My son and I got back last night, after 4 WONDERFUL days at the world! It was a *suprise* trip for him - I asked him to come with me early Thursday morning to pick my boss up at the airport!

I wanted to let everyone know about a "prize" that is availible that I hadnt seen mentioned yet - a "Dream Hour"

We were just exiting Haunted Mansion and the ride stopped - when we got to the hallway a Dream Team'er handed us a button! My son and I were PSYCHED! We never win anything and we thought we won a button!!! We were giddy! YAY! :hyper: WE WON A BUTTON!

The CM told us to "make sure we get our wristband!"

Wristband? Wristband for what?

The park was open a whole hour after close for a small amount of people. We met in Tomorrowland at closing time. They had a DJ and the Captain of the Dream team there, who asked "Ever dream you could have the whole park to yourself?" They played some music and then you-know-who came out and announced the park was open only for us!!! We literally ran from ride to ride to ride! In that hour we hit:

Pirates
Big Thunder, twice
Haunted Mansion
Peter Pan
Dumbo
Carousel

It was AMAZING! And so cool, and so crazy! Everyone was running around, giggling and laughing! It was TOTALLY cool! No lines, no people.... pixiedust: The park was ours!!!

And when the park finally closed up, this is what we had waving goodbye to us:

I know, I know, I know.... I wish I knew EXACT number..... Gosh, my son and I even talked about it, trying to figure it out.

SInce we all met in Tomorrowland, by the stage - I was looking around, and trying to judge and I'd say 200, maybe 300 people? Seriously NOT A LOT. It was insanly cool...

Think of it this way - no wait, for anything, what-so-ever, at all - no kidding!!!

pixiedust: Now I'm really looking forward to our March trip. Maybe I'll win a button. :rotfl2: DD is thinking I'm going to win a cake. That's all I ever win--I rock at the cakewalk. Hey, I like cake, so that'll be good if it happens.

We sat next to a lady at MGM that won the same thing (I assume the same night), she said she was on the Keys to the Kingdom tour and the guide knew at such and such time at the Haunted Mansion they were handing them out and took them over for that ride. She said the tour guide said 2000 were handed out.

I was wondering because that would be an awful lot of people in one place and I knew you met back up at a certain time. I wonder if they really give that many assuming most won't stay or come back, they had already left the park and weren't planning on going back!

The only thing I have ever won in my life is a case of whiskey and I don't drink. Nuff to drive me to drink though. :scratchin

YES!!! That was Mickey letting the rest of the Magic Kingdom know that the Dream Hour has begun!!!pixiedust:

And if they indeed handed out 2000 *buttons* then not even close to 10% of the people showed up - it was CRAZY empty!! IT WAS SO COOL!

Yes - thank you! Thats "Post Main Street Hair Cut"! :thumbsup2

The man in the middle is the "Captain of the Dream Team" I couldnt tell you his name I was too FREAKED OUT and excited to pay attention.

It did seem SO surreal. I was looking around thinking "You gotta be KIDDING me!!!"

And I never run - ever. My mom used to say the only time I'd run is if someone was chasing me....and maybe not even then, and Ill tell you I was a running FOOL that night. Jogging, running, laughing and giggling from ride to ride. Running past other running people who were laughing - it was really, really, really NEAT!

I was super jealous of all the "Dream Ears" I saw walking around - and Ill tell you, *this* was the BEST dream I could have ever dreamt up! pixiedust:

That makes a big difference. We're going in August, and I imagine that the park closes at 11 some nights. After being in the summer heat and parks all day (even with an afternoon break), my kids would struggle to enjoy the extra hour prize. But, it really is a dream to have the park to yourself!!

AAAAAAAAAAWWWESOOOOOOME!
I have to say, as incredibly exciting, amazing and sureal as that extra hour was in the MK....the lifetime memory of you and your son being together for it is the REAL "dream"....you two will forever have that time, so VERY cool! That photo you have in front of PP needs to be framed and set out to see, the sheer happiness in your DS's eyes is the real deal. I'd even put the button in there too, like a shadow box, maybe your room key etc.
I think when guests receive a surprise that they are not aware of, like this, makes it even more thrilling! This couldn't have happened to a nicer family, thanks for sharing, and again, :bday: party:

So, are you planning your NEXT trip?:hyper: People always say "this will be hard to beat"...this was a keeper trip, let it be the star on, and plan the next one as it's own amazing WDW experience!

Have a great day!

We won something on our last trip, too. We were at MK in December and dh and I were picked to be Grand Marshalls of the Family Day Parade!! We also won the Dream Hour that day, It was while we were exiting off Space Mountain. A few hundred people winning seems about right. But if anyone out there wins on future trips leave Tomorrowland when it begins, the lines there were longer than they were during the day. DD13 just wanted to ride Space Mountain, we rode about 4 times and once on Buzz.

Make sure to ride the rides, we heard on the radio on the way up that the first person selected to stay in the castle was pick by a computer for sitting in a certain seat on Star Tours, at that precise moment. That when he exited the ride the CM held him back to tell them what they won. Just think what could be won for riding that certain ride.

No they don't split you up. When we won that same dream at MGM, my daughter and I were on the Back Lot Tour, my husband wasn't feeling well and was afraid to go knowing it would be a while before he could get to the restrooms, so he stayed behind. I told the CM who was putting on the wristbands and giving out buttons that my husband was in the park, just not on the Tour with us and she had us go see another CM who simply gave us an extra wristband and button, and told us not to lose it. :)

jensen
02-03-2007, 12:44 PM
We have some friends who won the extra hour at MGM in December. They said there were 1,000 people given wristbands to stay in the park. The way the won was coming off of RNR a CM stopped my friend and asked how many people were in his party. They were a group of five. They weren't all on the ride, but they all got to stay with him that evening. He kept going back and fourth between TOT and RNR and rode both about 4 times that hour.

Fantasmic303
02-03-2007, 10:02 PM
Thanks, Magic and jensen!! It's quite a relief that if we were lucky enough to win a Dream Hour our entire party could enjoy it.

(Mostly because there'd be no living with anyone who WASN'T with the winning group if we couldn't all win!!)

My friends and I also won this dream on 1/27.

It was the first day of our trip, we were getting off of Space Mountain, our first ride of the day. The Dream Team pulled us aside, gave us buttons and wristbands for the extra hour later that night.

We talked to a couple CMs later and were told that they had given out 2000 wristbands, but it sure didn't seem like there were that many people.

We rode every ride at least once and stayed on Big Thunder 6 times in a row!

Given what's being posted about the lackluster attendance for P&P parties.. maybe they should give away 1000 tickets for that?! :)
