I think I know the answer to this question but here goes.
To what resorts do DVC members get the 25% discount of rack rates when booking via CRO ? Is it only other deluxe resorts or all resorts ??

DVC Members can get a 25% member discount only at DVC resorts and only thru MS.
There are certainly discounts available at other resorts thru CRO - but nothing special for DVC members.
The member discount is not always available at DVC resorts either , but MS is the only option for that particular discount.
Good luck! :)

No. It's my understanding that the discount for DVC members would only apply to the DVC portion of the VWL--studio, 1br or 2br--not the main lodge rooms. The discount is also available at the other DVC resorts, but like the above poster said, this discount is not always available.
Can anyone else back this up?

As I already stated- the 25% Member discount is only available for DVC resorts and only thru MS. In addition, the discounted room is only for the member. If you want to reserve a room for mom on points, MS can certainly help you. If you want a discounted villa for yourself, MS can help you. If you wany a discounted room for mom - you'll need to try thru CRO , but the 25% DVC discount won't be available for that.

I've booked a few nights on cash and have never been able to get the 25% discount (not available).. any idea what the criteria is? Low season? Weekday? etc? Kinda disappointed, but not the end of the world!

I don't think MS stands on this rule all of the time though. We just returned from SSR and had two separate units booked with the 25% member discount. Neither room was occupied by members and I even stated that when I booked ( didn't want trouble when we checked in) and was told as long as a member makes the reservation it didn't matter.

Did you also have a room booked on points at the same time?

Subject to availability and there truly is no way to know when they will be available.

For the same week yes we did. We didn't make them at the same time though. We added the cash reservation a few months after. Does this make the difference then? That we also booked a room with points on the same reservation?

We just booked a weekend HHI trip and MS didn't have anything available and we had to go through CRO to book. Our best discount was using our AAA members and it saved us $40.00 each night. Last Dec we snagged the 25% discount at HHI, but we were there during the week nights and no weekends.
