I am in the market for a new digital camera that is not really expensive, for our WDW trip in Aug. I saw this in the Sunday Target ad:

Aiptek Camcorder/camera: All in one digital MPEG-4 camcorder and 5-megapixel, maximum resolution camera with image stabilization.

Does anyone know anything about this camera.....is it decent to use for vacation photos? It uses an SD card. I was wondering if anyone ever heard of this, and what exactly is MPEG-4? Thanks in advance.

Not to discourage you, but that is not a high quality brand. You will probably not be satisfied with the results. These types of cameras generally use very tiny lenses and even smaller sensors. The way I understand it is that they can basically capture about a 0.5MP image and the software just stretches it to be the size of a 5MP image. The true resolution is closer to the 0.5MP side of things. Think quality compared to the first generation of camera phones.

If you want to stay cheap, go for a Kodak, Samsung, Fuji, Canon, Nikon, i.e. major brand. Most brands have something cheap and many now have video.

Thanks! You are not discouraging me at all.....I really wanted an honest opinion. I kinda guessed that it wasn't that good of a camera. Looks like I will be sticking with a major brand....thanks for your help:goodvibes
