Anyone interested in walking as a sport should check out our walking site:

http://p206.************/bthewalkingsite This didn't work so just type the walking site and search, you will go right to it.

It's a good site with supportive people just like y'all. We have walkers from beginners to serious racewalkers and everything in between. Everyone is invited to check it out and join us there as well as here.

We post daily workouts we do and have sections for Injuries, gear reports and training reports. Even a general discussion section.

I'm walkingthedistance on there and Erica is Walking Gerbil.

I appreciate the site, Dave, as I kept looking at running sites, and really I'm a walker with running spurts. It helps to have a site geared more toward walking. I'm still exploring.

You will find lots of good advice and support on the walking site. Some of the walkers are woggers like you are.

You are welcome to post your workouts on the dailey section and join any of the discussions. Patty that runs the site is a personal trainer and great sourse of free advice about stuff.

Thanks for the info, Dave! I saw several race walkers at the marathon and it looks like something that I would like to try. I guess I'm more of a "wogger" at this point. I'd like to learn how to become more efficient in walking and running before I attempt the full next year. :thumbsup2

Hi Suzie. Yes there were some racewalkers there. I didn't know any of the others but another one of our walkers did do the half. Next year I hope we can do the Goofy and have weather somewhere between last years 30 degrees and this years 85 degrees.

Thanks for the tips on sites Dave..I joined a gym in my area that has a walking

That is a great start. You will progress faster than you would ever believe. Let me or any of the walking site folks know if you have any questions at all.

Having someone to walk with is a joy. Even when we both have our iPods playing the others presence is wonderful.

We did 10 miles yesterday in 2:11 and are planning another 10 miler today. We are doing back to back long walks all year to prepare for the Goofy next January. We have a half in 5 weeks to.

So glad you joined us.

I think everyone at WISH stayed in bed today. I should since I desterately need beauty sleep.

Sounds like the walking is going wonderfully. You could join us in January for a half or the full marathon.

We got married back when the Dinosours were still around. Glad you found you a partner. A training buddy really helps a bunch.

When you have a song in your heart and a smile on your face it's enough. When spring and summer come people will be coming out of hybernation and ready to get walking again. Till then we are here waiting with an encouraging cheer for anyone who needs it.

Good morning to you walkaway.:hippie:

Good morning Walkaway, that's great news that you have stayed with it. How far are you walking at a time now, have you measured your speed? You will be amazed at how quickly you will improve.

I wondered if you were still keeping up your fitness since I hadn't heard from you for a while. :yay:

Thanks for the info on "The Walking Site". I am a beginner walker, so I appreciate any tips and info that I find. My immediate goal is to prepare for Walkamerica on April 29 (5 miles) I've developed a training program that will hopefully prepare me for it. Thanks again! Denise
