My family is heading to Fort Wilderness early this spring for our first trip. I was hoping some of you vets could help me with few questions.....:)

(we are traveling in our 32 ft motor home; with 7 yr old, 5 yr old and 3 dogs)

Are we allowed to set up large cabin tent at our RV campsite (used for extra room, no one sleeping in it)?

When do we find out which campsite we have?

Are you allowed to have campfires?

Is there wireless internet available from campsites?

Is the food at Trails End as bad as many of the reviews are stating...:)

Thanks for your time,
Adrian.............................:cool1:

Are we allowed to set up large cabin tent at our RV campsite (used for extra room, no one sleeping in it)?You can set up a tent, but it should be set up on the crushed shell/gravel tent pad

When do we find out which campsite we have? When you check in

Are you allowed to have campfires?Only in a totally enclosed (screen sides & top) fire pit. even these can be prohibited at times due to fire conditions.

Is there wireless internet available from campsites? No

Is the food at Trails End as bad as many of the reviews are stating...:)No

Also, you can add a loop request to your reservation anytime if you wanted to be close to the pool, the marina, whatever. Look at the campground map and think it over. We personally always request loop 100 because we like to be near the marina so we can get the boat to the mk and the buses are all right there. We have always gotten loop 100 or 200 out of this request. But you would want another loop to be close to the pool. This way you can have an idea of what loop you probably will get.
Trails End has very good basic food, great fried chicken, ribs, salad, pizza, nachos to go.

Not all loops are pet loops. Be sure Ft. Wilderness notes that you need a pet loop. We always stay in a preferred pet loop (meaning we have electric/water/sewer/cable). Our favorites are 300 and 700 due to their proximity to the marina, Settlement Trading Post, and Trail's End (which we love by the way).:goodvibes

Happy Camping!

FW doesn’t have wireless internet but it is easy to do. Just bring your wireless router from home or go to one of the Mart store and buy one they cost about $50. If you are staying in a preferred loop you can rent the modem hook them up you are good to go.

If you are looking for high end buffet food then you won't like the trails end buffet. But you will like it if tasty, haearty food appeals to you and assisted by very nice cast members. We had breakfast every morning for 8 days last october, several dinners and lunches and one take out chickne dinner which was enough for the two of us for two days plus snacks. Again, it is not gourmet food but it sure did make us want to go back As a footnote to us, we do not go through fast food lanes, do almost all our meals at home even though we both work, so we just enjoy wholesome food. You can't beat the re-fillable mugs for soda, coffee or tea also.
