Okay, my DS (11.5) is ADHD and OCD. We are getting stable on meds, but let's face it- meds don't make a "perfect" child. My son lives w/ my parernts by my choice and my parent deal with the school. The school he attends is the best academically in the area and luckily Jordan doesn't struggle w/ academics. The problem? My parents are having to fight the school almost tooth and nail to abide by the IEP. I wish I could anonamously notify the state agency.
He is getting to HATE school. They spent 6 weeks working on a narrative paper (from beginning, through drafts, and final copy) He wrote about WDW. The final draft had "Super Job, JAM" (his initals) So, we thought he must be on the right track although it was not what Mom or I really considered a narrative- more like an advertisement. Well, he got the final copy back with a 70 saying "This was not a narrative, but a travel brochure." Don''t you think this should have been cought in the rough drafts? Mom finally took action and he gets to re-do it.
I use to teach and I KNOW it is hard. But, IEP's are not just a peice of paper to take up space. My parents don't make enough "noise" in my opinion, but prpobably handle it better than I would. (I would be saying "I know the Law)
