I wonder how the growing supply of resales will affect the BC offering.

Wow!! You sure are right about that!

I wonder what Disney thinks about this? Maybe they'll take this as a sign of some disatisfaction with loyal fans!

I think this has more to do with the bad economy then dissatisfaction. With the unemployment rate at it's highest in 6 years, I"m sure there are DVC members affected. I go back to work after 5 1/2 months on Monday. If my unemployment ran out we may have had to sell one of our contracts.

Eeyore2U....you took the words out of my mouth.

There may be some dissatisfied DVC owners but I'm thinking the economy may be forcing some people to look at their situation and DVC may all of a sudden be a "luxury" that they can't afford.

If someone was on the economic fence (so to speak), then maybe the recent cutbacks swayed the decision. But for the rest of us, I think this mostly represents an opportunity to pick up points at a pretty good price.

Great NEWS!!! As in real estate, "motivated" sellers could provide some great prices to prospective DVC members who otherwise would be unable to purchase.

Where are they listed besides Timeshare Store?

It is surprising there are so many, and the prices have definitely dropped. It's a good time to buy if you're in the market.

Personally I think it's mostly a financial issue rather than a disatisfaction issue. If someone was financing both the purchase (either thru Disney, or in other ways), and was paying dues monthly, that could add up to a small hunk of change. Get laid off and those monthly expenses can become monumental. My heart goes out to anyone in this situation because I'll bet that in many cases they don't really want to be selling.

To answer another question, two good sources for Disney resales are :

The Timeshare Store: http://www.dvc-resales.com/

A Timeshare Broker: http://www.atimeshare.com/

Wow! There is quite a list out there, since I have been browsing in the past year, I have never seen so many. (Always hoping for better park discounts).

Personally I think it's mostly a financial issue rather than a disatisfaction issue.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily term it dissatisfaction, but I don't think we can write it all off to economics, I think there is some reduced demand. People are may be less likely to travel, and it is possible that figures into some of the thinking of those selling their DVC points.

I also don't know the degree that WDW being such a prominent travel destination, concerns with air travel, and the current availability of many hotel discounts plays into it.

But there is a whole lot going on right now, and there is greater possibility or perception of risk in the investment that there was last year.....

So that may also be reflected in the BC point offerring......

Now our thinking here is that we will not be flying much for the next few years. So we are thinking of an add-on at HH. It is on the east coast and a lil closer than Florida. We plan to vacation from cape cod....jersey shore HH and WDW for the next few years so we are thinking maybe early next year to buy at HH. Disney or resale we arent sure as I am just starting to look at things.

So while some may start selling their DVC, others like myself may start buying. Truth be said I was never a comfortable flyer..... We have been to Europe been to Califorinia ( yes Disneyland!) , las Vegas. .... mexico Bermuda no more flying ( for now) .

of course I will weigh the risk of buying even more into WDW but I am an optimist it will turn around.

I think it's the economy also. DH is a professor so his main job is secure. He also consults, however, and we're keeping an eye on that. I have my own business, and that's gotten a bit slow. While things are fine, we are watching the budget more carefully than a year ago. We have a son in college, too, and that is a priority. So, while we are happy owners, if things took a bad turn our DVC would be something we would take a hard look at as an item that is not an absolute necessity.

I agree with everyone else that it is the economy. Since I haven't worked since June we also have talked about selling the timeshares. We decided to rent the points instead if things don't improve. That way we can hang on to the investment. We will make that decision later in the spring.

It is that people are losing interest in Disney as a whole (except for Monsters, Inc.). There is a loss of happy magic in the world which is what Disney sells itself on. I am saddened but it is the world we live in.

And the economy too.
