well yeah maybe I can...I am an AP holder and have this little thing on my desktop called disney dashboard and for those of you who arent AP's, it gives closures and programing for the next 4 days, a personal quote from Walt, wallpaper, and news...well today, I went on it and I had a popup of a "news update" so I clicked on it and lo and behold it said that from Jan 28-Feb 15 they were offering a special for AP holders...so I called just to see and they have Pool room or DCA view rooms for $208 a night at the GC...well heck, I paid that last month for DLH...I have been planning on going back for 1 day ONLY next month but what did I do???? yep you guessed it....I booked a GC room for Feb 9-10th...Im a nut what can I say??? Im crazy for DL:banana: so I guess Im going back again:confused3

Awesome deal. Great that you could take advantage of it!!!!:cool1:
I love Disney dashboard. Great new addition to my computer when they rolled it out. Dh doesn't understand it and tends to make things disappear on computers without meaning to. I'm afraid he will mess something up if he clicks on it. I've warned him that I would smack his hand if he touches my dashboard. :rotfl2:

oooo-I'm jealous! I was just drooling over how I'd love to stay at the GC some day! I'm was trying to devise a plan for next Christmas-and I haven't even been to DL yet LOL!
All the excitement here is contagious! :)

Yep, I called today for our weekend trip on the 8-10, and rates are $129 at PP, $139 at DLH and $189 at GC for standard views. Great rates, wish I could take advantage!!! Hope some others can get them!

Thanks for posting! For some reason, I didn't get the pop-up???
If I mention returned in two weeks after going for MLK AND buying DVC, I think my husband's head will explode. I'd better keep him around a while...:cloud9:
Calling my DSis about the rates. I very much agree that the excitement of these boards is contagious! That should be a tag.

oh yeah I am really excited....when I went this past visit (nov 35-dec 1) the whole trip was planned around my god daughter 5 as her christmas present but we couldnt get her out of school that long so seeing as the trip is going to be for a friday and saturday I thought maybe we could get her out of school for just 2 days and yep it worked...her mom said she could go:banana: and she has no idea about it hehehe!...I keep contemplating whether I should keep it at GC or switch over to DLH for her...on one hand staying at GC we will get a DCA view which she will love and the rate is amazing for the property ...but on the other hand, DLH is so magical...I dont know which one to choose:confused: what do you guys think?? one perk of staying at GC is its closer to the parks and we can go right through to DCA...however, DCA doesnt open for 2 hours prior to DL opening...the only downside to staying in DLH is its a long walk to DL gates...well for me it is anyway....so what should I do?

DLH seems more kid oriented with the Neverland pool and Goofy's kitchen. DTD is really close and the monorail. I don't think there is a right or wrong. Whichever you chose she's one lucky little girl!!!

I prefer the DLH over the GCH. And you can't beat the monorail service which drops you so close to the DLH at the end of a long day in DL. I find that I'm fresh enough to walk through DTD in the mornings, but depend on the monorail when I'm heading back to the hotel.

That is sooo exciting. We were debating upgrading our tickets in March to AP because we will be back in Dec and I think we will get our moneys worth. Now that I hear I can get a better rate at the DLH on selected dates....I HAVE to do it! How exciting...congrats! :woohoo:

Jemilah - Depending what you are paying it would be possibly really worth it for you to get an AP while you are there. You can book the rates now and just upgrade during your trip and show it to the front desk.
If your upgrade cost for one AP was $100 and you would be saving more than that, you should go for it even if you won't be back this year!

What do you mean, it's only $209 for a theme park view at GC! That's only a difference of $80 a night. And only a difference of $50 a night if you go standard view GC.

the quote given to me included tax and everything and it was $509 for GC and $311 give or take a couple bucks for DLH...so thats close enough to $200 for me lol

Yes I guess the taxes on $50 more a night would add up! But even with $189 x 2, I called and got $465 for 2 nights. That is standard view, you must have been quoted the $209 price. But it's still even $150, but since you can hardly ever get the GC for $189 anymore, if you have the means I would definitely go for it!!!
You deserve it!!

I have never stayed at the Grand Californian and have always wanted to. She really wanted to stay there , but the only price we had seen was $260/night. This is totally worth getting the annual pass.
Also, when I called to ask for the AP rate, they told me it was 10% off and would be $308/night. I mentioned that I had specifically heard about a rate of $189, and what do you know, she found that rate! You have to ask and know what you want.
I wish I was going.

I really hope you get to stay there!! Do you have anyone that can go with you and help share the cost? It's much easier to swallow at half price, I'd try like heck to find someone that would go with you! Shoot, I'll be there those days but I'll have three little ones with me!
Either way, both hotels are great and you will have a great trip! Glad you decided to extend it to make it a little mini vacation!

For that great rate, I would do the GCH. Only because I, personally, wouldn't want to spend the insane amount of money they ask normally, yet I would love to try it out sometime.
I wish we could go around that time but no go.

Maybe a dumb question, but do you have to have to have an AP to get Disney Dashboard? It sounds neat!
Thanks!

I don't think you could go wrong with either one of them. We have stayed at both and love them both. I think for this rate though I would go with the GC if I had the money for it. I keep trying to talk DH into staying at DLH during this time frame but so far it is a no go.
