I have listened to Weird Al's " Dont Download this Song" and am worried. I download MIDI files all the time, and i also go to Hoedownsite.com and listen to whoseline hoedowns. Is this illegal? I also watch music vids online but only youtube and Yahoo! .

Youtube is legal, but file sharing sites aren't. I still wouldn't suggest it, but there's almost no enformcment on in. People have tried, but failed.

I don't think so. Like shadow pirate said, it has been tried to be "illegalized", but nothing has been done to take precautions against this.

If you are a HUGE music fan I would use Rhapsody. It cost about 20 dollars a month and has tons and tons (and tons) of songs. It is one of the only perfectly legal music sites. I use it and its fantastic!

It is illegal to download songs but it is enforced just as much as it is enforced to walk on the sidewalk. You should be fine, as long as you don't tell appropriate authorities what you are doing lol.

Actually, file sharing in its self is perfectly legal. It's only copywrited items that cannot be shared freely.

Youtube and Yahoo! are perfectly legal sites.
Just watching or listening to things on the net is legal.

And as Idol_Fan has suggested, there are many sites out there that you can legally download from. Although most do make you pay for those privledges.
Just be careful of those because some only let you download to a certain program and you can never burn it or move it, or burn it without paying even more.

I don't see the big deal really. people can just tape music from the radio and own it that way. That's not illegal. :confused3
