I packed a box full of Poptarts, Little Debbie Snack Cakes, Juice boxes, Pringles, Napkins, Paper Plates, Peanut Butter Crackers, Squirt Cheese, Triscuits, Otis Spukmeyer muffins, etc. and shipped it out UPS regular on Monday from work to ASMo. It arrived the same day we did on Wednesday. Total cost to ship? $ 4.10!!!
We ate breakfast in our room and had plenty of snacks when we had the munchies!
Saved us a bundle! ;)

I wish that would work with my family. What a savings! However, with all the choices of snacks in the parks, there is no way they would eat my bring along snacks:rolleyes:

I know what you mean, but if you Explain, that it's quicker to eat Br. in the room and to have after dinner snacks instead of desserts, and that it saves enough money for park snacks,I'll bet they will eat them. Especially if you bring their favorites!!
This isn't time to try new items though!!lol!!

Did the resort charge you a handling fee?? I think I heard somewhere that they did that. It's a great idea though if they don't charge.

We came back from MK and there was a phone message that I had a box waiting for me at the front desk. I showed my ID and they gave it to me, no questions asked! :D
Even if you just use this stuff for breakfast and late night snacks we have found it to be a $$ saver. Also, afternoon breaks - we are always looking for something to munch on. I usually bring with us the following:
Bagels
cereal
crackers
pringles
mix to make iced tea or lemonade along with a small container (1 quart)
paper bowls, plates, plastic utensils
Then we buy milk, oj, & cream cheese in the resort store. We are DVC owners so we always have a fridge in the room.

if there is a coffee maker in the room, bring instant oatmeal and cup-a-soups. My youngest likes when she has her "oatmeal" either morning noon or night!

I assume you run the water through the coffee maker to heat it up, but doesn't that give your oatmeal a coffee taste?

They are regularly $11.96 and wer on sale for $5.96! I got two boxes and put them away with the trip stuff. They don't weigh much and there is no way they will be that cheap in Florida when I go! :)

How about taking a Foreman grill?? We use ours a lot, and between the fridge and the Foreman grill I can see us saving a lot of money and using the food budget to do something special like Cinderella's breakfast instead of spending it on things we'd get at home anyways. Has anyone tried taking one of these? Do you see any problems in taking one?

I like to pack that kind of stuff in my bag for the way down... then at the end of the trip, you suddenly have all this extra room in your suitcase for souveniers.... I only pack things that will survive the baggage handling at the airport or put it in a carboard box inside my luggage.
If you are really looking to save $, try bringing powdered/instant milk for cereal. If you drink skim milk, this will taste fine.

It's been a while since you post and no one's answered.
I'm guessing you're not a coffee drinker? :)
If you don't use the brew chamber (basket), and as long as the pot is clean, you can make all of the hot water you want. Its generally not boiling hot (it shouldn't...coffee should be only close to boiling), but should be hot enough for instant foods.
Hope this helps,
Joe

Great idea to send food to your resort via UPS! A few questions:
- How many days in advance should you send it?
- Do you know where I can get the resort address?
Thanks a bunch!
I pre-pack baggies with measured amounts of Tang, to make a quart. We always take oatmeal, beef stew (individual services), microwaveable macaroni and cheese (in individual packets), microwave popcorn... filler comfort foods. We also make a grocery stop before we get in and get water bottles and sodas., that saves about $20 a day in drinks. We usually do eat a big breakfast or lunch, using various discounts (AP, Amex, DVC, DC) at the nice restaurants, since the lunchtime prices and crowds are less. Then we eat less expensive foods at dinnertime.

- It took two days to get from Atlanta to the resort sending UPS ground. Check www.ups.com
- Go www.wdwinfo.com and on the left hand side of screen under Resorts & Hotels click on Disney resorts.
Good luck! :D
