Another question, sorry.... ;)

Just trying to work out how much we are likely to need per day for food etc? I know it is a bit like asking 'how long is a piece of string' but we have no idea!
There are 5 of us, 2 adults, 1 12 year old, and two under 11s, and we want to eat at nice restaurants once a day and quick snacks the rest of the time. We are not planning to do Buffalo Bills but want to do cafe Mickey, Walts, and Planet Hollywood for main meals.
We are there for 4 nights, can anyone advise a rough amount per day we may need to allow?

Any suggestions at all gratefully received!

TIA

You can look at www.dlpfoodguide.com. It has every menu from all eating places in DLP and more importantly prices. You will find that most of the counter service places cost much and such so should give you a good idea on how much you need.

Hope this helps:)

If you are definitely sure you will be eating at Planet Hollywood - then have a look at this book

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brits-Guide-Disneyland-Resort-Guides/dp/0572031793/sr=8-1/qid=1170075881/ref=sr_1_1/026-7460451-1123651?ie=UTF8&s=books

It comes with a 20% off voucher for Planet Hollywood.

Em,

We always find DLRP very expensive for meals. As a guideline only we spend about 90 euros per evening meal (CM, LN, SH Invention, Annettes etc) for 2 adults and 1 child.

Daytime snack in The Cowboy cookout /McDonlads/ Fuente del oro etc at about 30 euros for us all.

These prices are inclusive of soft drinks.

Hope that helps a little.

It may be that the half board or half board plus plans may suit you. Have a look here (http://offers.disneylandparis.co.uk/packages/tailor-made-dreams/half-board-meal-plans.xhtml)

we went with dd4 and dd1 plus 2 adults we were spending at least £65 a day on snacks, drinks and evening meal - however dh had wine with his meal (1/4 btl) and we did have pudds most days, we didn't order baby food though

that inlcuded crepes and hot chocs but nothing too over the top

Thankyou so much everybody, I now have a much better idea of what I will need to allow... it ain't cheap, is it lol

At least I am prepared for it though, is good to know what other people ended up spending.

Thanks for the link to the reviews etc, it was very useful.

Had not considered half-board but will also look into that.

Getting very excited now, only 6 more sleeps lol  :yay:  :cheer2:

No its not cheap. I find though if you are eating a large meal in the evening I tend to go for the kids meals during the day and they are enough for me:)

Hi,

there are a lot of restaurant in the big Val D'Europe shopping mall (only one station away.) There you can eat in an italian restaurant for 15 Euro/person (inkl. soft drink) or less and you can buy your snacks in the really large supermarket with a lot of choices. Much cheaper than the gas station.
You can try the lunch offer in the King Ludwigs (approx 11 Euro) in the village. Planet Hollywood is too expensive for my taste. Walt's is always a good choice. It is always good to be a shareholder...
You can get a snack in the Salon Mickey an you get a 10% discount in the table service restaurant...Maybe you should try the buffet in the Auberge de Cendrillion or the Plaza Garden. Both are very nice (Good weather ->Auberge, bad weather->Plaza Garden). OK the the Plaza Garden can be crowded.
Cafe Mickey is IMHO only good, if you want to meet a lot of characters.

Greetings

kaido

We have a family similar to yours, 2 adults, toddler and 2 older boys and we were spending approx E40 for lunches (counter service, croque monsieurs, burgers, that sort of thing) then about E20 for coffee and snacks mid afternoon then our evening meals (3 course for adults, 2 course for kids including drinks) were about E120. So about £120 a day or so? We ate at restaurants in the village or park every meal though as we wanted to try them out, and we didn't have a bad meal. We went to Cafe Mickey, Annette's, Rainforest Cafe (probably our best meal, contrary to some reviews), Buffalo Bills amongst others.

Emmylou, I'd be interested to know how much you do end up spending. I'm going with my husband and 3 children age 12, 14 and 15. The youngest doesn't eat as much, but the other two eat adult portions. We're going for 4 nights and will be eating in the park/village for 5 days. It will be expensive, but in order to make the most of the holiday I don't want to be worrying about money or telling the kids they can't have what they want. We're doing Buffalo Bill's so that will be one meal taken care of!

Hi Lily73,

Just to let you know what we spent...

For 6 of us (3 adults, one 12 year old, a 10 year old and a 4 year old) we were typically spending about E30 on a morning snack (donuts, cookies etc and coffees, tea and water which the kids tended to share) then we uusually had chips and hotdogs/nuggets etc early afternoon which was around E40ish each day. For tea the first night we went to the New York Style place in the Village - huge mistake, we only had sandwiches and kids meals and it cost about E53 which was NOT worth it and it was horrible food! The next night we ate at the Planet Hollywood - we had 3 kids meals and three main courses and drinks and it was about E70 which was worth it, the food was lovely. We also went there the next night as you get 20% off if you keep your receipt and are seated before 5pm. We had a bit more this time and it was still E70ish and well worth it. Our last night we ate at Cafe Mickey and it was excellent! We had 3 kids meals and three adult mains with drinks, cost E123 and tasted delicious. And we met all the characters too. If your 12-year-old doesn't eat much then get them to pretend they are 11 for the kids meals (which is what we did). They don't check anyway.

Hope this helps! And have a good time!
Em :)

That's very useful Em - thank you :goodvibes

I agree about the food at New York Style sandwiches - it really isn't anything to write home about, and especially at that price!! :earseek: I'm sure it used to be nicer than it is now! :confused3

This is good to know, as we had considered having lunch there one day.

My 12 year old (who doesn't eat much) will easily pass for 11 but whether she will be satisfied with the limited choice that kids menus offer remains to be seen!

Thanks for getting back to me Em :)
