Best time to go solo during value season?

Hi all,

I've been torturing myself over my dream solo trip, which I'm hoping to take in 2008. The problem is, I can't figure out when to go. I would love to go in the warm and wonderful month of May, but reality is starting to sink in that if I want to split my stay between my two choice resorts (poly and BC), I really, really should go during value season. The amount I would save would pay for my airfare!
It seems that value season, though, is during less than desireable times (well, duh). I don't want to go in the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas - I've been there then, and it's just too chilly. That's also my concern about going in January/February. I don't need to be sweltering, but I want to be able to go swimming without being uncomfortable.
I spent four months at WDW in college (worked at Epcot), years ago. I was there for the entire month of September, and it rained every single day. So that's my hesitation about going then.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks everyone! :thanks:

I went this year January 3rd though 9th. It was perfect. Not too busy...plus there are a lot of other solos during that time because of the marathon.

I have to agree that early May is a great time to go, but I've found the very end of Sept. to be a good time also - and it's value season!!! I usually book a few days before regular season starts, that way I lock in the value rates. Also at that time of year - the start of the F&W, MNSSHP, etc. plus sometimes Disney throws out the "free dining" for that time of year.

I usually book a few days before regular season starts, that way I lock in the value rates. I'd also agree with going sometime in Sept. I was down during Halloween week last year, and the weather was still in the upper 80's during the day. Plenty of people swimming and enjoying the sun. If that was late Oct, I figure there's good chance that Sept will be warm enough.

Sept is an excellent time to go! (you also get a chance at the free dinning) plus MNSSHP is being offered then.

May is fun - the flower & garden festavial not to mention Star Wars Weekend.

Dec is great - most of the time it is warm enough to swim. the christmas decorations, christmas shows, MVMCP, CP, etc. are all happenin'.

Thanks for the replies all! You've got me seriously considering September....:scratchin The thing is that when I went in May, it was so, so beautiful. NO rain. And in September....torrential downpours! :umbrella: But hey, as long as a I get one good afternoon at the pool, I'm sure I'll be OK ;)

I say the week after thanksgiving is the absolute BEST time to go. I have gone 2 years in a row and haven't waited more than 10 minutes for any ride. The Christmas decorations are up and very little rain.
