Just booked the Swan today for our 3rd annual girls only weekend.:wizard: I will need it after shopping for colleges and nursery schools at the same time. :scared1: Our youngest was lucky enough to go several times before she turned three I am really trying to hold off on another family trip until she is a little older but I don't know if I will be able to hold out until she is five.

I think Jersey Week is the first full week in November.

Yup- the NJ Teachers' Convention dates are Nov 8-9, and many NJ families take the whole week. So, lots of our NJ friends will be at WDW the week of 11/4- 11/11.

We went during Jersey Week in 2004- we had a lot of fun! Met lots of really nice families from NJ that week- everyone was so great! We'll miss them this fall- we will be there the week before- going Halloween week.

Are you *Lime Green Mickey Head*-ing your Door/Car/Balcony? LOL! It would be neat to see how many DISers are there when we are. ;) Did you reserve a condo or a house? Have you stayed there before? I'm FULL of questions! LOL! (Practically giddy that a DISer will be there the same time as me. I REALLY need to get a life! :lmao: )

Our annual family reunion trip is in November, we go Thanksgiving week each year, this year we'll be there from November 18th till November 25th. Staying in Ft. Wilderness in my parents 5th wheel of course!

It's my favorite trip of the year, my mom makes a full Thanksgiving spread, turkey, stuff, potatoes, bread, casseroles, pies, you name it, it fills up an entire picnic bench! She spends all day cooking on Thanksgiving day, just like if we were home!

We've been doing this trip for about 6-7 years now, and it's definitely become a tradition. This is also the only trip that our dog is allowed to come, and she loves going to Disney for a week! (She gets to say hi to all the bunny rabbits!!).

Last year (2006) was a cold one, the Tuesday night we were there was the night that it snowed in Central Florida, and the thermometer we had outside read 37 degrees at one point! Here's hoping to another cold one! :)

In 2005 Christmas decorations, holiday parades,Osborne lights started on the Sunday of the second weekend in November. In 2006 we arrived on Thursday, November 9th and decorations were up. Osborne lights were lit that Friday and the first MVMCP was held that Monday the 13th. This year I think that I read somewhere that the first MVMCP is Tuesday the 13th. Not sure about when all the hotels are decorated though if they were I didn't notice.
I was all excited for the rate I booked at the Swan for SSW but now it just occured to me if they offer bounce back again I would assume that you would have to be staying at a Disney Hotel to qualify?????????:confused3

You probably can't go wrong with the 12th(or the week after Thanksgiving as well). Jersey week is over. Decorations are up and the weather is spectacular. Last year on the 12th my oldest daughter and I had been on every ride and show in Magic Kingdom and we were done by 12:30 then headed to AK, Epcot and MGM for our favorites all in on day:yay: But, it was just she and I and we moved alot quicker. If you arrived on the 11th you could catch the last day of the Food and Wine Fest as well. One of these days when all of our schedules(High school sports are a killer) allow I am going to get my whole family there for the holiday decorations.

Have fun planning.:wizard:

Thankfully mine will only be in Kindergarten and 3rd grade this coming Nov.
I guess we had better enjoy the low crowds and being able to take them out of school while we can-LOL! Plus I think we'll enjoy ourselves more if I we travel when it's a little further away from Christmas, but at least we'll still be able to enjoy the decorations.

We will be there from 11/22-12/01 staying at BWV. This is our 1st trip in November--we usually go in September but were recommended to visit the week after Thanksgiving. I know Turkey week is usually crowded, but I heard the crowds drop considerably after Sunday--is this true? We are so used to walking onto everything in September, that I think having to wait in line for It's A Small World instead of riding it several times in a row might be confusing and hard to adjust to for my DD who is 3. Feedback and input is GREATLY appreciated from anyone who has gone after Thanksgiving before! Thanks--hope to see you all down there!

we wondering the same thing? I can't seem to find out what jersey week is and if that means large crowds? Maybe someone can help answer that for us.

"Jersey Week" is the week when lots of families from NJ come to WDW. They have an annual Teachers' Convention that is the same week as Election Day. The kids get off school for Election Day, and 2 days for the convention, leaving only 2 days they go to school that week. Some NJ school districts designate those 2 days as parent/teacher conference days, so the kids have no school that week.

This year, Election Day is Tuesday, 11/6, and the NJ Teachers Convention is Thur, 11/8 through Sat, 11/10. You'll see lots of NJ folks at WDW starting Sunday, 11/4 through Sun, 11/11. The busiest days of Jersey Week tend to be the latter half of the week into the weekend (this year, 11/8 to 11/11).

The crowds aren't awful, but it is more crowded than the rest of November normally is (except for T'giving, of course). Still much less crowded than Spring Break, summer, or holidays. As long as you have a plan, get to the parks at opening, use FPs, and don't mind meeting lots of nice folks from NJ, you should be fine.

We went during the busiest half of Jersey Week in 2004, and we still had an awesome time. Our longest waits were 40 mins for Kilimanjaro Safari at 1 pm on a Friday, and 40 mins for The Great Movie Ride at 11 am on Friday. Everything else was 20 mins or less (we used FPs for the really popular rides).

Thank you so much for explaining this to me. It doesn't sound so bad after all. Even though we will be there 11/3-12 right in the middle of it. Last 2 years we went during free dining and it got pretty crowded during end of our stay but still decent.

do they stay at certain resorts or just anywhere? we are staying at POP and didn't know if they tend to stay at value resort?

Well, it's not like everyone from NJ is in one tour group or anything;) - you'll find NJ folks at all the different WDW resorts, as well as wherever else people who come to WDW stay- timeshares, offsite resorts, motels, etc.

Dont' worry about it- or, as the NJ folks would say, "Fuggedaboudit!!"- you'll have a great time, wherever you stay. :cool1:

We just got back from an 8 day trip to Disney- stayed at Saratoga Springs, Boardwalk, and Beachclub. We are from Maine and this was our 3rd trip to Disney World in 12 months!! We are all booked and paid to go again on November 24th for 7 nights, staying at the Beachclub. My friends and co-workers think we are NUTS!!

I went with my parents 2 years ago during "Jersey Week" because even though I am from NH, we had almost the entire week off from school for Vetern's day and teacher workshops.

We arrived on a Tuesday and left on Saturday. When we first got there it wasn't too bad, but as the week went on it got a little bit more crowded than we had expected it to be. On Friday MK was insane and hardly got to do anything because the lines were extremely long! We did everything we wanted to at MGM and Epcot though.

Overall the crowds were not too bad except for MK at the end of the week, and the weather was really nice. I'd probably go again during this time, and am actually deciding a trip for this year between this week, or a week in Oct.

good to know. Thanks that will help us plan our week. soap weekend is at mgm that weekend so I want to avoid that if possible and it's also the end of F&W at Epcot so I'm not sure how busy it will be there.

My extended family was planning a big cruise get-together for this year, but a wedding in the family derailed the plans. Instead, I'm taking my immediate family to WDW... Poor us. I guess we'll just have to suffer through the MK, Wishes, Illuminations, DS, etc. We'll be there Jersey Week - as it seems the rest of NJ will - Nov. 3rd through 10th.

I just booked ours for Thanksgiving! We had planned to wait until June 2008, but I just can't stand it. I can't believe I convinced DH to do this! We will be there Nov. 21-24 at POP. Never stayed there before, but this needed to be a more economical trip. Now I'm left to decide about tickets. Big part of me wants to do the DDP since we really enjoyed this on our last trip. Other part of me is thinking I should just go ahead and get APs since we will be back next June. Decisions, decisions....

What is Thanksgiving week like as far as crowds? I've never been this time of year before.

We'll be there Nov 25-Dec 1! This is our first trip in 12 years! (the last was our honeymoon in '95) We are so excited to see how much our kids DS8 and DS5 will enjoy WDW! Our youngest will actually turn 6 years old the week we are there. We've booked an 8:05 ADR at CP :tigger: and a 4:30 dinner at LTT :goofy: that day, and we'll be ordering a POTC cake pirate: from Main St Bakery. During the rest of the week, we also have reservations for a character breakfast at O'hana :stitch: and lunch at noon at CRT princess: . We have Sci-Fi booked, because they would enjoy it-and dinner at LeCellier booked, because WE would enjoy it! I have ordered my MVMCP tickets :santa: already and plan to do a Candlelight Processional Dinner Package one night. Anxious to see the Osborne Christmas Lights too! I have learned so much on the Disboards! I feel like a Disney expert! (of course it also helps fuel my mad obsession!:upsidedow ) My husband rolls his eyes whenever I mention ANYTHING about our trip! He says "there is still 5 1/2 months to go!" I'm a planner, he's a slacker. Laughed at me for setting my alarm to make our ADR's! Am I nuts, or is it him?

you must be my Canadian Twin.:rotfl: if your nuts then I'm right there with you..:dance3: I'm nut much of an early riser myself so I also had to set my alarm to make my adr's.(actually i woke myself up b/c I was having a bad dream about not being able to make the adr's I wanted):lmao: and I must say we have very similar tastes in restuarants too. This time we picked a few new ones, and I'm really excited to try them. This time we are trying the Hoop-de-doo revue, chef's de france, Jiko's, 1900 park fare, and Mama melrose. my husband after our first trip a couple years ago is the one who suggested that we go back every year, but he's also the one who makes fun of my "dis boards". I don't let it bother me thought, b/c of my planning(obsessing) and reading the boards he benefits by having a wonderful time at WDW.:goodvibes

[QUOTE=MomofKatie;16860771]Yup- the NJ Teachers' Convention dates are Nov 8-9, and many NJ families take the whole week. So, lots of our NJ friends will be at WDW the week of 11/4- 11/11.

We went to WDW during NJ week last year, and are going back again this year! DS :cool1: and DD :cheer2: are so excited, it was a wonderful time to visit The World. Great temps, great LACK of awful crowds, just perfect :thumbsup2 There were a lot of Massachusetts people around too.

You will be leaving before the 1st MVMCP, but you might get to see some Xmas decorations. We went in early Nov. in 2005, and by our last day (the 5th), there were already quite a few holiday decorations up.

Definitely avoid MK on Saturday after Thanksgiving!! When we went, that's one of the days we went to MK. OMG...it was so crowded!!!!! I couldn't stand it. I've been spoiled by going to the parks when it is very slow with minimal to no waits for rides/attractions. I'll never do that again.

The first place I want to go when I get there is MK - I will have to resist the urge!!! Maybe MGM will be our first full day. I'm still figuring it all out. We may tack on an extra day's ticket and hit somewhere Friday evening too... not sure as we'll be driving all the way there that day. But since the difference between 4 and 5 days is miniscule we may just HAVE to do it!

Actually--neither. They are in MGM on the Streets of America I believe. I don't remember the exact day they start, but you might be able to see them towards the end of your trip. the best advice I could give is to drive to the parks everyday. The off site transportation does not make as many trips in the course of a day, they normally make stops at several hotels during a single trip, and if you miss the last bus you will be forced to take a cab. The wife and mother-in-law found that out the hard way about 10 years ago.

We will be at OKW on the 16th and leaving to go on the Wonder the 21st. Then back again after we get off the Wonder on the 25th and flying home on the 26th. I think I have most of my planning done other than I need to work out my transportation from OKW to the ship and possibly back. I have our tickets as well as tickets to MVMCP and two dining reservations so we will just eat in or catch as catch can for the rest of our meals. I have crowd concerns but will just go with the flow (just hope it is all flowing in the right direction!).

I just booked outside of the park (using our timeshare) and staying at West Gate Vacation Villas (new to us). This is our second trip (March '03- stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter) I am a little nervous about staying outside WDW, transportation issues and the like. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! It is my husband and I, and our two boys 10 & 12.

The only tip I have is don't rely on shuttle busses. It's hard to catch them and you have to follow their schedule...which usually isen't very convenient. We are staying offsite as well at the Orange Lake Country Club which is basically right across 192 from where you are staying and it's really not along drive as long as traffic isen't bad. (I've stayed at Westgate before)...I've never stayed onsite...when i was younger my parents had a timeshare so we always used that. This time I was really looking foward to staying onsite (DH and I were looking at the different hotels trying to decide which one to stay at)...when my dad offered up his condo for free  I knew that was the end of staying onsite this trip. I don't mind...i'll have just as much fun regardless...i'll just make DH pay for it the next trip (i'm thinking GF)!!!

My daughter was born in Doylestown. We were stationed their when the base was open. What a great area. I loved it there. We have family that live in SHamokin Pa and we just got back from there.

Count us in for November! We will be going November 6-11. Going are myself and my husband, our 9 yr old son, and our 1 yr old daughter. We are meeting up with my cousins who are coming from England! We are staying at the ASMusic this time. In the past we have stayed at the Wilderness lodge. This was kind of a last minute trip so we did not have it in the budget to go deluxe. But who cares? It is all about the parks and not where you stay! We hardly spend anytime in our room anyway!

We are at 36 days and counting and can't wait!!

Hope to see some of you there!
