I'm just curious.. I know that the royal plaza is at Downtown Disney.. but does it count for the extra disney hours, if you stay there? Iknow it does have guaranteed intrance to the park. Has anyone ever stayed there?

Unfortunately the only DTD resort at this time that participates in EMH is the Hilton.
We stayed there several years ago and thought it was pretty nice actually. I actually liked the accomodations and the rooms better than when we moved over to POR for the rest of our trip. The grounds at POR were nicer though and of course POR had the "WDW" perks like EMH, etc.

Just a FYI...you get guaranteed entrance to a theme park when you're a WDW resort guest. Not necessarily the park of your choice. There are various closing levels for all 4 theme parks, and it's true that one of them is 'closed to everyone except WDW resort guests'. But - if a park is crowded enough, no one gets in, not even resort guests, not even if you have an ADR.
The parks rarely close due to crowding, it occurs pretty much only on major holidays and occasionally during the week between Christmas and New Years. I just didn't want you to be disappointed, thinking that you could get into the MK if it closes on a holiday, just because you're staying at a DTD hotel.
Enjoy your trip! :)

I think they pay a fee for this.

As I understand it these features were offered to all the DTD. Only the Hilton is willing to pay what Disney wants.

I'm told only Hilton, Swan and Dolphin are able to offer EMH these days because the owner of those three hotels (Tishman Hotel Corp) had some kind of deal with Disney, which apparently Disney can't get out of. Other Downtown Disney hotel people have told me Disney isn't even offering this option to them anymore.
I don't know this for absolute certain -- just what I've been told.
