We were in MGM on Thursday all day. Ds's(8) FAVORITE ride/movie is Star Tours (wars). Well ds (3) is too little to ride so dh and I were going to do the "child swap" option. On the way into the attraction there were Storm Troopers everywhere "guarding the ride" and lo and behold there was Darth Vadar! That was thrilling in itself because we NEVER see them. Well....dh and ds(8) went on the attraction while myself and ds(3) waited. The Cm started chatting with us and we were talking about how uncrowded it was. She then excused herself only to come back and say "I know your little guy is too small the ride the attraction but how would you like to ride it without the motion simulator"? I said"SURE!!! Would my ds(8) and dh be able to ride as well"? She said "of course! The 4 of you can ride it by yourselves"!!!! My jaw dropped and I was just beaming thinking how cool that would be to ride the ride alone!!! She walked away AGAIN and came up to ds (3) and said"Would you mind if a few others rode with you"??? Of course he is CLUELESS and I spoke up and said sure...that would be fine with us....I had NO IDEA that the other few were 2 STORM TROOPERS AND DARTH VADAR!!! I about died...thinking that my ds (8) would just drop to the floor!! :thumbsup2 So the doors open and I see ds and dh getting out of their seatlbelts...I yell"stay were you are we are coming in to ride"!!!! My dh said "what is going on"? (almost nervous! lol) my ds (8) eyes just got as big as golf balls... I said "we are all riding the ride with MATT, STORM TROOPERS and DARTH" !!!!!!!! People getting off the ride were just staring and WE RODE STAR TOURS AS A FAMILY WITH STORM TROOPERS AND DARTH!!!! IF was AMAZING!!! My oldest was excited, nervous and just dumbfounded!!! My little guy had a blast and my dh was the biggest kid of them all! After the ride we were given a certificate and a coupon for 2 free ice creams!!!
THIS WILL BE A MOMENT WE WILL NEVER FORGET!!! :cool1: :cool1: I will post pics when I have them loaded in a few days!

This happened in 2004 but it is probably a little girls dream come true for sure. I wrote a couple days ago on one of these threads that my 2 young daughters and my hubby and i were on the way across the lake by ferry. My daughters were 3 and 5 at the time. As we came around the bend and saw the castle in the distance my daughters just jumped up and down and were yelling "Cinderella is real!!!"One of the CM must have heard the noise as most of the people were laughin and smiling around us as my hubby taped it all on the video camera. I had tears in my eyes...they were hugging and hugging each other. Anyways we got off the boat and while waiting in line I noticed that CM walked past us and never said a word. We entered the gate and were standing under the railroad station putting on sunscreen...when we heard a voice ..."thats a very good idea putting sunscreen on...us princesses cant have sunburns!" We turned around and you guessed it...Cinderella!!!!! My daughters froze and so did I ...as my hubby stumbled for the camera....lol. She said "I hope you will see my show in front of the castle in a few minutes"...and my daughters nodded. Needless to say we went to the show....and she waved to our daughters as she passed us....my kids have never forgotten that.:) Got to love Disney!!!!

I think the best things about these stories is that they were so simple for disney to acheive and pretty much didn't cost them much, yet, left a wonderful memory in your mind and surely makes you want to go back! Good publicity for disney and wonderful memories. Win, win situation!

:thumbsup2 YOU KNOW IT!!! Very simple for Disney....no extra $$$ for them either BUT BOY OH BOY do my kids want to go back!! :lmao: :lmao:I know that in the back of their minds they have a plan (just like any business)"make the customer/guest happy and they will return"!! I have to say though that Disney sure does make the "little things" matter!!!!!!! Darth was already in costume walking the attraction....BUT the 10 minutes that he spent with US is a memory NEVER forgotten!!! That IS the DISNEY DIFFERENCE!!!

WOW WOW WOW WOW! That is so very very cool!
The closest we ever got to that is seeing Darth Vader walking down the hallway after you exit the Star Tours ride. My DS 7 or 8 at the time was so excited. A CM let us follow him down the hall but he dissapeared and we never saw him after that. For the rest of the trip including all since then we've tried to find him, but we never have.
I can't stop saying WOW - That is so totally cool!
Congrats on the once in a lifetime memory that your son's will never forget!

I am happy for all of you that received a Magical Dream moment. We were at Disney World from Feb 10th - 18th but did not experience any Magical Dream moments. We had hoped to at least experience a small moment but to get nothing was really disappointing. We did create our own magical moments like riding in the front of the monorail 5 times.

Funny you should say that....the whole time we were experiencing this it NEVER dawned on us that it was just kids in costumes!!! It felt SOOOO real. It was not until we got home that I said to dh "pretty amazing that we got that excited about someone in a costume"!!! It was SOOO real! I think I mentioned that my ds was actually nervous because he thought Darth might do the death grip!!:lmao:

I know this is an older post, but it's just such a cool story, I had to comment! And I had to say something about your 6'6" comment! Those movies came out when I was in elementary school and I read all of the novelizations. One of the things I always remember about them is that they always referred to Darth Vader as being two meters tall (as is Chewbacca). Two meters is roughly 6'6" tall! So, not only is Disney really faithful in their depiction, but you're an excellent judge of height! ;)

Loved this Dream story!! My brother would have died and gone to heaven if that'd happened to him lol!! He's 28 now but when he was only 4/5 we were in Hamleys toy store in London and there was a Star Wars promotion happening. We went to get in the lift and when the doors opened Darth Vada was in there....my brother refused to get in a lift with him!!!

Just to be sure, we're bringing some of our own magic along. My DNiece, who is in grad school in Utah, will be joining us the 2nd half of our trip and it will be a complete surprise for my DD7! I'll tell her it's her special birthday surprise (she'll turn 8 a few days after we leave) I can't wait! Now, to just to be able to keep it a secret-Shhhhhh!:wizard:
