courtesy hold with DVC for last minute ressies?

this is wishful thinking, completely unlikely, but figured i'd ask. (all this research i'm doing for renting may prove very useful if i start looking into buying)

it seems room availability on a last-minute basis (under 30 days till arrival) seems to fluctuate wildly during the course of 1 day. (maybe even by the minute!)

is there such a thing as putting a courtesy hold on a room for 24 hours (or until MS closes same day?). basically not committing your points yet, but putting a room on hold so you can discuss with someone whether they definitely want that room or not.
then call back the next day or later that night to really book it.

I've never heard of that being allowed. Usually once the points are used, they are used. So if you were to make a reservation like that and then cancel, the points would go in to holding.

Can you arrange to have this other person available when you are attempting to make the reservation, maybe by doing a 3 way call between them and MS?
