What values would it be against?

Well actually it isn't really against any, if he goes to the point of racism then yes, that would be against values.

Martin Luther King, Jr was the opposite of a racist, was he not? So how could somebody emulating him be racist? I don't understand.

I don't think it goes against any values in the game, but I think doing a cheap mock-up of one of America's bravest civil-rights leaders on a day that we should be honoring him goes against many other values. This person may have had good intentions, but at least to me, he is really cheapening all that Martin Luther King Junior stood for.

I felt this way about all of the "Crocodile Hunter is Dead" rooms a few months ago when Steve Irwin passed, and I got my head bitten off on this board for saying so. I guess people do have good intentions and think they are being respectful, although they limitations of the game can make it seem not so, regardless of their intent. I can very clearly see how this person is trying to do a tribute, reminding people who are spending this day off playing a game of just who it is they have a day off for.

Ok in the post before this one, you make the statement that someone who is quoting a famous Man on a day he should be remembered somehow cheapens the whole thing, then just a few moments later you post a crass joke about it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Chances are someone asked.
I mean, he's a major icon of society! If people are as shallow as I think they are, they could be used to jump to fame! Even though it's not real!
Hey, wasn't PrinceRapheal on here a while ago? I remember someone with a similar name freak out at no one in particular back when the Pirates for Sparrow Suit game/thing came out, and got flamed for flaming everyone.
Just throwing this out there to -hopefully- prove I'm not that crazy.

I'm pretty sure she's implying you need to give her credit for it.
I was in a great room yesterday and the owner was in an HM suit and she was quoting the entire I have a dream speech (using the dictionary to work around words like "emancipation" and "discrimination" - it was really cool! Several people came in and out and listened to parts. There was a quest (unrelated to the holiday) so some people just ignored her. She did not talk to anyone personally, just kept doing the speech and it was really nice! You could listen or not, as you chose.

It's awesome to hear someone is recognizing such a historical figure in VMK! Hope they're doing it in good taste.

As long as he wasn't breaking VMK values, he didn't do anything wrong. Other thought of it as disrespect, but that is just their opinions.

Hmm... your right, that was rather hypocritical of me. I apologize. The joke wasn't meant to poke fun at MLKJ, but to poke fun at those who ignore VMK society and say, for example ask if staff or testers are taken... All they care about is being "taken" they just really don't care by who, as long as they have spiky hair or a nice outfit. Those are the people i was making fun of, not MLJK. I never meant to be hypocritical, it's just how other people took it. I'm sorry, i should have either not posted it at all or worded it better.

he must have wanted to be an impersonator  . sorry if you all took that as a mean joke, and i'm sorry if that made you all get mad at me :).
i just don't understand why people would be doing this on MLKJ Day. i mean, i was hoping very strongly that VMK would do something to honor this famous man. i guess people were taking it very seriously yesterday. :confused3
