Okay-I need some help! I have to cars reserved for our trip, both are minivans and both are $199.
Here is my question...one is with national (Emerald Membership) and one is with Dollar. Which car company should I go with???
I have read quite a bit of "bad" stuff with National lately so I am nervous! We will be picking our car up on a Saturday morning in early Feb!
Thanks for the help!
Laura :)

We have only rented with Dollar and have always been very happy. The vehicles were always clean and with low miles. They carry Dodge Caravans for the minivan class. If you do go with Dollar, be sure to sign up for their free "Fastlane" program because you go to the front of the line at the counter. The link to join can be found at their www.dollar.com

Yes-- go with Dollar!!! We have always rented from Dollar and have never had any problems. This last trip I rented from National and it was a nightmare (the post is here on the Transportation Board). Since you have reserved a minivan (how DID you get $199 at National?) rather than rented thru the Emerald Aisle and hoping for an upgrade, you shouldn't have a terrible experience. However, as you say, the posts from National have been pretty depressing lately, and I just read one where they had reserved a minivan and ended up squished into a Blazer!. I would go with Dollar! We have NEVER had a problem with them, and I'll be renting from them from now on. BTW, did you check out L&M? I think you can get info on them from travelnow.com, or maybe travelocity.com. Last time I checked, they had minivans for $169 when Dollar was $209 and everyone else was $250 or higher, and the few posts here say that L&M is reputable, with clean, new vehicles and they are located in-terminal at MCO.

I'm with Dollar too....never had luck getting any great rates from National, so stayed away from them. I've used Dollar in Florida and trips to Arizona and been pleased with them...so far anyway...so until they make me mad about something I'll stick with them. Planning on using them in Feb. out of Regional Southwest Airport in Florida, so we like em!

When ever we rent a minivan, Dollar has always beat National. Not always so on full size cars. Then I have to price all the on airport agencies. (except L&M)

I have a friend who was there last week. She had a reservation with Dollar, when she got into the line at Dollar someone from L & M came over and said he could beat their price. She went to their counter (next door) and he lowered her price from $24.99 a day to $19.99. She got a Toyota Carolla, she said it was great. Return was very easy.

I have rented from both Dollar and National numerous times and have never had a problem with either. Now, Alamo, that's another story... ;)

Okay, after reading this thread, and all the negative ones about National, I just cancelled my National ressie and made one with Dollar. I feel much better about it now!! Thanks for all the good replies about Dollar!

Thank you everyone!
I have decided to go with Dollar for two reasons: one is all the great info here, number two is that I emailed dollar about the child saftey seats in the minivans. A very nice manager returned my email and asked for my reservation # and arrival date and said he would make sure that the van had the child seat and if there was any problems to have dollar contact him and gave me his number. Now that is customer service and I was impressed! Dollar has won me over! WDW here I come! :)
