I posted eearlier this week that I am renting a home in EI for Easter Week. I sent an email to the owner on 1/17/07 with some questions since final payment is due soon. I haven't heard back from him yet.

Someone posted that some parts of England have had bad weather, so maybe he is without power and cannot email people. I hope that is the case and that he is safe.

My final payment is due next week and I do not feel comfortable sending it without hearing from him first. I went on www.villas2000.com to see if I could find his phone number or some alternate information and now I cannot find the house on there. His website www.palmbreezevilla.com still is active.

Any thoughts? I am nervous because we are travelling with another family and I am the "planner." It feels like such a burden esp if something were to go wrong.

There is a phone number listed on the contact link of the website. Given your concerns, why not invest in the phone call?

When I clicked on contact, nothing came up but a blank screen. I will try again.

I would call, sometimes it can take a few days if someone is, say, travelling, but 8 is a bit on the high side.

Now, when it comes to email, there is absolutely no guarantee your email message was ever received. AOL, hotmail, and comcast have all, in the past 3 months, increased the level of spam checking and rejection, and in many cases, AOL for instance, just deletes suspected spam emails and doesn't even notify the members this happened!! This is becoming a real problem for homeowners who count heavily on emails to communicate with guests, bottom line, email is still fairly unreliable.

So, maybe they never even got your email!

I wouldn't panic about it, I would just call, usually these kinds of situations end up working out just fine.

I'd give them a call too:)

The UK is what, 6 hours ahead of EST..? For the sake of a $5 or $6 phone call this afternoon, I would give them a jingle.

But, most likely, they're just catching up:)

I can send you a pm with the number, it came up okay for me:)

I have looked it up on the Osceola Property appraisers web site.

Also I have put it on both of the EI forums asking if any one is in contact with these individuals.

If I hear anything back I will both post and pm you with the info.

I have been on both EI forums and they ae not known to any members I am in touch with.

That does not mean this is fraud or anything like it. Just means that they are not active with the HOA forum.

Thank you everyone for your help. I finally heard back frmo the owner last night and all is well with the reservation. I inquire about using a credit card for the security deposit and he said we could. THanks again!
