He's a Blue Heeler. We were looking for one for our 9 year old son and my aunt found him @ the vet's office that she works at. The people who originally bought him decided he was too much work. He is a wonderful puppy (only 7 months old now). It's really amazing what a perfect fit he is for our family - He & my son have the same tempermant & energy level!

Ann, so sorry for your loss....Mr Winkle was just precious...we lost our Dixie in Dec and still miss her every day...but we are able to take some comfort in knowing she is now with our Cookie Dog and Mickey Blue Eyes

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

This is utterly heartbreaking. I am SO sorry for your loss. So, very sorry. People can be such heartless monsters. I hope you caught them and they get what they deserve (and then a little more).

oh this just made me cry :sad1: I am so sorry for your loss and what a beautiful dog Gus was. I really hope that these evil excuses for human beings were caught and paid for what they have done although no amount of punishment will be enough!

Thank you for your kind responses about my sweet boy, Gus. He was a dog we adopted from an animal rescue group after he was beaten to within an inch of his life. He was the gentlest, sweetest dog you could ask for.

The guys who did this to him were caught, and I have spoken with the district attorney. They are going to charge them with attempted burglary and an animal cruelty charge. You can bet I will be there when that goes to court with my pictures of Gus!

Pea-n-me---He was a very special dog! As for the SPCA, we don't have a local chapter here, but we do have several animal groups who are already rallying for his memory. He will be well represented in and out of court. It's just hard right now watching my two boys ages 3 and 6 dealing with their grief of missing Gus. They loved him a bunch!

I just read your post about Gus, and I am sooo sorry! :sad1: I'm literally crying right now. I agree with linda - there's a special place in hell for creeps who do stuff like this. Please keep us posted when these @#$@! go to court and are punished. My prayers will be with you.

Maekchu (the Korean word for beer) was born in Korea. We got him as a pup when we were stationed there. He had a long, full life of 16 years. This picture is special because it's the last time our boys were together. Our son left after this picture was taken for basic training, in the Air Force. Maekchu made it through basic, but we had to put him down about a month ago, while our son was/is in tech school.

I was sure I wasn't ready for another dog for the past month. I still miss our old boy terribly. Last week my wife found Bear.

Wow that maverick is really photogenic. what is your trick for catching the personality in the eyes? my cat never cooperates.

He really is just photogenic, but I guess there are is one thing that might help. To add life to the image, the eyes really do need a little sparkle or catchlight. Without catchlights, your subject will usually look dull or lifeless. We are programmed to look straight at the eyes...

To get the catchlights without using direct flash (which creates even bigger problems because of the flat lighting) I usually bounce the flash of the ceiling. I find that easier than carrying around a big softbox! :)

Thank you everyone! :flower3: We all know how hard it is, and I know she is out of any pain. :angel: This morning poor Charlotte (the dog in my avatar) went straight under the stairs to look for Shadow like she did each day - so even dogs can miss cats. :sad2:

First, is Lolly, 11 year old Pekingese! She is such a doll, she goes everywhere with us, especially now that we run our own business! We couldn't have asked for a better dog if we had "engineered" one ourselves!

Thanks guys. She's a good dog, but we had a small incident last night. I brought her inside last night and forgot to make sure my cats were put up. Well, she grabbed my smallest cat and shook her like a rag doll. :scared1: Thankfully I was right there and screamed and grabbed the dog and she let go and the cat ran away.

Took Autumn (the cat) to the vet this morning after not getting any sleep last night being worried about her. She's got a couple of bite marks, but nothing deep thank goodness. So she is on antibiotic for 10 days to make sure they don't get infected.

I feel horrible, it was totally my fault. :sad1: I should have been more careful, but it was late and I was tired. Other than that she's been a good girl. She slept in the crate all night without making a peep, and right now she's outside on a lawn chair chilling on the patio. I'm just keeping everyone separated now, she did ok with two of the dogs, but I'm not taking any more chances. My DH is taking her to his mother's this afternoon where she will be the only animal there.

She is Heartworm positive, but I talked to the vet this morning and he said that at her age there's no sense in treating it, which is kind of what I figured.

The coyote that you can see in the middle of the pic between my horses is NOT my pet and I wish they (there were 5 or 6 of them) would start hanging out somewhere else. We have heard them so many times in the past few weeks. If it was only at night I wouldn't worry, but my brave but stupid border collie likes to wander our pasture during the day and make sure there are no "intruders" and I would hate to have him get in a fight.

I had a scare with Charlotte this week - I found 2 paralysis ticks on her. Luckily they were found early enough and she is on the road to recovery. She is back home now and resting on her bed, where she feels comfy. Unfortunately the vet had to shave her fur off! Luckily it is summer and quite warm, but I will have to watch her when she goes into the sun!

I know Linda - she looks really different! I put her as a cross between a German Shepherd, a Great Dane and a kangaroo..!!! :confused3 Poor thing! But she is well on the way to recovery, albeit a slow road! She is doing a lot of sleeping!

Love your Cav! I have a Blenheim named Penny, and she think she's the boss of the house too! :> I love how outgoing they are. She truly loves every person she meets. Mine just had surgery in October for a luxing patella, although she didn't get a cast. Did Gizzie have that problem too?

That's good to hear. Since our vet didn't use a cast, she had to wear a cone whenever we weren't around for a month, and she was miserable. I'd hate to have to put her through it again.

They are very photogenic and are not freaked out when a big DSLR gets stuck in their face. Our third cat runs and hides under the bed when the camera is out. They are my test subjects for experimenting with different lighting and lenses.
