With all the interest on the boards about ABD tours, I thought it would be a good idea to see when everyone else is going.
My husband I are going on the Southwest Splendors tour leaving on May 26. :goodvibes I've never been to this area of the country so I'm really looking forward to it!

WDWSOS,
Did you book your air on your own, or through ABD?
Oops... nothing like taking a month to reply! Sorry!
I booked British Airways through AbD. I checked flights on my own and it was roughly $6.00 difference per ticket. Since AbD is booking published air, not bulk air, the prices are going to be the same and AbD can generally book anything you can find on your own. I wanted the assurance that if my flight was delayed, I'd still have the AbD pickup from the airport.
I'm still waiting to book the kids, and that's making me a little nervous. One is flying over from L.A. (the rest of us are in Boston) and he and my middle son don't know if they're going to do a bit of Europe on their own after the trip. The "baby" (19) is spending six weeks in Prague afterwards doing a film program with the University of Miami and will likely spend a week or two traveling afterwards. Hard to book air when I have no clue where they're flying home from, but I'd like them at least to be on the flight over with us to make things simple.
Anyway... long answer to say I booked with AbD, not on my own. :)

Dotti,
Thanks for the answer. ABD is coming in twice the cost I can book on my own. I'm looking at all options, and may just use some frequent flier miles.

To tiggr33: tip - if you find airfare cheaper on the net, write down flight's and particulars, cl ABD tell them what your have found and they will find the same and book it for you. Here is the reason I say this: last year we were on the Londom/Paris trip and after the terrorist threat in London EVERY AIRLINE IN EUROPE CANCELLED ALL FLIGHT 3 HRS OR LESS into London! We were in Fussen Germany at the time. We had to hire a private driver to bring us from Fussen to Munich, 200 euros plus at 5AM in the morning) then Conderflug Airlines to Brussels ( another 200 euros each), then the Eurostar to London,( about 180 euros each) just to GET there to join the tour. It ended up costing us about 600 euros each!!!!! Had we booked with ABD THEY would have absorbed the cost! Needless to say, I found my own air fare this year; cld ABD; they booked it and we are now on the Imperial Cities tour with ABD airfare at the same rate we could have booked elsewhere! Keep this in mind before booking airfares elsewhere!!!!!!

ppiew,
When you found the airfare, did ABD book it with the airline you found it with?
Will they only do this with certain airlines?
I would really like to fly Icelandair next year when I plan our trip, but was content with the fact that I would have to book it separately. We would like to go and stay for a few days before the tour as well as after and I was uncertain whether ABD would book this if it wasn't on the same start/stop dates of the tour.
Thank you for any input that you may have :)

I'm not sure if this will answer your question or not, but I'm doing the London/Paris trip and then doing the Med cruise in July. I was told by both ABD and DCL that I will have to book my own flights. I'm not sure if that is the same for just a few days or not?

Hi BzzeLady. I found my flights on Northwest Airlines as that is the ONLY airline that flies into my small town. I booked it thru ABD (they have a flight/travel dept. of some sort). I told them the info re: airline/flight #s/fares that I had found and they have booked it all. We are going to Croatia the week before our ABD trip and are staying in Bavaria a few days afterwards but that didn't present any problems. They said they could do the 'going' and 'coming back' travel, but not any internal flights in Europe. (we have to fly from Zagreb to Vienna to get the tour and they couldn't do that part). Hope that helps! Their rates were exactly the same as I had found on the web.

I'm thinking that they may have done it because it is the only airline serving your airport.
When the 2008 itineraries come out and I call to book, I will have to check with them and see what I can do.
Thank you and have a wonderful trip!!!

I know last year that Small World gave me 25 pounds and 50 Euros for my London/Paris tour. I don't know what they are offering this year though. This year I used DVC points, so no bonus for me.

You're with us in France! Did you get the last room? I think there was only one left last time I called to add one of my son's friends.
We did Imperial Cities this year and loved it!

If you get the early booking discount, you do not get it for AP.
You get one or the other, not both. Early booking is much better as it gives a better discount than the 10% for an AP.
