! What color is it? That would be perfect for dd's pjs. If you complete projects at the rate that I do then you won't have them finished if you don't start now :rotfl2: So sew away!

My mom just made my DD some PJs out of that type of fabric with Tinkerbell on them. She actually found one fabric last year and then a new one this year. I'll have to take a pic and put it here. My DD loves them!!

I felt the same way! That is where I get all my scrapping supplies and nobody else nearby carries fabrics (even if their selection is limited, it is better than nothing). Guess now I have to travel a bit and stock up. I am going to raid our local Rag Shop today while I still have a chance. Does anyone know if there is a set date for the store closings?

Fabric Question

I'm planning to make dd6 a cinderella twirly skirt using four different fabrics. I have the blues I want, but wanted to use a pumpkin print to match the shirt she'll be wearing with it. Any tips on where to find any? I've checked ebay, but most of it is halloween stuff and I just want plain pumpkins either on blue or white background. I need a piece 42 x 13.

Has anyone seen the "Fabric Art" panels at Wal-Mart?

I assume they are on clearance here (although not by much just they had red tags), one of our Wal-Mart has a ton so I'll probably go back and buy most of them even though I have no clue what I'm going to use them all for just yet.

.

If you (or anyone else on this thread) happens to see the Fabric Art of Ariel that is called "Sea Friends"....I am desperately wanting 2 of these, and would pay you for them and shipping. I find tons of the Girl Who Has Everything (Ariel swimming to the surface), but this one is different.

The one I want has Airel sitting on a flat rock with her hair flowing above her head and Flounder and another fish watching her and little sea horses behind her.

I'd be most grateful if someone helped me find this one!

Thanks!
Jan

Here is something I made today. I had these fabrics lying around and figured I'd better get them sewn into something. I wanted a more "earthy" look for Animal Kingdom. Hope you all like it. This is my first time appliquing a Minnie face. http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL743/4677610/9766310/260242894.jpg
