First thing to check is the destinations covered by you local airport :)

I've heard that Prague, Budapest and Vienna are all very nice :)

Athens! A few evenings dining in the Plaka with all the lovely Greek food and all the wonderful sights to see, including the Olympic Stadia and the Parthenon.

Or Rome - speaks for itself.

i went to Paris for my 40th & loved it. Iknow you said you'd been but I'd been twice previously & still had a great time.

We're going to Las Vegas next month for our silver wedding & staying just 5 nights. I can't wait

My dad went to Prague last year and had a great time. Wouldnt go on the weekend tho as there are loads of stag/hen parties.

Las Vegas is a good idea. :goodvibes

Hello,
As it is a special 40th celebration (Join the club:thumbsup2 ), how about somewhere special, ie Boston, with some very good shopping, eating, hotels etc.
Walk the freedom trail and visit many historical landmarks such as Bunker Hill, or a trip out to Plymouth and view the Mayflower.

Where ever you decide have a brill time:banana:

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas
but as you can see

There is a new Countdown in my name :yay: :yay: :yay:

We have decided to lenghten our holiday in Oct and Visit New York on the way back
So maybe a night or two away in a nice Hotel in Ireland for the big 40th sounds OK to me now
