So we are going to WDW in December. 26- Jan 2
We actually stay with family when we go, but I REALLY want to stay at WL.
Just for one night. Do you think this is ridiculous?
It's about $500 for the night, and we won't do any parks that day just enjoy WL.
I have heard that this place is awesome at Christmas time.

Can you swim in December? Are the pools heated?
What else is there to do at WL?

If the money's no object, then do it if you want to. If you'd have to trade off something else you wanted to do, then I'd consider visiting the resort to check out the decorations and perhaps eat a meal, but not get a room. Deluxe rooms are nice, of course, but most of the spectacular-ness of the resorts is still in the architecture and main public areas, imho.

The pools are heated. The air is not. :) What's comfy is up to you.

Are you aloud to enjoy the pool if you are not staying at the resort?

I love WL, I really (been there done that and going back) but for $500.00 for one night, that's a heap o' dough. I can afford to do that, I'm not rich, but I can afford to splurge on occasion. I don't think I would spend that kind of money for my "Home away from home" I think I would rather put that money away for a trip that included a few days at the Lodge. I think you would appreciate it more.

As for using the pool. Nope, if your not staying there, worse yet not even on Disney property, they might consider it trespassing (not sure of Florida law) They probably wouldn't notice you there, it's a little risky IMHO, a little embarrassing too if you got caught.

If money is not a factor, I'd stay, just to say you did. If it is, you could just go for a visit and a meal and enjoy the atmosphere. There wouldn't be enough to do to keep you busy for a day, unless you do swim, and that's iffy. You could always stay the night at AKL, where there would be more to do, such as the storyteller and the animals, and then go over to WL for a meal and walking around. We stay value, but visit the nicer places to eat and enjoy the different atmosphere.

We could "afford" to pay that, but I personally wouldn't. I just can't see paying that kind of money for a room. Again, that's just me. Having said that, if you can swing it, I hope you guys have fun. I've heard WL is very nice during the holidays, as is the entire Disney resort. We LOVE going to Orlando at Christmas. We've done Disney in the past, but did US/SW this past Christmas. Have fun!!!

We will be staying with friends who live 10 mins from WDW Nov. 21 - Dec. 1 this year. We plan on staying 2 nights at the WL about midway through the trip. We are very excited about this. Plus, it will help "break up" the stay with our friends, giving us a couple nights of just family time, and give them a break too. I say if you can swing it, go for it!!! Have fun!
