I finished the outfit. The skirt wasn't as bad as the top! Now, I have to make DD6's outfit. I am going to make her's slightly different.

Here are the outfits I made with the Mickey winter fabric I bought back in, oh, October, maybe? It only took me 3 months to complete.
DD4 showing the underneath of the skirt.

DD4, DD5 and DS2. THANKS for all the input for DS2's shirt. I went with Donald & Mickey sledding towards Goofy (top ball) and Goofy looking in a different direction (bottom ball). It's hard to see in the pic.

OMG that pillowcase is to cute! I wish I would have seen it before I went to the movies tonight I was within walking distance to Kohls! OK we went and saw the veggie tales movie ... big surprise I didnt get her over alls anywhere near done. But I am going to work on them this week. I am at a stand still though because I cannot make a decision. Should I go all out and try and match thread on each color? Should I just use black or what about white? Also what about around the edges of the veggie fabric? I was thinking of going with a green that matched.

Hi Cathy,
I always forget to say that I love your signature-I LOVE that song:flower3:
USUALLY I try to take the stupid comments with a grain of salt, or difuse with humor. There are times however when the comment is particulary nasty or hurtful. And I might for a moment "forget" I am a Christian woman :rolleyes1 . But I think it is important for my DD to know that Mommy will always stand up for her. One comment comes to mind. We walked into a furniture store prepared to SPEND money. A "salesman" approached and amoung other comments said (right in front of my DD) "She's cute where did you get HER?" I loudly asked him (in front of all of his "buddies") "what you don't know where babies come from?" (which caused laughter for his buddies) I then proceeded to question HIS upbringing before going to his manager and "chatting" with him. The salesman was pulled off the floor and "counseled". We walked out of the store and have not been back. Sadly my DD remembers the event. Everytime we drive by that store she says, "that is where the mean man works that mommy made cry":rolleyes1
I just don't understand WHY people think it is ok to question/comment on children. I actually had a tee made (to wear to WDW) that says "you don't have the right to question my family".
HUGS to ALL the children and parents who have had to endure stupid comments.
 :confused3 Oh my...glad they got him off the floor! Yeesh.... you got that taken care of and as you said your DD was defended. Hugs to you both... and thanks about the song! Its my fav too! :cloud9:
Here is my littlest dd. I made her a party hat and a onesie dress. But of course I forgot to take a pic of the dress itself and it's already in the wash. :( The hat says Phoenix's 1st Birthday....in the Disney font of course. :)
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a170/phins_jazy/happygirl2Small.jpg
And this is my middle dd helping the baby.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a170/phins_jazy/jaceyhelpinSmall.jpg
Funny story about those bows in her hair. We went to walmart to grocery shop last night and this lady came up to me and wanted to know where I got my bows. I told her that I made them. (kicking myself that I didn't bring my business cards with me) well she said they were EXACTLY what she wanted for her daughter. I jokingly said that I'd sell her those. (the ones my dd was wearing) and she said I'll take them and handed me a shiny $10 bill. :thumbsup2 DD was kinda upset so I bought her some cookie dough and all was right with the world again.
Absolutely adorable!!! I love the hat and the shirt! And the bow story...:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: too funny!!
One of my DGD wore one of my first custom outfits to a Festival and came back very indignant(sp?). She told me that her Daddy tried to "sell" her outfit three times that day and she would have had to come home NAKIT!!!
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb55/nanascustomcreations/Girls/DSC02744.jpg From then on anytime she puts on one of my customs (my DGDs are my primary models so I make the prototypes in their sizes) she wags her finger at her Daddy and tells him he can't "sell" it while she is wearing it.
Nana
You gals are cracking my up or is it cracky... :rotfl2: The outfit is absolutely adorable! Great job! :thumbsup2
I was checking out this thread today and saw this adorable dress. Hours later I was at our local Joann's and saw this fabric. It is much cuter as a dress than on the bolt. Great Job.
Oh for heaven's sake...get yourself back there and buy the whole bolt....and I will pay ya for at least 6 yds if it!!!!!!!!! Seriously..... please PM me if you can! ;)

I would match the color for each but remember you only have to change the top thread not the bobbin color. Also you are going to have to open up the seam on the pants to do the applique work...a big pain...and resew. I did that today to my DD's jeans.
I didn't take pics or else I would be showing you all my grand accomplishment. I started at 11 am and finished at 10:15 pm and of course took a few breaks....garsh....the family had to eat.... but anyways, I made ruffled gouchoes and a peasant top to die for. Seriously, I am so proud of myself. And I tried shirring and using my new ruffler and everything. Tomorrow when she puts it on, I will take lots of pics!
OK good night all...stay warm..its freezing cold here!

Oh My Goodness! Those veggie tales appliques are going to be SO CUTE! Great job! I thought about you today when I was at Hancock's. They had Veggie Tales fabric. But you found some, didn't you?
Anyway, I would use matching thread on the appliques. It tends to kinda hide any slight imperfections that would be magnified if you outlined in black. That's my choice, at least.
You've GOT to post when you get these completed. They're going to be awesome!

Why did I have a feeling that was going to be the outcome lol. OK I will go get matching threads, going to go ahead and put them on the overalls and then take them to buy thread. I have Mr Lundt (Sp?) too but I need fabric for his hat and his gold tooth. Plus I am not sure where I am going to fit him. DH told me tonight that I was insane he thought I was making ALL four of our kids shirts to wear to the movie ... did I remember how small the 2 year old was lmao. I am praying I have not bitten off more than I can chew with this one. ;) She is already excited about them ... especially after the movie tonight. It was both she and her brothers first movie ever and they had a blast and were SO good!

I can't believe all the horrible things people have said to some of you. I've noticed that if a girl has red hair people usually love it, but if it's a boy they think it's unfortunate.
I've noticed that about the red hair too. It really odd!
You are all so talented! I love the Princess Pillowcase dresses.
Here is something I did yesterday. Do you think it needs it needs anything?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b139/l_a_zolman/girls%20crafts/dress.jpg
I love that! I think I would leave it like it is, it's very cute!!!!
Everybody keeps showing their pretty DD's in their pretty flowergirl dresses. So I have to show my DD in hers. It is also an ebay dress. This was from my wedding in june 2006.
http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee312/crystal_crtr2/th_jennaandbailee.jpg
DD is the one on the right and the other girl is my cousin's DD. They are the best of friends.
OOOH, those are really pretty dresses! And, beautiful girls!!!
They look great! A lot of us on the bow board use something called Fabric Tac. It works great for holding the character clips together and a huge bonus is no burnt fingers!! You can find it at walmart or joanns.
Here is my littlest dd. I made her a party hat and a onesie dress. But of course I forgot to take a pic of the dress itself and it's already in the wash. :( The hat says Phoenix's 1st Birthday....in the Disney font of course. :)

I love your daughter's hat!! And the story about the bows is too funny!!! Thank goodness for cookie dough!!!
Actually, I have it bookmarked for if & when that time ever comes. I'm hoping that it will be at least 7-8 years though. They both have to finish college, start their careers, meet the right man, get married, etc. (and not necessarily in that order).
You weren't finished with college when you married Chuck, right? So, who knows! It's hard to believe that your babies are that old allready though!!! Wasn't just yesterday you brought a baby to my wedding?????? (A very good and cute little baby!) Of course, if you ever feel the need to just make some girlie things, I hear your old college buddy has two very cute little girls that love things like that! ;)
Yep she did many times It was awful I tell you
That is so very very hurtful, and even more so since it came from her Grandma!!! I am so very very sorry that happened!
SO, maybe we should all start taking a changes of customs for our kiddos into the park so when people ask, we can sell the clothes off their backs and put on the next custom! I wonder how many sets to be sold in a day would be the record!
http://pic1.picturetrail.com/VOL1112/4366414/12451869/299848530.jpg
This is the outfit that I'm currently CASEing. It's a shame that it's on Voldemort for $185...it's crazy...I could make about 5 outfits for that much money...Anyway I finished the top, it's a pretty simple style. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the ribbon trim on the pants. Do you think it would look just as good with a red and white dot ruffle on the bottom instead?
I really like that outfit Elisa!! I agree that the ruffle would be adorable!
One of my DGD wore one of my first custom outfits to a Festival and came back very indignant(sp?). She told me that her Daddy tried to "sell" her outfit three times that day and she would have had to come home NAKIT!!!

She is so cute!!! I love that outfit! What a little cutie!!
OOOHH!!!! WAY ON TOPIC!!!! I found a peasant top that I'd cut out of Faeries material(leftovers from my FQ swap) before christmas. I am working on it NOW.
...t.
Yeah!!! I can't wait to see it!!!
Hi everyone,
Im so excited . I just got a pillowcase in the mail that i brought off It was sent over from the states and i am so happy with it that i wanted to share a picture. I brought the pillowcase just mainly to use belles face and the rose on a dress but auroras faces is quite pretty so i am going to do a dress with her as well. Next to Belle is some fabric ( musk pink and pale pink with muck pink roses) i brought last week which i thought matched really well. The package that the pillowcase came in had a barcode from 'KOHLS' on it. Cinderella is on the other side.

I haven't ironed it yet, i pulled it straight out of the package to take a photo to show you all.

I may have to run to Kohl's too!!!

VERY pretty!! I love satin!!! Your daughter looks like she is loving it too!!!
I'm a beginner sewer, do you ladies think this is an outfit I could attempt? Really not so much the top as the pants? I loved the embellished overalls etc, is this relative easy to do? Any and all tips appreciated! THANKS
I haven't attempted applique myself, but there are lots of tutorials in the bookmarks in my siggy.

I read through about 50 pages here today and I am very impressed with what I've seen. I meet Tom on another thread here so I have been watching his work for a while. I am the mother of 3 boys so I don't sew nearly as often as I'd like and mostly make Disney blankets, potholders and costumes. I have made a few custom Disney things for myself, but usually stick to designing Disney t-shirts. If you ever happen to visit the Creative Designs forums you will find me over there.
I bought this fabric at Joann's tonight and was wondering if any of you had made anything with it. I'm thinking of making a sarong for my bathing suit with it as I think it may be too busy for a top. With no little girls to "doll up" I'm a bit limited.

Update on my WDW trip saga: It seems to go on and on! So DH and I decided that we were still going to go on our trip even though his company cancelled their sales meeting their (and the whole reason for going in the first place!). Of course that all changed yet again today! On his conference call today is boss decided since the big sales meeting was cancelled to go ahead and schedule a three day meeting that same week so it looks like our trip is cancelled yet again. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: We still havent' cancelled the tickets or hotel yet because my DH thinks it still might get changed since some of the people his boss will want there might have conflicts so we are holding but it's not looking good. I know we don't necessarily need to spend the money right now (due to upcoming home renovations) but I think it will probably be our last chance for a real vacation for about 18 months. I also hate it that last week (before the meeting got cancelled but after we booked everything) that we told our girls and they are so excited! They loved our trip there last year and were so happy to be going back and like every parent I hate disappointing them. Who knows...........I guess whatever is meant to be is how it will turn out. In the mean time I'm still hoping but facing reality that it doesn't look like it's going to turn out.
Sorry for the totally OT rant but I just needed to share with others who understand the obsession with WDW!

Oh I hope you get to go- I wouldn't want to take back a Disney trip:sad2:
Hi,
I'm new to all these disney forums but I'm so glad to be able to join up as we are going to Disneyland next year for the first time ever :D It will also be our first holiday as a family.
We are from New Zealand and we will be travelling with my sister, my DH, our 2 girls (who will be almost 3 and almost 5 at the time) my friend and her mum (who are both disneyland veterans).
I'm just so excited and can't wait to start sewing and knitting stuff for the trip. I've been browsing through (not sure if I'll ever get through all the pages ;) ) but I must say I  all your gals creations.
It is really hard to find decent disney fabric in New Zealand so I'm hoping I can make do with themed colours (if anyone knows of a good fabric shop that sell disney fabric that ships internationally I'd be greatful )
I did make a hooded bathrobe for my DD with mickey and minnie embroidered on the back (thanks to my friends fancy embroidery machine) so that is the start of the obsession :D
Anyway that was a long intro (whoops).
Look forward to sharing some creations.

This is the fabric I used for the appliques- dd is only 18 months and the pillowcases princesses are to big for her but I really wanted to do a princess jumper so I found this. It was at walmart.

Your doggie baby is so cute and good job on the tiaras. They look cute I think I might tackle one with DD.
I'm thinking of making some of the princess hair clips, but making them as lapel pins that way I can wear them too. :goodvibes

WELCOME! Glad you've joined in. In case someone hasn't posted it, I just thought I'd let you know that all the pics from this thread can be found by going to the very first post of the thread, towards the bottom, there are two links that are posted in bold. One is for the photobucket account that has all of the pictures of everything that has been posted on this thread. Great place for inspiration! The second link is full of links for different tutorials on how to make great things. Take a look around - it's a great place to find great things to make.

I think some have used the ottobre patterns. I've been meaning to try them for some time. Mostly, I use patterns I find at the store and just make them in Disney colors, or add a Disney accent. I also use patterns/instructions from the tutorials here, as well as many of the patterns/instructions that I have purchased at www.youcanmakethis.com

The day before we leave on any trip is so stressful for me, it might actually be worse than the day we leave WDW to go home. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I hate packing and I hate packing with the thought that I might forget something important. I have lists but I always worry about what I might forget.
Plus I have to run all those last minute errands. In addition, today I am going to tour a preschool for DD to attend in the fall. This stresses me all out on a whole other level.

I've never tried an Ottobre pattern. I'm pretty sure LisaZoe has used those though. I wing it sometimes, like with the Giselle and Lydia's purple princess toille outfit. I'm finding that easier to do the more I look at the tutorials. But, patterns are always good!
WOW, you ladies stay up way too late for me. I was up until after 11:00 last night. I get up this morning and there are 2 more pages to read through! Don't you ever sleep?

Oh, you need to try some, they are really easy! After the first one I did, they went together really fast!

I hear you on the day before stress!!! I HATE that!!! Once we get going I'm fine, but the day we leave or the day before, I'm a wreak!!! I always try to remind myself that there is hardly anything I could forget that I can't buy once I get there. That helps to keep me semi calm!

Your clippies were great, too. I meant to quote them, but I don't think I did!!
Just for Heather, here's my littlest doing her very best modeling job. I told her to let me take her picture & she started turning & tilting her head & twirling around.

Oh..my..GOSH!! I just want to kiss her little cheeks!! She's so incredibly adorable!! I love the dress on her, it just suits her perfectly! The clippies turned out great! Your Ariel looks MUCH better than mine! :rotfl:
We've been sick around here too. DH had the stomach flu (lots of fun side effects but he lost 6 lbs last week with it :rotfl: ). Claire (DD2) has had a runny nose for about a month but last week she kind of had a cough and it turned a little yellow so I took her to the doctor. She never had a fever and her mucus was always clear so I thought she would kick it on her own. Of course, she had a double ear infection and because I had "let this go on for too long", she gets to do two courses of antibiotics, a prescription antihistamine/decongestant and mucinex. Lovely! I simply adore what antibiotics do to babies and toddlers! I can't even begin to tell you how many times we've changed her today. I have been stuffy for about 3 weeks now and I see the doctor on Thursday and I'm positive I've got a sinus infection so hopefully they'll give me something to get rid of it. We are using a lot of Puffs around here! Hopefully your family will get better!
For all of you frigid, snowbound people I'm jealous. It's been cold here in Dallas (for here anyway) but I want a good deep freeze! I'm jealous and missing winter (something I never thought I would say!). Enjoy it!
So sorry to hear about all your sicknesses ! We've had colds or flu or whatever since our Arizona trip in early December- UGH!! I just got a call last night from Henry's aunt saying that his cousin's baby has RSV and that we should get our kids checked out for it. But, I did a search online and it sounds like it's pretty much just a cold, unless the baby is a newborn. Or, it could turn into pnemonia.
Now for the good news: I did find a low shank ruffler (only $14) and bought that. Soooo....I had a blast trying to figure that out today. :thumbsup2 I wasnt entirely sure I bought the right one and I had no idea what was the front and back. Somehow I studied it long enough to figure out where it should attach. Then I realized that part of it should go over the needle bolt thingy and I raised the presser foot and attached it there too and whaa laaaa...I got it on. I played around with the settings on some scraps. What a blast! It is fascinating. I set it to do three stitches and a deep pleat. I love it!!! I had to figure out to separate the fabric from the ruffle (one goes under and one goes on top). Amazing instrument and hopefully it will really speed things up. Ruffling by hand is soooo time consuming! Tomorrow I plan on getting right to work on a peasant top and ruffled jeans for my DD9. Plus I will take some pics. Sorry for the long post but I am so excited to finally have a ruffler!!!!!   [/COLOR]
Yay on your ruffler!! I'm so glad you got a great deal on one at Joann instead of buying it at some fancy quilt store for $40! Have you downloaded the pdf from youcanmakethis.com about optimizing your ruffler? I did this and it really helped!!

Love this fabric! I wish our Joanns had it.

Of course that all changed yet again today! I know we don't necessarily need to spend the money right now (due to upcoming home renovations) but I think it will probably be our last chance for a real vacation for about 18 months. I also hate it that last week (before the meeting got cancelled but after we booked everything) that we told our girls and they are so excited! You ladies are BRILLIANT. Man, I wish I'd paid more attention in Home-Ec class. Truly, truly talented!
You don't have to know how to sew to start sewing! :lmao: Just read some of the tutorials in teresajoy's links and get to sewing!!
Don't you just love that! We had a daycare girl named Rylie. She was a sweetie!
Riley Makenna in the deep blue sea, you swim so wild and you swim so free. Heavens above and the sea below, just a little Riley Makenna on the go....I used to sing that to her and she loved it! She was such a little cutie!

What a bunch of great stuff! Don't you know you're supposed to spread these out so you can bask in the glory of our praise for longer?:rotfl:
My mom made my dd cry yesterday. My dd asked to wear one of her customs, it was a tinkerbell and my mom thought it was dorky. She got out a pair of jeans and a shirt for my dd to change into and my dd cried b/c she wanted her tink outfit. I have a completely different taste in clothes than my mom and sister. I am sure they will make fun of all the outfits my kids will be wearing when we go to the world in March. :sad2:
Wow, how incredibly rude and mean!

Hi everyone! We're back from our most wonderful trip! We had a great time and the girls got loads of attention because of their outfits. It was worth every stabbed finger and broken needle. There was one day they did not wear a custom because it was just too cold and I figured it was better to bundle them up. But other than that, every outfit was worn. I'm horrible at trip reports so I'm just going to post an outfit report in photos here :)
I call this Day 1 even though it's late Thursday night. We traveled on the red eye and this was taken before we left. The dresses were also their Christmas Day dresses. For Christmas the Mickey heads had a Santa Hat tacked on and then I took it off and appliqued the bows for our trip.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day1.jpg
Day 2- Magic Kingdom
They continued to wear the dresses all day and I was thrilled to find Minnie's House open because it was supposed to be closed during our trip! I hustled those girls right in their for the obligatory DisBoutique picture
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day2.jpg
Day 3- World Showcase
Daisy (the little one) got more attention with her outfit than Tabitha.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day3.jpg
Day 4- Animal Kingdom
I love these outfits! And they'll never get worn again because they just aren't appropriate for any park here at Disneyland. But man did they get attention! People loved Tabitha's pants. In hindsight I should have added ruffles to Daisy's pants as well, but I still love how it looked.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day4.jpg
Day 5- future world and mini-golf- Too cold, they wore Disney Store stuff
Day 6- Magic Kingdom
I didn't make these, I bought them off ebay. Same with the girls' hats. As a family we got a load of attention. People also made lots of comments on the hats.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day6.jpg
Day 7- Disney's Hollywood Studios
Daisy attracted everyone from every corner of the park. They could not get over her outfit which cracks me up because it was so darn simple! Tabitha got a bit of attention too, since she's so bright, but most commented on the Einstein's outfit.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day7.jpg
Day 8- Back to Animal Kingdom due to being rained out the first time then to Downtown Disney
The girls attracted attention, but it was more mild. I was asked many times that day if I sewed their outfits and then told I did a good job, but that's about it.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day8.jpg
Day 9- Magic Kingdom
Tabitha's garnered the most attention due to the pants and all day long I was asked if I sewed their outfits. One man even pointed us out to his family later in the day after he had seen us earlier. They were great outfits for our very last magical day (we won after park passes for an extra hour in the park).
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/day9.jpg
There you have it! For those interested in photopass pictures you can see those here (http://www.disneyphotopass.com/photoshareviewer.aspx?share=2). I have zero hope in catching up and won't even try since I was behind before we left! But I hope to stay more active now that I'm not trying to finish so many outfits. On the other hand, I do have a birthday dress, a recital dress and two Easter outfits to complete by the end of March, so we'll see, lol.

I am SO with you on this! Why do people think they need to comment about it at all!!! What makes them think it's their business!? He actually said "Where did you get her?" Wow!! It must have been hard not to slap him!
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b139/l_a_zolman/girls%20crafts/th_dress.jpg
I think it looks adorable as is! If you want to add a little of the lace around the sleeves, that would be cute, too.

Aw...she looks so adorable in her birthday outfit!! I love it! So funny that you sold the bows off DD's head!
Yep she did many times :( It was awful I tell you
 It must have been awful!! I'm so fortunate to have such a nice mom and sister! They would never say my kids looked dorky, even if they thought it!

I'm partial to the ribbon trim, but it would be cute with a ruffle, too. I'm sure whatever you come up with will be fantastic! I am always so happy for the sellers that get this kind of money out of their creations! It gives hope to us all! :rotfl:
One of my DGD wore one of my first custom outfits to a Festival and came back very indignant(sp?). She told me that her Daddy tried to "sell" her outfit three times that day and she would have had to come home NAKIT!!!
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb55/nanascustomcreations/Girls/th_DSC02744.jpg From then on anytime she puts on one of my customs (my DGDs are my primary models so I make the prototypes in their sizes) she wags her finger at her Daddy and tells him he can't "sell" it while she is wearing it.
Nana
:rotfl: What a little cutie!
ON TOPIC... I am trying to get to work on some things (though, non DIS) I have started. I have all the strips cut for a double layer stripwork skirt w/ elephants. I was going to make it a jumper but I'm considering not. I'd like to make a pair of pants w/ the elephants appliqued, but you know how the "A" word scares me. This outfit is a knock off of one of maybe 2cutekids...I'm not sure, but it had a zoo type print and a girraffe applique. Then I am trying to make a stripwork twirl top (from YCMT) that has a corset style back. I have some really gret calico prints that I bought like a year ago to make some shabby chic curtains for Littles room. B decided he wants to do an animal theme and since I'd been eyeing the fabric for outfits anyway I didnt' argue w/ him. I'd like to make something for the littles of the girls who helped my family have christmas and I think that I may make them some twirl tops w/ what I have left over. They are cousins and they are both 1.5 I have Littles day of the dead outfit cut out completely and some of it sewn, but I have to add a zipper and well, I'm gonna do that one w/ a chaperone. I hope to get this weekend off and sew sew sew. Maybe I'll get something done before then, I'm only scheduled til 5:00 every day this week so maybe I'll have an evening to sew some.
Hopefully I'll have some pictures next weekend.
...t.
It sounds like you've got all sorts of plans!! Can't wait to see what you make next!

VERY pretty!
I'm a beginner sewer, do you ladies think this is an outfit I could attempt? Really not so much the top as the pants? I loved the embellished overalls etc, is this relative easy to do? Any and all tips appreciated! THANKS
I think you could do it. But, I'd practice appliqueing on some "scrap" denim if you haven't done it before first. Look at some of the tutorials in the bookmarks if you need to.

I actually want to make ones now for my Oscar but I'm sure by DD's would get jealous and want ones of their own and I'm sure DH would have a fit with him wearing them!:rotfl2: He has worn a reindeer headband before and that was pretty funny looking (the kennel he goes to is fantastic and he was there last Christmas and they put them on him and took pictures!). Tessa and I had a good laugh at your dog wearing a crown and a tiara! These are so cute! I like the idea of making one for your DS! Maybe I'll have to make one for Sawyer
I'm thinking of making some of the princess hair clips, but making them as lapel pins that way I can wear them too.
:welcome: We're so glad to have you here!! I think your princess lapel pin idea is great!

Sorry for the totally OT rant but I just needed to share with others who understand the obsession with WDW!
Oh Benita, I'm so sorry that you have to keep going through this! How dissapointing! I really hope this gets turned around one last time and you end up getting to go!
Hi,
I'm new to all these disney forums but I'm so glad to be able to join up as we are going to Disneyland next year for the first time ever :D It will also be our first holiday as a family.
:woohoo: Another newbie!! :welcome: I would think that if you see some fabric you like, someone here would help you out by buying it and sending it to you. I don't know how much it actually costs to ship fabric to New Zealand, do you?
We leave tomorrow! The day before we leave on any trip is so stressful for me, it might actually be worse than the day we leave WDW to go home. I hate packing and I hate packing with the thought that I might forget something important. I have lists but I always worry about what I might forget.
Plus I have to run all those last minute errands. In addition, today I am going to tour a preschool for DD to attend in the fall. This stresses me all out on a whole other level.
:woohoo: Tomorrow!!! I'm so excited for you!!!

WOW WOW WOW! Your girls are absolutely beautfiul and EVERY OUTFIT is FANTASTIC! You did a great job and I can see why they got so much attention!
PS- To whomever's mother said their child looked DORKY?:confused3 I am just wondering who thinks ANY child could ever look dorky! Children are just way to sweet and cute and precious and you could dress them in paper sacks and they would look FANTASTIC! I just have to wonder what GRANDMOTHER on this earth would think their own grandchild looked dorky and would say that to them! That was extremely rude and hurtful! I am sooooo sorry she said that to your baby!:grouphug:

That was my mom. She said she was just stating the truth b/c when she was younger she had dorky clothes and doesn't want my girls to go through that. I don't think they are dorky and my dds love them :(
To the poster who did the jeans and tshirt with the green and multi colored mickey swirls. How did you attach the fabric to the shirt, I can't tell by the pic. Did you just use glue?

Aww, Misty, I'm sorry you are sick! It seems like everyone is getting sick this winter. My MOTHER was sick yesterday! She NEVER gets sick! I hope you get feeling better soon, and no one else gets anything for awhile!!!
And, OOOUCH about the toothache too!!! UGGH! You poor thing. I think your friend Wendy needs to come over and take care of you!
Riley Makenna in the deep blue sea, you swim so wild and you swim so free. Heavens above and the sea below, just a little Riley Makenna on the go....I used to sing that to her and she loved it! She was such a little cutie!

Good morning everyone! It's cold here in Dallas today so I'm kind of excited although my girls hate to wear their winter coats so it's kind of a battle but I'm happy!
I can't get my 15 year old to wear a coat! It drives me NUTS!!! It's 10degrees out, and he goes to school with just a sweatshirt over his short sleeves!!
They would never say my kids looked dorky, even if they thought it!

This is way off topic but I am so excited. I got Lauren into the Preschool class I was hoping for! She will go 3 days a week in the mornings starting in September. I actually got the last slot in the class! I think it is beyond crazy that you have to register for preschool 9 months in advance and even then you might not get your first choice.

You guys are not going to believe this. My ruffler foot just BROKE! It's been acting kinda wonky. I was just finishing gathering the last section of the skirt of the pillowcase dress that I've been making, and I was about 1/2 finished, and there was kinda a wonky stitch, then a noise, and the maching beeping, and the thing just came off. The bottom part that attaches on the screw on bar thing just broke off. I paid $30 for this thing at Hancock's. I've had it since probably around August. I'm very, very sad. Now I'm gonna have to replace the thing. Anyone know where to find a ruffler foot for a good price?

I know.. it is nuts.. I have to go register my younger 2 next week. hopping to get my dd into the 5 day half day and my ds 2 day half day. I already heard there may be no opening for him. If not I will send my dd to the half day pre-k at the public school.
Day 6- Magic Kingdom

I love those crochet hats - My plan for the year is to learn how to crochet (last year I learn't how to knit and sew). I've only been sewing since march last year as we cloth diaper our youngest so thought I'd have a go at making them all for her - from there I ventured into clothes (just basic stuff) and then now I'm itching to do something a bit more adventurous ;) My good friend is a fashion designer and has been teaching me as I go ;)
Thanks for that Youcanmakethis link - they have some funky patterns - do they actually include patterns or just instructions :). I'm normally a wing it sort of girl and have a huge list of tutorials saved as favourites lol - patterns are a new thing for me but I'm sure I'll learn (the dressing gown I made recently was one of my first attempts at a real bought pattern).
I can't post pics but can I link to a picture in photobucket or flickr??
Sorry I tend to get carried away when it comes to crafty stuff and blabber on a bit :rolleyes1 just tell me to be quiet

If I were you I would take it back to Hancock's for a replacement. Speak to the manager if you have to....It certainly should have lasted a few years not mere months!!!! The ruffler I have was made in 1951.....still works fine!!! Nana

I love this fabric but have never seen it at Joann's here. I'll have to keep searching.
I introduced myself as a sewing newbie last week and I finished my tote bag and a pair of pirate pj bottoms for my son. Just trying to get the feel of everything.
I love my brother 270D sewing machine so far. Its so simple to use. Granted I havent gotten up the nerve to do any embroidery yet!!! :rotfl:
Ok everyone talks about a ruffler foot and I'm really thinking I NEED ONE!!! Are they hard to use? The skirts and dresses are just so cute.
I found some really cute patterns for dd7 at the store the other day. I cant wait to get started on real clothes. I'm looking for easy stuff obviously. I really wish I would have started sewing when she was younger because of all the cute toddler outfits you all have made! Unfortunately she's grown out of all the cutsie stuff. I'm trying to find patterns that look more like an older girls outfit but use cute disney fabrics for our October trip!
So quick question. Where does everyone get the cute minnie dot fabric? I've searched Joann's, Hancock and Walmart. Cant find it anywhere. :confused3 Thanks in Advance!!!

Ooh I wish I could be of some help but Joann's and Hancock's near me don't carry rufflers. They look at me like I'm crazy when I ask for one. I know some of the sewing repair stores here do carry them but the two times I've been they have been out of them. I've got to put that on my to do list! I think it would make things much easier.

You know I put the elastic straps on the jumper but the bodice is a little tight any ideas how to fix that as long as I have to fix the straps (cover up the zig zag stitches). I might just sew ricky-rack over the top of where I sewed the straps to the bodice instead of ripping it all apart :headache:
I was thinking of changing the back to a corset type so it can be tightened after it goes over her head. I'm not sure how to do that though- it's just an idea I have.
Any suggestions are welcome- I know you guys can help me out!!!

HEATHER- I forgot to say the pup looks GORGEOUS in her outfit as well!
Okay I FINALLY finished a skirt that I have been working on caseing for like FOREVER!!!! I was sooo happy to have it finished and it turned out better than I expected, but it is not FANTASTIC! So hopefully, if you all promise not to look to closely, especially the ruffle which is HORRIBLE, I will post some pics later! First I have to straighten up, give baths, make dinner, and get the little one to bed! See you guys later!

BEAUTIFUL!
Hey Any ideas or suggestions out there to help me out???
This was the pink and purple belle & aurora stripwork jumper
To make a bodice into an open corset style, post production is a bit of a hassle. I've always called them apron dresses, because that's what they call them on the hippie sites. :)
To make a corset bodice, you leave the center back open, and line the bodice. You can either make loops at even intervals along the back to lace the straps through, buttonholes, or grommets/eyelets. Post production, you could try edging the back with double fold bias to cover the raw edges, but I usually like the sew together and top-stitched lining for durability with the straps.
At the bottom, you add a strip of skirt between the two sides of the bodice, and either put in elastic or a drawstring into the top of that "free" skirt part, so as you loosen the bodice, you have room in the skirt, and as you tighten the bodice, there's no gaping in the back.
Make the straps SUPER long, attach at the shoulder, cross in back, and lace up. Make a bow at the bottom.
Clear as mud??
I'm sorry, I have no pics right now. I'll see if I can go dig out one of brianna's apron dresses later and post pics (hers and mine are packed up for the winter right now).

I really like this outfit. How do you put rick rack on? Do you zig zag? Or just straight stitch? I always wondered about that.

For Christmas the Mickey heads had a Santa Hat tacked on and then I took it off and appliqued the bows for our trip.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/th_day1.jpg
Day 7- Disney's Hollywood Studios
Daisy attracted everyone from every corner of the park. They could not get over her outfit which cracks me up because it was so darn simple! Tabitha got a bit of attention too, since she's so bright, but most commented on the Einstein's outfit.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/th_day7.jpg
Day 9- Magic Kingdom
Tabitha's garnered the most attention due to the pants and all day long I was asked if I sewed their outfits. One man even pointed us out to his family later in the day after he had seen us earlier. They were great outfits for our very last magical day (we won after park passes for an extra hour in the park).

WOW! I LOVE them all! I am so glad you got the Minnie picture! Those are one of my favorites for some reason. I love seeing all the kids by them. And the HATS are to die for. I was going to get my son a penguin one but then thought he was too old, I now see that you are never too old for such adorable hats! You did a good job on all the outfits!
We leave tomorrow! The day before we leave on any trip is so stressful for me, it might actually be worse than the day we leave WDW to go home.
I am the EXACT same way, although I have turned it into being a wreck almost the entire week before worrying about things.
Here's what I did with that fabric...
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb256/disboutique/mickey%20minnie%20and%20dots/mickey%20swirl/th_IMG_1230.jpg
And here's a link to the photobucket site of all the outfits using this fabric..
This has always been one of my favorite outfits!
I am once again soooooo behind:eek: I have been sick again plus a major tooth ache:headache: i am like 15 or so pages behind:sad2: i have been lurking but not commenting,:guilty:
why is it everytime i jump on here i want to Case everything i see?:rolleyes1 oh yea! it is because we are some very talented peeps:thumbsup2
I love all the adorable lil kids and i am so sorry about the mean things that have been said
My kids have once again gone back to school after a long 4wk vacation (yr Round) i felt so bad we have about 6-7 inches of snow on the ground & it is cold and here i am shoving them out the door . :confused3
well everyone have a great day i am gonna go dose myself up and try to catch some more sleep before the 2 lil one's wake up..
Get well soon! How are the quilts you and Utah were working on?
With no little girls to "doll up" I'm a bit limited.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a240/my3princes/th_LightUpMickeyMouse.jpg
I'm thinking of making some of the princess hair clips, but making them as lapel pins that way I can wear them too. :goodvibes
One of my favorite fabrics! I made me a tshirt with it. I'll have to post a picture if there isn't one in photobucket. I am not sure I ever posted pictures of it.
This is the fabric I used for the appliques- dd is only 18 months and the pillowcases princesses are to big for her but I really wanted to do a princess jumper so I found this. It was at walmart.

I really like this outfit. How do you put rick rack on? Do you zig zag? Or just straight stitch? I always wondered about that.
All you do is run a straight stitch down the center. I like the "look" of Rec Rac and then if the item needs top stitching (ie to hold the ruffle in place) the application of the Ric Rac takes the place of the top stitching. Nana

I followed a pattern on YCMT.com but basically you divide the height you want by the number of ruffles you want and add like an inch or so. You sew the ruffles onto a large rectangle of fabric (so you have enough room for two triangles) and use the triangle pattern to cut out two identical triangles. You sew this onto the jeans (that are seam ripped open). Thats basically it. If you need help I can help you along. For my DD I made 5 rows of 3.5 inch ruffles.

That is awful!!! You really should take it back, it should not have broke allready! I hope you get a speedy replacement!
After I posted I realized I could just use peach or cream. ok.. blame it on my sinus infection
So, the search for flesh is off????? You've moved on to peaches and cream. YUMMY! I hope your sinus infection clears up, those are no fun. My brother in law use to have them so bad, his entire face swelled up and he had to go into the hospital several times. I know it can be very painful.
Most of the YCMT patterns are patterns you print out on the computer. Honestly though, if you are any good at figuring things out, you can probably make them yourself. I have not been entirely impressed with most of the patterns on their. Although, I do have a very nice collection of them!
You only need 10 posts to post pictures, you are almost there!!!
The Minnie Dot was at Walmart as a Halloween fabric. But, Hancock gets it in throughout the year. (At least they did last year) It's called Minnie Dot on Hancock's site. Just keep checking there.
Another ? Wasn't there a mickey head cut out that you could print and use to trace a mickey head for a shirt? I am trying to make a shirt but need a mickey head, or am I just making this up
That is in the Photobucket account too, under fabrics and ideas/graphics (or something similar to that!)
Hey Any ideas or suggestions out there to help me out???
This was the pink and purple belle & aurora stripwork jumper
I'm sorry, I wasn't real clear what you meant, that's why I didn't answer.
You are a tease!!!!
BEAUTIFUL!
That makes sense to me! Thanks for posting that!!!
Ok, I am not good at this stuff but here is a onsie I just made for my youngest dd who 1, I am having a hard time finding things for her. A fellow member might be making a twirl skirt to go. I plan on doing all the princesses. What do you think? Please be honest

I think it's pretty good! I have tried to use the fabric paint before, and I find that if you practice on something first, you don't get the globs so much. But, this looks really cute! I can't wait to see the rest of the ones you do!
Hope this comes out okay, I had to get rid or 27 pictures from my quotes so started chopping the reply!
That happens to me all the time too!
Awwww thanks Teresa....partly they are in color so I can find myself in the midst of pages upon pages of quotes! Here's one for you! ;)
Thanks! :)
 OK here they are....pics of the pillowcase dress and my DD9's outfit.
I loved :lovestruc the whole princess and couldnt bear to cut her head off :scared: for the bodice, so I made it into a huge applique! ;) I made the top big enough to wear for the next year or so in hopes that a Disney vacation will materialize.....popcorn::

You weren't finished with college when you married Chuck, right? So, who knows! It's hard to believe that your babies are that old allready though!!! Wasn't just yesterday you brought a baby to my wedding?????? (A very good and cute little baby!) Of course, if you ever feel the need to just make some girlie things, I hear your old college buddy has two very cute little girls that love things like that! ;)
Yes, we were married in college when I was 20-1/2 years old. We knew each other about a year but our first date was 363 days before our wedding. So, I know you never know! We did wait 3 years before having the first cute little baby.
I have to say you guys have sucked me into this thread. I had to check it out because I wanted to see what Tom was up to and now I'm hooked! Now, I've got Deb sucked in too. I am trying to decide if there is something that I can make for my 7 year old niece and 10 year old nephew for our June trip. And then somehow come up with something matching for the adults in the group. My sister, mom, niece & nephew are coming with DH and my 2 girls. I haven't sewn in 25 years but I used to enjoy it. If I decide to tackle it, I'll be asking for advice from all you fantastic people!

Is she going to wear it at BBB???? It is really beautiful heather!!!! Great Great Job!!!
Yes, she's going to wear it to BBB at the CASTLE!!!
Wow that is impressive. My dd is giong to :faint: when I show her this picture. Amazing job! did you have a pattern or just made it up as you went along? Its gorgeous!
I used Simplicity 9902 (the Belle dress) for the top. I added the sash to the top and the bow. It called for velcro in the back, so I also added a zipper instead. I just winged it for the skirt and underskirt.
Whoa! Hold the phone! Heather, that is AMAZING! You did a great job!
So worth killing your old machine to do this!
I just might have to TRY to CAB this one! Leigh is flipping out for it!

That is me as Megara. I made all of the Hercules Family outfits including the stuffed Pegasus head :) The Meg dress was a JcPenny's formal dress that I modified. We had a blast at the Halloween Party and were selected to ride in the Boo Too You Parade. That was in 2005 when they still chose people to ride in the parade.
I also created all of the other costumes in the photos with the exception of the red power ranger. That wasn't my kid :goodvibes I absolutely love to come up with original Halloween Costumes. Someday I'll have to scan all of my old photos in as there are a lot of costumes over the last 15 years.
As you can see my crafty sides floats all over the place. We even designed and built the deck that the Micky Head Lights are on. Thanks for taking the time to look.

I'm so excited! I bought 2 pillowcases tonight. Heidi picked Aurora and Aleah picked Tinker Bell. They are the ones from Kmart. Then we went to Joanns and the girls picked out fabric. I'm washing it now. I also bought some random trim. I can't wait to make these dresses.
The girls wanted me to buy a Cars pillowcase for Colby, but what would I do with it? Make a giant Lightening McQueen on a t-shirt?

Hairbow makers..
where are you finding flesh color solid grosgrain ?
I am looking on a few ribbon site to place an order to make all of the princess bows and I cant find flesh.
I found mine at Walmart. If you still have a Walmart near you that sells fabric, look in the ribbon by the yard. I think mine was 27 cents a yard. I couldn't find it in the "by the spool" stuff.

I'm enjoying all of the creativity here. I am so impressed with your sewing skills. I enjoy sewing, but really don't get around to it as much as I'd like. I have my hands in way too many projects :goodvibes I added a couple of links to my signature if anyone wants to see a few of the projects that I've completed. I can think of several that aren't on those links, but I will try to add them as time allows.

There are nothing but BRILLIANT and TALENTED people who love to sew for their families and loved ones! It definitely keeps my creative juices flowing!
A couple of terms you might need to know:
CASE = Copy And Steal Everything!
CAB = Coby and Butcher!

Franken = putting several pieces of different patterns together to make one item of clothing!

Ooooh, it is crazy! My girls have gone to the same school since Emily was 3, and I had heard stories of people camping out overnight for spots in preschool and our Kindergarten. Well, last year I saw it! People camped out 24 hours before registration opened to the public (church members and current students can register early). And now that I work part-time for the school this year, I'm wondering if I'll see the camp out again this year. It's just crazy!!!

Cute costumes! You're very creative. I saw your Christmas tree costume. I was a Christmas tree too one year! My mom made it (my younger sister was a snowman) and hung ornaments all over me which fell off all night but it was a very cute costume. I don't know if she still has it now that I'm thinking about it. Cute costumes!

Thanks everyone for your comments on my skirt! Like I said I cased it from someone on here and I wish I knew who it was so I could give them credit! If it was you thank you! It took so long to make because the material was $5.99 a yard and I am cheap so I bought one per week with my 40% off coupon so it took three weeks just to get the fabric!:rotfl: But it was worth all the hassle because I like it and my DD LOVES it! Thanks again for all of you sweet comments.

My youngest son's name is Colby too. He loves cars and his room is a Cars room. This is what I did with a Cars Pillowcase
He is sleeping in our room tonight because he is sick so he has no idea I took these photos

His blankets are all cotton print on one side and fleece on the other. Here is his Donald blanket (Mickey and Friend Hawaiian print, but Donald is his all time favorite character)

I also made him the Donald Pillowcase to match
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg49/Debsdisneycreations/ColbysBlankets005.jpg
I used the other half of the pillowcase and framed it in a poster frame and it hangs on the wall above his bed.

That is so cute!!! The blanket looks really nice too!!! AWWW, so sweet. I hope he get feeling better soon.

Love the blankets! Are those hard to do? I have been wanting to do some for my girls but am scared:scared: And what a precious sleeping angel!
Blanket are super easy to do, especially if you use blanket binding on the outside. If you can sew a straight stitch you are good to go :thumbsup2

I've done several different styles. If I'm making a smallish one I try to pick a fabric that has some sort of shape that I can sew an outline of near the center. Buy sewing around the print on one side it creates the shape on the plain fleece side. For example I've done Winnie the Pooh and I've done a Duck. It makes both sides more interesting and binds the 2 sides. One larger blankets like the cars blanket I sewed the red ribbon on the print side through the solid blue side which left a plain old rectangle on the back side. Kind of boring, but served the purpose. I find that the cotton on one side and fleece on the other makes it plenty warm enough without extra batting. Let me see if there are any kicking around that I can take a photo of.

Those blankets are fantastic - oooh another thing to add to our list for the trip. They *need* blankets for when they watch the fireworks and fantasmic :)
I have been planning a basic minky quilt for both girls with different characters on them but now they will need mini snuggle blankies too ;)

This is HILARIOUS and VERY SCARY at the same time! Could you picture that on a baby's head!:scared: I could just see someone bringing there precious little one home from the hospital with dead rodents on their head!
Yep, nothing says "welcome home!" like dead ferrets! :rotfl2:
Deb
WOW!!! I just assumed some of them were store-bought because they are just fantastic!!! I think you deserve a few of these. :worship: :worship:
I'm so excited! I bought 2 pillowcases tonight. Heidi picked Aurora and Aleah picked Tinker Bell. They are the ones from Kmart. Then we went to Joanns and the girls picked out fabric. I'm washing it now. I also bought some random trim. I can't wait to make these dresses.
The girls wanted me to buy a Cars pillowcase for Colby, but what would I do with it? Make a giant Lightening McQueen on a t-shirt?
I was pondering the same thing. The Lightning McQueen one is really cute, but what would I do with it?
That was the 80's! I have some great ones of him I'm sure! If not, I know I can get some from Bob. If I don't have pictures, I have lots of great stories.
Ooh-ooh!!! I want to hear stories about my BIL and I need to see some 70's pictures, too!!
Yup, that's REALLY crazy!! It's preschool, for goodness sake!!
Let's see the first time I met Brian was at Bob & Liz's. We moved in next door to them in married student housing. Brian & Dave were friends of Bob's and they were always together. Liz was a nurse and worked nights. Chuck was a grad student and worked odd hours. I think the first time I went over when they were playing Euchre. That was our favorite pastime. Euchre- crazy college fun! :rotfl:
I think I can answer that one. People refer to Ebay as Evilbay and Voldemort is evil. And yes he is from Harry Potter.
That's a great guess!
And, good thing you were a married woman, or else, you wouldn't have been able to resist this!

I don't mind at all! If I minded believe me I would not post a picture here. it is cute. someone made an apron top also out of that pillowcase. in case anyone needs them they are $3 clearanced at walmart

My middle daughter LOVES ariel! I'm going to have to make a trip to walmart today! :)
Oh, I wanted to add that I went to Joanns yesterday and scored on the Hands across the world fabric. I was so excited!!! A 40% off coupon and 4 yards later we were on our merry way. :) I stopped at Kohls to see if I could find the Belle pillowcase.....no such luck. Sigh.....this thread is costing me so much money :rotfl2:

How cute!! This gives me another idea for Tessa's Ariel pillowcase. Too bad Anastasia thinks it's babyish- she looks so cute!
Okay, I just have to ask.....how come you guys don't have a pact where you each make copies (or duplicates...whatever you want to call it) for the nieces???? :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Hahahahahaha...oh and feel free to adopt my little one as a niece anytime!!! :cheer2:
'Cuz that's 2x the work!! :rotfl: The first dress I made, I made Lydia a copy. Teresa made Tessa a tutu and a crown and 2 skirts a few years back. Teresa is making ALL the girls (5 of them) ice cream themed skirts and I'm going to applique ice cream cones onto the shirts for Beaches and Cream!
I have not heard "Euchre" in years!!! I think ONLY people from Michigan play that game. (Which probably explains why I don't live in Mi anymore-I Never learned to play!):scared1:
I can NOT figure out how to play euchre. People have tried to teach me and I just sit there with a puzzled expression. Henry and I once ruined a euchre "tournament" because we had no idea what we were doing.

I need to find her a blue necklace like Cinderella's now! This is the bow she wanted in her hair and I wasn't going to argue!
WOW!!!! I love it! And it looks like it may get added to my list as soon as dd4 takes her eyes off the Hello Kitty cartoons long enough to look at it. :rotfl:
 OK here they are....pics of the pillowcase dress and my DD9's outfit.
I loved :lovestruc the whole princess and couldnt bear to cut her head off :scared: for the bodice, so I made it into a huge applique! ;) I made the top big enough to wear for the next year or so in hopes that a Disney vacation will materialize.....popcorn::

It looks great & I can't see anything horrible about the ruffle.

question about a ruffler foot.....
Is it hard to learn how to use? I always hand gather my ruffles so that I know where it's going to be and most importantly.....if I'll have enough!!! With that said, I've got some extra $$$ and thought that might be a good purchase...but I'm rather intimidated by it.

I LOVE Euchre! My Dh and I both play (I taught him though and I'm a better player:rotfl: ) but we don't have any friends that play here in TX. We both grew up in Illinois (close to St. Louis) so maybe it's a midwest thing? Down here they play spaces which is very similar if you play euchre but euchre is faster and I like it better but in the mean time, spades will do!
