Need opinions on airports and traffic

We are planning a trip to Disneyland and San Diego in late June. We want to fly in to LAX and fly out of San Diego, but we have a 5% off coupon for AA if we fly in and out of the same airport. Would it be worth the few extra dollars off to battle traffic to get back to LAX from San Diego or to drive from San Diego to Anaheim on the first day? How far away is San Diego from Disneyland?

Depends on the difference. If you're talking $5-10 per ticket I wouldn't do it. If you're talking $50-100 per ticket (and you already had a rental car) I would do it in a heartbeat.

The drive to San Diego to LA is 1.5 hrs with no traffic. We got stuck in really bad traffic once and it took 5 hours.

Can you split the difference and fly in and out of SNA - John Wayne Airport or Long Beach? I think AA might fly in/out from these airports and they are both near DL and in between LA and SD.
