Question for those who have stayed at Cypress Pointe

We are headed down to FL in March and booked Cypress Pointe Grand Villa's. I really enjoy staying at a "hotel" and having the hustle and bustle of the hotel (lobby, pool area). Just wondering what the atmostphere is like at CP? Considering this is a timeshare resort, do you get still get the same feeling? :goodvibes

We went to Orlando once and stayed at the Hyatt (now closed) and it was dead:confused: . No one was around and we felt like we were all alone. I didn't like that. I enjoy people watching and hearing everyone having a great time on vacation.:wizard:

you can definitely people watch if you want too.

now it is not constantly busy - like a WDW resort. but it also seem to have someone coming, going - etc.

now there are some villa in a quieter area - just tell the front desk that you want to people watch.

they will probably give you a pool view.

Just so you know, the Grand Villas are not in the same area as Cypress Point. When you get there, you have to turn left to check in, and right for the Grand Villas. Since the check in time is later, I don't know how much "people watching" you can do. Pool view will probably help you "people watch".

Having stayed at both Cypress Pointe Resort (Phase 1) and Cypress Pointe Grande Villas (Phase 2) a number of times I know my preference is for CPR. It is exactly for the reason you state - I find CPGV too quiet as the "action" seems to be around the Clubhouse, Volcano Pool, game room and ponds. Not that CPGV is bad but there is much less hustle and bustle. Some people enjoy that - I prefer the activity. But since they do share all common areas you are free to walk the 200 yards from CPGV to CPR whenever you want and can get some of both. Say HI to Charlie the Macaw for me.

We stayed at CPGV Dec.16th-23rd and saw plenty of people. Definitely request a condo on the pool side of the buildings if you're at CPGV. The buildings surround two pools, a playground, the mini golf course, and the activities building. The condos have screened porches to sit out on to watch the people go by. We had ground floor, but you'd probably be able to see out over everything if you had an upper floor (CPGV has elevators).

"Newer" is a relative term. The buildings are newer by a few years and the floorplan did get a more traditional layout. But what is in those buildings - the furniture, appliances, etc - is actually newer in the "older" Cypress Pointe Resort. Thats because CPR has had a total unit renovation - down to the bare floors - while CPGV basically still has what it was built with although a few items have been changed in the past year or so. It isn't as new as CPR.

If you want elevators you have to pick CPGV. Both are very nice. By RCI measure CPR wins the top ranking while CPGV gets the second level.
