I'm considering going to DW by myself to celebrate my 38th birthday. :cool1:
How weird is it to stay by yourself at a Value Resort like Pop Century, with all of the kids and families? I don't have any children (for a number of distressing reasons), but I like them. How's the noise level at the value resorts?
Thanks!

how long will you actually be at the Pop? just to sleep? or will you hang out there too?
Last March I spent 2nights at the Pop before switching over to the VWL. I spent most of my time in the parks though.
This April I'll be at Pop 2nights before switching to the BCV.

i spent two nights solo at ASMu in Decemebr and di not feel weird at all. It was actually quite nice to have a little Disney Magic to a solo room - I even got towel animals!

I'm thinking about going to DW November 10 - 17th and stay at POP the whole time. I don't spend that much time at the resort, although I know that I'll want at least one day to just hang out and relax around the pool.

I've gone several times as a solo and stayed at ASMusic. I mostly stay at the parks all day so I am only at the hotel in the morning and evening. I've never had a problem with being there as a solo.

Most likely I'll be at Pop 11/9-11 before switching over to the VWL (or hopefully BCV)

I have never been to Disney solo, my mom and stay at the Movies and we have stayed in the Ducks building and last year we paid for a preffered room. We have never had an issue being near the pool or even hearing noises outside of our door. For one thing, after being in the parks all morning or in the evening, when we get back to our room, we are pretty much wiped out, so we never hear a thing.
It also might depend on how light or heavy a sleeper you are.

Stayed at POP for my first solo trip last year, it was fine. Even hung out by the pool and bar a little, people were very friendly.
If staying at Pop ask for a room facing away from the pools if you are a light sleeper. I was facing the Hippy Dippy pool last year and it was noisy until midnight every night. No one being bad, just families having fun and swimming. The pool is open until midnight and they play music all day also.
I'll be back at POP for my 2nd solo trip in March, wanted ASMU but it wasn't available.

I am heading back to Pop for my 9th solo stay. I adore this value resort! I always request top floor, parking lot view. Very quiet!

Another vote for Pop solo.. Stayed there in Sept 2005 and will be there in a few weeks ... No worries.. It's fun and plus if you spend most of your time in the parks then you won't be at the hotel all that much riiight?? I am using it as a home base.. I plan to be in the parks during the day and Jellyrolls till closing so I just need a bed to crash in and a shower!

I've stayed at ASMovies and ASMusic by myself - also CBR. I didn't feel weird during any of my stays. Planning to be at POP in May (most likely solo).
GO FOR IT!

All my trips to Disney--except 1998 DL and 1982 WDW--have been solo.
I have stayed at ASSp, ASMu and Pop solo. I have no problem with traveling alone, because if I waited for someone to go with me, I'd never go anywhere.

I actually took a taxi to my hotel from Jellyrolls. It wasn't too expensive. (of course, I can't remember exactly how much...because well.....I was at Jellyrolls!!!! LOL) Have fun!

Thanks everyone! I have no problems traveling by myself, in fact, I often prefer it! A couple of years ago i went on a cruise to Mexico by myself and had the best vacation I've ever had. I went to Disneyland by myself in December and it was wonderful. I thought that if I had that much fun at Disneyland by myself, than DisneyWorld could only be better!
Thanks for the info about Pop. As much as I'd love to stay at CSR, Pop fits better into my traveling solo budget.
Now..for some serious thinking and figuring out how to break it to my partner that I want to go to DW alone! :rotfl:

well when i was there in Sept we took a bus (and one night at Taxi to ASMU it was 8.70) -- the buses from DTD come to the BW and then we hopped on and said ASMu and the driver took us right there..

Went last Dec. 10th to 15th, and I stayed at Pop. Was great! I had a quiet room on the second floor. Easy to take the stairs. Lots of families there, but never felt odd or uncomfortable. I was very nervous about staying there for my first solo trip. Celebrated my 30th birthday. Budget required a value resort. I loved Pop. Took lots of pictures, and now my kids want to go. The bus service was so quick. Great food court. I was nervous about walking back to my room and night, but there were always people around, so never felt uncomfortable about that. I would definitely choose Pop again.
