I am wondering if any fellow cross stitchers can help me. I am working on a pattern that calls for the border to be backstitched with GlissenGloss Colorwash C591 (Blackforest) floss. I can't find this at any stores in my area, but could mailorder the floss. Is there a DMC substitution for this color? Is the GlissenGloss worth the extra time hunting it?

The pattern book in question is Stoney Creek 320 "Watercolor Welcome." I will stitch several of the patterns and some designs use this floss for actual cross stitching, as well as borders. I would like all the designs to work together, so I am concerned about substituting floss and wanted a second opinion.

Thank you.

Thank you. That is a nice site. I think I will mail order the correct floss since it is used in all the patterns. If I am taking the time to do the projects, I should do them correctly. I appreciate your reply.

I ordered my Glissengloss, plus Mill Hill beads, from www.needleworkplus.com. Great selection and low shipping cost.

K9Pal, thanks for the link. I have it bookmarked. There is a cross stitch supply store in the small town where my mother lives. They stock the thread I need and my mom is mailing me a package. It is nice to know an additional source, so thank you.
