Can anyone recommend any particular service stations to take a break on the drive from Calais to DLRP? This is the first time when driving abroad that we're going far enough to need to make a stop. (The cowards we are we usually pick destinations within an hours drive from the port!)

Thanks,

Libby

Theres one at Wancourt or something like that, its just after you switch roads tot he A1,

Seems to be about half way for us.

All the services are great value compared to the UK ones.

I can't help you as it is only the thought of an accident in the back seat that would make me want to stop on route;)
Seriously thought most stop are very nice. The stops with petrol stations usually include a picnic area and a cafe :)

I'd top up with petrol before you leave Calais.

I tend to drive straight through - it's only 3 hours and usually the driving is a lot better than in the UK.

Just after you switch to the A1 is halfway so I'd take the Wancourt advice if you think you need a stop.

On a related note - make sure you are completely sure what you are doing when you transition off the A1 just after Charles De Gaulle airport. It is as confusing as hell.

Thanks for your replies. We usually stop every 2 hours on journeys so Wancourt sounds like it would suit us. Sav, I'm not sure we're ever completely sure of what we're doing when I'm navigating so thanks for the warning.

according to my Michelin motorway atlas which is alittle out of date 2001 I think.

On the A1 there are much more facilities at ASEVILLERS both east & west. It is between junction 13 & 13.1

Wancourt is between junction 14 & 15

Thanks Sue, I'll bear that in mind too.
