View Full Version : Anyone else sailing 2/2/02??
Just looking to see if anyone else is sailing on the Magic at that time... it'll be me and my almost-6 year old DS, and we'd love to make some new friends. :)

I posted this same question yesterday and got no replies! Maybe we're the only ones on the ship? HA!
DH, DD (3 1/2) and I can hardly wait!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Now wouldn't that be nice!! LOL!!
DS is so excited about the Oceaneer's Club, I may never see him the entire cruise. Ah well, more frou-frou-umbrella-drink-time for Mommy. :D

Hi, Gina and everyone!! YES, we'll be there: DH and me (40-ish) with 3 teen girls and a 12 year old girl. I was waiting for someone to post for 2-2-2002 ... thought of posting myself but just didn't. Gina, you can be cruise director!! See you SOON!!
Hi Kendall!!! I'm so glad you're still hanging around here!! Sorry I haven't emailed in soooo long... time has just FLOWN lately!!
Hey, this is my first-ever cruise of any kind -- don't make *me* cruise director! We'll all be doomed!! LOL
Only 58 more days! And I just got the pre-booking excursion form from my TA in the mail today! Yay!!! :D :D

Are we going to wear the lime green ribbons?? Let's keep this post going so we can all "get onboard". I am starting to get excited, how about you all?? Just think, pretty soon it's Christmas holidays, then time to start packing!!! Are we ready???
Well, I still haven't had time to unpack from WDW Sunday, so maybe it would be easier if I just stayed packed! LOL!!
And yes, I will definitely have my green ribbons on!!
Okay, who else is sailing with us? Do we really have the ship to ourselves?? ;)

The cruise is going to be here before we know it!
How great that you already got your shore excursion booking form!! Not that it would do me any good yet...I still haven't made up my mind what I want to do. Kind of limited with a 3 1/2 year old too but that's OK.
Gina, I noticed that you're from Pearland, I used to live in Houston but moved to McKinney (just north of Dallas) 5 years ago. Wouldn't it be too cool if someday we could get a Disney cruise out of Galveston?;)

I got my excursion forms too, but not taking any of them. We're going to do St John on our own I think, and not sure yet about St Maarten day, probably go to Marigot to shop and then to a beach.
We were going to do the horseback riding but have heard too many horror stories.
A DCL person told me our official docs could arrive by the end of December unless you booked air with DCL, then the docs are sent later. That will be an exciting day, when the docs come!!!
I feel at home with all you Texans, my brother is in Houston (a poor Enron employee :( ) I too would like a cruise out of Galveston, could visit my brother and then cruise too!!
As far as excursions go, I swore I wasn't going to do any. But I've never been anyplace like the Caribbean, and I'd love to at least get some good pictures, so I was thinking of the St. Thomas island tour. It's only 2 1/2 hrs, inexpensive, and involves no physical activity. ;) I think I'll just stay on the ship at St. Maarten, maybe venturing just off far enough to say I was on the island. I tried to call the number on the form to at least reserve a float for DS at Castaway Cay, but couldn't hold that long at work. I'll try again tomorrow.
Wow, wouldn't that be awesome if DCL sailed out of Galveston??? We have Royal Caribbean now... had NCL from the Port of Houston, but not anymore. Man, it's only 25 minutes from my front porch to standing on the seawall in Galveston -- I'd go broke sailing on DCL all the time!! LOL!!
Kendall, I didn't know your brotherworked for Enron! So did my cousin. :( It's so sad around here -- it's all the news is about.
Ssclbc -- where in Houston did you live? I grew up in SW Houston, in Walnut Bend (Westheimer/Beltway 8 area.) Went to St. Thomas Episcopal School in Meyerland. I just moved to Pearland in May, because it has been a dream of mine to live here. Just ask Kendall how excited I was about buying this silly house! LOL
Kenspen -- Our kids will be in the Oceaneer's Club together! What's your daughter's name? I'm going to tell Tyler Dean (DS) about her.
Hey, we all need to exchange pics so that we know who we're looking for on the ship! Whaddya think??
Oooo, I have to share my cruise-related milestone of the day: I got my little boy's suit for formal night! For $7!!!! Won it on eBay. :D I've been looking for months. It's so adorable!! Dark blue, jacket, vest, slacks, and even a white shirt, all in absolutely pristine condition. I'm THRILLED. I love eBay!!! Got my own dress for formal night there, all beaded and everything, for $16. Now I just need to eat NOTHING in between now and February so that I might still fit into it by then!!

Hi All! We are a party of 12, 6 adults 6 kids. It looks like some of us will have children the same age:) We have a 31/2yr.old boy and girl, a 4yr old boy, 2 almost 6yr. old's, 1 boy and 1 girl and an 8 yr old girl. I think the 8 yr. old is going to be in the group with the 5-7 yr. olds so she can be with the olther 2 children. I'm going to have to get my TA on the ball, I haven't received any excursion information yet! Just booked my car through Avis yesturday. It was alot cheaper than going with a limo service. We are flying down on Friday and staying at the Econolodge in Cocoa Beach. Anyone else going a day ahead? Coming from the Midwest you never know what the weather will be like so we felt much safer doing it this way. We booked our air ourselves so I'll be looking for those documents come the end of December. I also thought about horseback riding but changed my mind after reading about some very bad expirences. Now I'm thinking of Parasailing, I've heard you can do it for a reasonable fee at Coral World on St. Thomas. I think our kids are going to love the kids clubs! I'm looking forward to a few "stollen moments" at the adult pool and an hour long massage. We have been planning this since last January, I can't believe we're almost there!!:D :D

So cool to find others on-board!!
We're flying in the day before too, staying at the Doubletree in Cocoa Beach. I always try to get to the port the day before, had a REALLY close call once...almost missed the ship in Athens, arrived with no luggage.
Gina, I can't believe you used to live in Walnut Bend...my husband lived there for several years before we got married and moved in close to the Medical Center. He was on Overbrook from about 1989-93. I lived in Houston from 91-96 while I did my residency at Baylor College of Medicine. I really miss it sometimes, especially all the great restaurants. That reminds me...gotta get those Palo ressies!
Good to hear that there will be others my DD's age (3 1/2) on board. She's a little bummed that Pooh is not often on the ship, but excited to go all the same.
I was thinking about the Sea&See trip on St. Maartin. Anyone have experience with that? We've been to both St. Thomas and St. Maartin numerous times (I'm a cruise addict) but never ventured beyond the town in St. Maartin. We rented a car in St. Thomas once...it was great! Actually I enjoy staying on the ship in port sometimes, it's much more quiet and less crowded.
Exchanging pics sounds good to me, but I'm kind of a computer dunce so I'm not sure how to do it.
Can't wait!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I can't believe it either!! We're flying down the night before, too --got the Amerisuites by the airport for $25 through Priceline. I had already gotten the DCL transfers, since it was the cheapest option for the 2 of us, plus I think it'll be lots of fun. Coming from Houston, I'm not worried about the weather, but after all the many MANY problems just getting to and from WDW this past weekend, I am now definitely glad I'm going the night before!!
I am also sooooo looking forward to some "stolen moments" at the adult pool, and even some spa time if I can swing the $$. I adore my son, but he is with me 24/7... I'm not even going to know what to do with myself, with time to myself!! LOL!!

That is so bizarre!! We lived on Cranbrook from '66 until around '87. What a trip!! Baylor Coll. of Med. is a great school. I wouldn't know about the restaurants, because I'm happiest at McDonald's. You will not be seeing me at Palo, that's for sure! :D

We're leaving a day early too, staying at the Radisson. Really splurging on this trip I must say, because we've not traveled much as a family all these years (I took my girls to WDW one year) but DH never liked to travel til we took a DCL cruise a year ago last August (he was hooked!!). So we figured we'll take a GREAT VACATION once before the kids are grown.
Gina, don't miss Palo!! It is such a highlight. At least maybe think about doing the brunch or something. We only had the Palo dinner before (was the 3 day cruise) and it was so wonderful. Come along with us for the brunch and we'll get squiffy on champagne!!
And don't worry about getting a floatie at CC. I don't think they run out of those too often. Hope I'm not wrong though, but when we went before there were plenty of floats.
Just got bad news today (on top of needing a new/used car as one of our cars is fizzing out). Our airline is cancelling flights, so need to find new air transporation!!! I am not panicked (yet)since we still have some time left, but ..... we'll get there if I have to drive, or walk!!!
That stinks about your airline!!! What are you going to do??
I hadn't thought about brunch at Palo... hmmm... "squiffy," eh? ;) I think that will be my new word for the week. ;) Do you have any idea when you're going to do the brunch? Would it really be okay if I tagged along?
I went ahead and reserved the float, since it was just so easy to call and do it. Then theyjust charge it to the stateroom at the end of the cruise. Works for me! I also reserved the St. Thomas Island tour -- it sounds just about right for what I wanted to see and how long I wanted to be off the ship.
Okay, so which one of you 2/2-ers is also bringing their pins?? :D

Gina,
Glad to hear you're coming in the day before. I know the weather is not usually a big deal, but my sister got stuck once in Houston (due to thunderstorms in the winter) the day before her wedding which was to take place on a cruise ship sailing out of Florida. (seems like my whole family is cruise addicted, doesn't it?).
Oh, please go to Palo at least once....If you don't want to go alone, maybe we can all get together for brunch or tea... a group brunch? Group Tea?(at least the girls!!)
Northsouth,
So sorry to hear about your flights! I assume you're on SunCountry. I've used them so many times out of DFW to Cancun, they're great ( if they're flying).
Oh, I'm getting more excited all the time....now I've found some friends on the DIS boards!

I have a mighty strong feeling that I am going to be in that addicted category very soon. :) And yeah, we do get some humdinger thunderstorms in the winter -- have some fixing to pop tonight, in fact. But the weather was nice and clear this past weekend -- it was the plane breaking, the flight crew not showing up, my suitcase getting lost, that messed us up so much last weekend. What a nightmare!! I hope February is better. The airlines don't have my vote of confidence right now.

I think it would be fun to do a DIS brunch at Palo, if they'll let us all have ressies together, that's probably the only catch. I'm hoping our cruise won't be totally packed like some are, and maybe we'll luck out on the ressies and the crowds. Gina, I knew you'd like that word squiffy!! It sounds just like a "champagne word" doesn't it?? and yes, please join us, we should have a brunch meet if they'll let us, if not, Gina, you just come along with us. I vote for Monday, but Sunday is OK too. I've just heard don't do the brunch on Thursday coz it's seafood night and then you have seafood twice. Does anyone know the hours for the brunch (11am-2pm maybe??) the time of day doesn't matter too much to me, but for those of you with kids in Oceaneers it might matter.
Yes, I'm on Suncountry, or should I say not on suncountry. I don't know what to do, rebook on my own, or wait for suncountry to do something for me (like never, can't even reach them). just clueless, I'll have to keep listening to the news, at least being in Minnesota it's all over the news.
I have some dizpins but not a lot. I'm not really a trader, just have bought a few that I liked (like Starlight Mickey on Ebay) and I have my castaway club pins from last time. Not too much. Got a couple from the Disney Store like Cinderella and a Mickey and Minnie 1933 or something, I love art deco type stuff. They're in their formalwear and it's a black and white pin. I love it. Oh, and I have a Captain Hans from Ebay that I liked. And I like Tinkerbell and Disney princesses. Just a few odds and ends. What do serious pin traders look for??

Do you really think the cruise at that time will be packed?? Yuck, I hope not. I'm hoping that most people will have some sort of issue with pulling their children out of school, unlike us. ;)
Ewwww, seafood?? Unless it's in the shape of a stick and came in a box that said "Mrs. Paul's" on it, I'm not touching it. ;) I'm telling you, you'll be able to find me at Pluto's Hot Dog Hut, getting my daily dose of chicken fingers. :D
Squiffy! Squiffy squiffy squiffy!! I just like saying it. :)

Honestly, I'm more of a collector than a trader, too. I don't keep up with the value of certain pins so much -- I just collect what I like. I do know that the CM's at WDW this past weekend really liked the Disney Store pins I had, because they don't have those at the parks. I made a few trades with those. Really, more than anything, I love to just see all the different pins people have at trading sessions... there are just so many!!

Northsouth~ We almost booked with Sun Country, but ended up with Continental. I wanted to kick myself a few weeks ago when Sun Country was selling flights for $69.00 per person. Now of course I'm happy paying $220.00.
I hit up cheappins.com for the kids, got about 20 pins apiece to trade. Pretty reasonable and I think the kids will have fun. I just need to pick up Lanyards at the Disney Store.
Right now I am busy planning what to over pack on;). I swear I'm going to need to take at least 5 pairs of shoes!! I don't know how to get around it. All my outfits for dinner require differant colored/style shoes!!
I can't wait to do brunch at Palo's! I'm not into straight champange, I need to throw a little orange juice in it ! It would be nice to meet for brunch but, I don't know if Palo can accomodate a large group. Gina, you should defiantly join Northsouth. Maybe the rest of us can do some kind of Dis meet like some of the other groups did.
I'm still in awe of how fast this year went by, can't believe we've made our final payment and are less than 60 days away!!

"Outfits for dinner????" I need special "outfits" just for regular dinner?? AAAhhhhh!!! I thought that only the "special" outfit I needed was for the semi-formal night, which I have my little cocktail dress for. Other than that, my wardrobe is not very fancy!
Help, please clue in this clueless first-timer...

Don't stress, Gina...I am bringing my one formal to wear both formal nights and to Palo(I had bought a couple but the other won't fit unless I lose 20 lbs, I was hopeful when buying it!!). I have a tropical dress that I think is too short but I'll bring it anyway. And I'm bringing a couple of skirts that are not too fancy.
That's pretty much it, and I bought some dressy heels on clearance but I NEVER wear heels so I am worried about walking in them, especiallly if I have a drink LOL. I think it is OK to wear dressy pants too, just no shorts or jeans they say, at dinner. I would think khaki type pants are OK most nights, and one formal should be plenty. I am going to check the after Christmas sales too just in case I can get a second dress for cheap (telling my secrets but I don't care LOL). I never get to wear dresses in my job so I am actually looking forward to dressing up though.
I am really stressing about getting my flights now. the best one I found leaves Orlando at 1045 am on Feb 9...don't know if that is too early. We were going to get a Tiffany Towncar to leave the port that day. I will have to do a search and see what others think about how early we can get to the airport. anyone know??

Kendall, our flight leaves at 10:45 too. It was the only flight available with my miles, way back when I booked it a year ago. I asked about the time thing too on here, and lots of people freaked out and scared me. ;) But they were the people who were on some cruise were someone had a medical emergency, and some other problem, and they got back to port late. From what I can gather, the normally gets back by about 8 or so, and we should have plenty of time to catch our flights. If we're one one of the rare delayed cruises, then I'll just deal with it at the airport. I refuse to worry about one more thing. :)
Thanks for the clothes info! I'll have to dig in my closet and see what I have. :)

Well, how is everyone today?? Did anyone else get a flu shot this year?? I did just in case, don't want to ruin my vacation with flu. Otherwise I don't get sick much, but not taking any chances this year!! I'm also bringing Bonine for seasickness but while I am not prone to it, I am a real girl scout when it comes to preparedness. I had bought Seabands for the previous cruise but never needed them, we had very calm seas.
Still scanning new airfares, I am going to book something today I hope. I don't have enough confidence in SunCountry right now to count on them to rebook me, I'll just take a refund if I can get one out of them. May be weeks/months in coming though, I'll just think of it like a tax refund. Found out my neighbor is going to Las Vegas next week on SunCountry, they rebooked her on another airline but so far she has no return flight!! She had gone through a travel agent so they are taking care of things for her.
Looks like we MAY have to return on Sunday though, I just don't feel easy about that 1045am flight (sorry Gina) but still not sure yet. I'll keep you posted.

Hey, believe me, the 10:45 flight wasn't my choice! But it was either that or no cruise, since that was the only time I could go, so I'm more than willing to chance it. Besides, it *can't* be any worse than all the huge problems we had just trying to get to and from Orlando last weekend!! If our Feb. cruise is one of those once-in-a-blue-moon delayed ones, I'll deal with it then. I refuse to stress about it. :) I would have just come back Sunday, but that leaves too little time for us to recuperate before work/school.
I'm just ready to go on the cruise!! I don't care what happens after it at this point. :D

I got my flu shot too. Always better to be safe than sorry. Plus I work in a hospital, so it's really a good idea for me. I can't agree more with bringing remedies for whatever you might think could make you feel bad. Trying to find cough medicine in an island store is not easy and very expensive (I know this from experience!) I've put together a basic list over many trips...if anyone wants it I can e-mail it to you.
Don't stress about clothes!! When you hear advice which says something like "take out what you think you need for your trip, then put half of it away", believe it!! If you are looking for a special outfit for formal/semiformal night, wait until after Jan 1, I found some real deals last year (like up to 75% off!).
Well, if we can't get a group Palo thing together...how about meeting someplace else? Is everyone first or second seating? We're second right now, waitlisted for first.
My DD and I must have watched Mickey's Magical Christmas 10 times this past weekend. When she saw Santa yesterday and he asked what she wanted she told him a Disney castle. (luckily it's been ordered from the Disney catalogue and is sitting in my closet waiting to be wrapped.)
Any of you have experience with getting gift baskets delivered to the staterooms? I'm thinking about it...

12-10-2001, 06:52 PM
Oh, Gina, I hope my comment about the 1045 am flight didn't bother you :):):)!!! you have Disney Transportation too, don't you?? that will probably make things easier for you...I was just thinking how I have 4 semi-lazy kids to get perking that last morning, and all the luggage, and we're "transporting" on our own, was going to get Tiffany for that morning so they could whisk us off to MCO but now we're returning on Sunday anyway. Got my airfare and hotel all squared away, Hakuna Matata!!! Priceline Rules (for hotel anyway!!) :D
ssclbc, we are second seating too (my preference but then my kids are older too). I think a lot of DIS'ers try to meet at the sailaway party at 5pm Saturday, or who else is planning to get to the port fairly early?? I definitely am, and got my lime green (more like spring green) ribbon to wear. On our 3 day cruise we were there by 11am on a land and sea package, so didn't have to check in, just waited to board. Around 1230 they let us on the ship and we went to Parrot Cay buffet, then we were ahead of the crowds all day. As we finished lunch, hordes of people were arriving to eat, and we were ready to go book Palo then. That didn't take long, then we got DD registered for Oceaneers, then we went out to the pools and sat around and relaxed, it was great and not crowded. Somewhere in there we went to our room and our luggage did arrive at some point.
This time I'm going to the buffet on Deck 9 if I can, they filled up Parrot Cay first, then the overflow went to Deck 9 buffet. I hope they still do it this way, anyone know???
Then at 4pm I think was the lifeboat drill, then back to the room and then the sailaway party. Anyway, it's all coming back to me....can't wait!!!
so anyway, maybe at the sailaway party we could meet on Deck 10 as Deck 9 gets pretty crowded I think. Maybe over near the ESPN lounge or something. What do you think??
I am practicing that packing light idea. Went to Tennessee to see my dad and just took a carryon for a weekend trip. Used to be I would take a suitcase but didn't want to check luggage on a 3 day trip. It was good practice for me.....worked out fine.
I think meeting on deck 10 is a great idea! I don't like crowds pressing around me, so I was planning on being on deck 10 for the sailaway party anyway.
We have second seating, too -- After looking at the kids' Navigators and realizing that TD would have to choose between the shows and the Oceaneer's Club activities most of the time, I opted for 2nd seating. He's a night-owl anyway, and we usually eat later, and I don't like to rush to get ready for dinner so early. I think it'll work out best for us. I did request a large table, though, so that I might be forced to actually open my mouth and speak to someone -- not something I'm good at anymore. :)
Kendall -- Yay that you got everything worked out!! I know it was stressing you. All I can do is hope and pray that everything goes smoothly, and the shipis not delayed. And if it is, then I hope it's delayed to the extent that my travel insurance kicks in. ;)
I just had one more clothes-related stress relieved -- I won the auction on a pair of silver flats I needed to go with my dress for formal night. They're perfect, and for $6, I am thrilled. Have I mentioned yet today how much I love eBay??? :D
But there are still so many little things I need, that I never think about for a WDW trip... the more I work on my packing list, the more I think of!
Is anyone else bringing drinks aboard? I can't imagine a week with no Dr. Pepper... I thought I'd just bring a six-pack, so that I won't be tempted to spend all that $$ on soft drinks on the ship. I want to save the $$ for the Bahama Mama's. :D
Oh, if y'all want to, you can see pics of myself and my little guy at http://DreamingOfWDW.homestead.com. Then you'll at least know what we look like, and you can come up and say hi if you see us! :) Besides, it would help if we're going to meet at the sailaway party if *someone* knows what someone else looks like. :D Ok, y'alls turn to share!! :)

Hey Gina~ Not packing fancy for every meal, some outfits I will wear brown sandles, some white, formal wear I will need heels, Island wear I might want tennis shoes ect. I am not a fancy person I probably own 6 pairs of shoes tops! I did get the flu shot this year. I've been getting it for the last 3 years and this is the first year I actually got it! ;) The cruise really motivated me. The only medicine I'm concerned about getting is a prescription for antibiotics(ds is prone to ear infections) I hope my Doc. will give me one just incase. I will stock up on all the over the counter meds. I'm up for meeting during the sailaway, just tell me where to get the ribbon and I'll be there. We are at first seating for dinner, we prefer second seating but from what I've read there is alot of action in the kids clubs during second seating so we will rush to first. Northsouth I hope your flight schedule works out. Gina if you have Disney air and transfers I would imagine you will be one of the first people off the ship, I wouldn't worry. We will definatly be at port early, I want to get on the ship as soon as they let me! I'll have my swimsuits in my carry on bag and will be ready to hit the pool! BTW do they have a changing area by the pool incase we can't get to our room right away? What's the weather like in Florida in Feb.?
SuperDisneyDad --
Welcome to the party!! :D Glad to have another DIS-er sailing with all of us!
luvmy2boyz --
I have Disney transfers, but not Disney air. I'm using NW miles, that's why I had limited flight choices, even a year ago when I booked. Sometimes using miles is more hassle than it's worth, but the price is right. Oh, and you stated much more clearly what I was trying to say about second seating. Sheesh, I allow myself one beer tonight, and I can't even type right! ;) Since I didn't want my little boy to miss the shows or the club activities, I opted for second seating. I'll just feed him first and send him to the club, and eat dinner by myself. If it's an activity he doesn't really care about, then he'll eat with me. I just figured dinner was most-missable for him out of the three. Did *that* make sense?? LOL
I'm hoping to get to the port early, too. Do I understand correctly that the DCL buses run pretty continuously from the airport? What would be a good time to catch the bus there to get to the port?

I'm planning on getting to the port early too. I've heard they open it up around 10:30? When can you get into your cabin? I'd like to be able to change into swimsuits to check out the pools early.
I think deck 10 for the sailaway sounds great. So I need a lime green ribbon? OK, I'll start looking...
Believe me you can pack light if you try. I took a 10 day cruise vacation two years ago with only two carry-ons. I have a major fear of airlines losing my luggage. I guess now that carry-ons are more limited I'll have to check some now.
I was planning on stocking up on some beverages at Publix the day before to bring on-board. My DH and I like to enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony before dinner. Anyone have experience bringing stuff on? From other threads on this board it sounds pretty easy...
How many days now??

We will be joining you guys . . .myself, husband, and dd - 6yrs old.
This is our 2nd cruise on the Magic, and we can't wait!! I am so glad to see that my daughter will have others her age to play with. Let me know if you guys definitely set up a DIS meet.

Welcome to our little party, and welcome to the DIS!! I can't believe how many of us will have kids the same ages there. How cool!!
I think a DIS meet on deck 10 for the sailaway party is a terrific idea. And maybe we can all commandeer a hot tub one night or something. :)

My "lime green" ribbon I just bought at Walmart, it's like a curly frou frou (Gina's word) ribbon for a gift package, unmissable really, but I know none of my cool teens will wear one and DH certainly won't, so I wanted to stand out. I was afraid if I wore a teensy little ribbon no one would see it. It cost 99 cents!! And I'm only wearing it til the 5pm Sailaway Party (unless I have a couple of drinks and decide my ribbon is so SPECIAL LOL) so see you all on Deck 10 near the ESPN lounge area, hope that is a good spot because it's the only Deck 10 landmark I know.
Welcome, snwwhite and SuperDisneyDad, see you there I hope!!

I have a fear of checking luggage too, last January I lost a bag on a trip to Houston, actually I think it was stolen as it never did show up, what a pain!! With 6 of us travelling this time, I know we will have to check luggage, hoping for the best this time. But I am definitely taking a carryon with all my essentials in it.
On our previous cruise we brought a 12 pack of orange soda and a 6 pack of dark beer (since DCL didn't have my Amber Bock beer) and it was no problem. This time we plan to bring much the same, maybe more soda for the kids this time.
I don't anticipate a problem. Hope I'm right.
Also do bring your swimsuits in a carryon...we got into our stateroom around 130pm last time, met our very nice room steward who was still working on our room, and think our luggage arrived around 3pm but no problem, we all had our swimsuits in carryon, so really didn't need our luggage til dinnertime.
I think they still open the port around 1030am, I hope to be there by 11am.

ROFL!!! Nice to know we're expanding each other's vocabulary, Kendall!! I've been using "squiffy" like I'm a Smurf -- I use it as noun, verb, interjection, you name it. ;)
Hey, after a few squiffy drinks, we'll ALL think your ribbon is special... I think you should leave it on. :)
That brings another question -- do people ever wear their GoH badges onboard??

Gina, you're great!! don't go to a lot of trouble though, traveling is tough enough as it is. This guy at work told me about some good English dark beer, forgot the name, starts with a B I think. not Ballentine but something....never got around to trying it though. I'll have to call and ask him the name again, he works at another office now....(thinking hard, this is gonna bug me til I think of it)...
....sslbc, started thinking about the swimsuit thing for embarkation day, hope the Florida weather is warm then, possibly it could be chilly now that I think of it....but ohwell, not a worry of mine really, just being a girl scout...

The Guest of Honor badges that you can get at a couple of places at WDW. They look a lot like CM badges and have your name on them. They're fun because CM's usually will call you by name, and other guests wonder who the heck you are -- like you're some celebrity they should know. :) My little boy loves it when they call him by name. :)

bump....I saw a post where a person sailing Jan 20 got their docs already!! Maybe ours will arrive around Christmas week or New Years!!
It really will seem real when we get our docs!!
How is everyone today...busy I guess, I have been busy too but just checking in for a moment....Hello All.....
Wouldn't that be an awesome Christmas present?? I just hate that I'm at work all day -- I'd be so excited to see the Fedex man come to my door!! He'd think I was nuts, I'm sure, as I jumped up and down like he was with the Prize Patrol or something. :D
I have gotten downright anal with my packing list... it's all color-cooridinated and categorized and stuff. ;) But it's just so different from my normal packing list -- and after Delta lost my suitcase for 2 days at the start of our WDW trip a couple of weeks ago, I have totally rethought what I pack where. We usually just bring a rolling pilot case and my old Magic Kingdom Club portfolio, but I think I'm going to buy another pilot case. I need to go back and read the posts from people who brought drinks with them -- I can't figure out where or how to pack them!!
We're at the big 5-0 today in the countdown... :D Who's getting excited???? :D

Allright...50 and counting!!
It would be way too cool to get docs by Christmas. Then again I'm just hoping to have my bathroom remodeling (which was started 9 weeks ago and only supposed to last 5-6 weeks, ROFL!!) done by Christmas!
I agree that people may stare at us in the hot tub...especially if we still have our ribbons on!
Although I've lived in Texas for 10 years I still can't quite consider myself a Texan. Not sure what I am...I've lived in Michigan, Kentucky, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona...I guess I'm a mutt.

ssclbc, I guess I'm a mutt too. Grew up in Tennessee, been in Minnesota for almost 20 years, not sure where I'm really from anymore.
Gina, were you going to buy "supplies" in Orlando or Cocoa Beach? Last time we just brought our 12 pack of soda "as is" and they just whisked it away with our luggage at the port, no problem. I am bringing a collapsible duffle just for bringing onboard some wine and beer, and the soda I'll just offload a case of it for the kids. Also I'm bringing bubble wrap and plan to get some guavaberry liqueur at St Maarten. It sounds interesting.
I think I read some people just bring their drinks in taped up boxes and it works that way too.
also I read you can buy soda and stuff at St Maarten too I think.
No, I won't be able to buy any soft drinks right before we board since I won't have a car. I'll probably have room in the whopping two carry-ons we're allowed between my son and I for just a 6-pack of Dr. Pepper, but I can't figure out where I could put beer. I can't check it, can I??? Even if I could, my suitcase is soft-sided and I wouldn't trust it to keep stuff like that safe. I may have to leave the beer behind. :( :(

Happy Monday!
A question....why lime green ribbons? (not complaining, just curious)
The guavaberry liquor in St. Maarten is interesting. Kind of sweet, but worth checking out. The store where they make and sell it will let you try before you buy (at least they used to) and they also have some other varieties.
I might try to smuggle a few Shiners to Florida, depends on how full the suitcase gets. You can't get it in Florida? A shame!
Lime-green ribbons are the official DIS-designator. :) I always have lime-green ribbon all over my luggage, and on my pin lanyard, and with my Guest-of-Honor badge. But since I don't guess I'll be wearing the lanyard and the GoH badge all the time, I'm going to have to figure out something else. I guess I'll tie it to the tote bag I plan on carrying around with all the essentials.
I'll bring the ZiegenBock if you'll bring the Shiner! Of course, then we're going to have all these other people wanting to move to Texas after they taste it... ;) Stupid question, though: Do you pack it or carry it on?? I've never brought alcohol on a trip, and I have no idea of the rules.
How many more days is it?? My countdown clock is on the 'puter at home...

I guess you could either carry it on or pack it. With the new increased security, it might not be the greatest idea to try to carry it...I've heard of some people not being able to bring glass onto the plane. I brought a bottle of Kahula back from Mexico last month and had no problem but you never know. Besides, the security people may want to confiscate it once they see what it is;) .
I think I'll pack mine, not sure exactly how but I do know I'll put a ziplock over it just in case. The rest of my "supplies" I'm planning on getting in Cocoa Beach on Friday afternoon. I like the soft sided cooler option, I saw one at the Container Store yesterday, I may go back and get it.

Hi everyone,

See you then.

I'm here, I'm here....fell asleep earlier, now I'm wide awake. Mondays make me tired. Does anyone else feel overwhelmed with all the cruise planning on top of Christmas stuff to do?? We are having company on Saturday and I have SO much to do, but all I really want to do is get ready to cruise. I'm watching for that Fed Ex guy....I know we'll all have our docs by New Year's!!! In fact I got my excursion docs right around Thanksgiving. That seemed early to me, now I want my real docs, so exciting!!
I am soooo happy... I have been trying daily to get our returning flight changed to a later flight, so I would have one less worry. I kept getting not-so-helpful agents at Northwest. But today I got an absolute sweetheart who was able to get us on a 10:45am flight coming back on Sunday instead of Saturday, and didn't even charge me to make the change, even though I was on a non-changeable/non-refundable fare deal. I am SO relieved now!! Oh, and I asked about the alcohol thing, and she told me it would be fine to check the beer. She just said that it has to be less that 70 pounds. LOL!! I don't think I'll be bringing 70lbs of ZiegenBock. :D
Well, now I just need to get back on Priceline and secure a room for the Saturday night when we get back... Another $25 Amerisuites deal will make me very happy!! :)

That WILL be one less worry, how nice of them to change your flight with no penalty!! And good luck with Priceline. When I tried for that night I could not get anything by the airport for my bid, had to go with "Florida Mall" which seems to be more of a business district, and then I got my rooms for $25. That was fine, although I hoped to be closer to the airport.
And Why AREN't you bringing 70 lbs of ZiegenBock??? LOL!!!!

Here is the question of the day to bump us up....what dining rotation are you hoping for?? I think I want PLAPLAP, but will work with whatever I get. The advantages of PLAPLAP from what I understand is Lumiere's on formal nights, Parrot Cay on tropical night, hope to get Palo dinner maybe on Wednesday night, what do you all think?? Does anyone know how they assign the rotation?? We booked very early for this trip, does DCL consider some rotations more desirable than others?? OOH, just found a thread that gives some insight, looks like we would *probably* get LAPLAPL according to this:
http://64.225.125.24/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=130177&highlight=dining+rotation
Watch for those docs this week!!
I really hadn't thought about rotation too much... Since we have 2nd seating, I'll usually be at dinner by myself, which means I might or might not even eat in whatever restaurant I have assigned that night depending on if I have to sit by myself or not (which I would never in this lifetime do.) Whew! How's that for a run-on sentence?? ;) I did request a larger table, so hopefully that will come through and I'll make some new friends. :)
I just want my docs!!!!! :D

Gina, you will almost certainly be at a table with 4-6 others, from what I have read and seen. I wouldn't worry about eating alone, you will have fun and make new friends I'm sure. When we went on the 3 day we had our own table for 4, and chatted a lot with the table behind us that had 2 parties of 3 seated there. They were a fun bunch and we wished we were seated with others then. In fact the first night, at that table, one man's wife and daughter were seasick (I was surprised since we had very calm seas I thought) so he was dining "alone" with the other party of 3. They were all having a great time, and included us in their revelry. Everyone was in such a festive mood.
Thanks, Kendall, that makes me feel better. :) I just had visions of it being me by myself at this huge table or something.
Quick subject change: For anyone who is coming to our little sailaway party on deck 10, I've got ya covered on bubbles! :) I was at Walmart the other day, and they had this box of 24 little tiny bottles of bubbles. They're so cute! And since they're so small and all together in one box, they'll be easy to pack they're great for one-time-use. So if you didn't have any bubbles yet, y'all won't have to worry about getting any. :)
In case I don't make it back on here today, Merry Christmas, everyone!!! See you in 40 more days!!!! :D

Gina, thanks for covering us on the bubbles!! As you can see I am having an exciting Christmas Eve at home, we had our family party last Saturday the 22nd so everyone could come to it.
Luvmy2boyz, I am not sure if the docs go to your TA first and then to you, or what. Definitely start asking TA about your docs in the next week or so, coz they are arriving (at least at my house).
I think Dave from Marietta or someone posted that there is a Publix store in Cocoa Beach to pick up supplies. I could be wrong but I think that was it. I will do a search to be sure, and will post the link if I find it.
http://64.225.125.24/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=127830&highlight=publix
I do know about the shipboard credit...I had called to get a reduced rate on my 2nd stateroom when the rates dropped, and the CM got overzealous (she was very nice and helpful, I don't think she realized that SSO would cost us on the main cabin) and also got us a discount on our main stateroom, inadvertantly (sp?) causing us to lose our shipboard credit (due to Sunshine Sailaway rates). "discounts cannot be combined" and all that jazz. Anyway, we were only truly discounted $22 on our main cabin (due to the fact that taxes had increased since we booked), not worth losing $200 over, so I called and made them give us back our shipboard credit, which they did after a fairly long phone call, involving supervisory approval. At that time she explained how the credit DOES NOT show upon our docs, only in the DCL computer, which I don't like, but it does still show up they said, as I have asked them to confirm it every time I have called. So I hope that makes some sense. I do have first hand experience wth the shipboard credit. I just hope I don't get any hassle onboard or I will be upset. They have been really nice about it so far, though.

Time to bump this thread...how are you all?? Was Santa good to you?? I got Cobra 2 way radios for Christmas, mainly because DH thinks they will be handy for fishing with his buddies after we use them on the cruise LOL, he is such a romantic!! I did get other gifts too, so don't feel sorry for me....but our main family gift is the cruise!!!
Does anyone else get nervous, not about packing and stuff (or weirdos with shoe bombs, sorry we won't go there), but like "what if it rains every day?" or "what if I miss the ferry from St John and have to stay there forever when I miss the ship??" (doesn't really sound SO bad does it?). I know, I'm just being neurotic, but all of a sudden lately I am nervous, but still excited. Telling myself to get into vacation mode and just relax and enjoy, right??
I am writing and rewriting my packing lists too. Gina, how do you colorcode your lists? I need hints.
As soon as the Christmas tree is down, I am going to set up a "packing corner" and start throwing stuff into our bags from my lists, and as I think of things. Sure don't need any summer clothes here right now, it's pretty wintry. Just enough to make me really look forward to cruisin'. See ya!!!
LOL, Kendall!! Worrywart. ;) Lesse... if it rains every day, then that just means that you get to spend more time in the spa. Darn. And as for getting stranded on St. John, I still can't see what's wrong with that??? :D I keep telling everyone at work that they had better get used to not seeing me, because I ain't comin' back. I'm going to just live under a palm tree on the beach, and sell sea shells to tourists or something. ;)
After the luggage fiasco with Delta last month, I'm taking a much more neurotic approach to packing this time. I've flown so much for so long, and never had a problem -- I guess I just started taking it for granted that my clothes might actually accompany me to my final destination.
I've bought an additional 20" pilot case to carry on, so TD and I will each have one. All of my makeup, toiletries, etc., as well as bathing suits and a change of clothes for each of us will be carried on. Then the beer, then as many more clothes as I can fit around that. :) I have the whole packing list typed out as one list, then I have each item highlighted yellow or pink according to whether it's going in the suitcase or one of the carryon's. Items that are going in both (like socks) are striped with both highlighters. It's completely anal-retentive, but it makes it a lot easier for me to see at a glance what's going where. :)
Speaking of luggage, I have a question y'allmight be able to answer: I know that we're allowed one other "special" item on board, like a briefcase or laptop. I always carry on my old Magic Kingdom Club soft attache case. Do y'all know which one I'm talking about? I love that thing -- it's just like a big purse to me when I travel. Do you think that will be allowed as my briefcase-type item? It's the same size, just not hardshell.
I have never seen so many FedEx trucks in my life as around here on Christmas Eve. But none of them came to my house. :( I WANT MY DOCS!!! I won't let myself start a "packing corner" until I have them and have convinced myself that I'm really going. :)

Speaking of the spa, I'm thinking about getting a Rainforest pass for sea days, I think I saw that once, that they have a 3 day pass just for sunday, monday and thursday. On Entropy's site I saw some neat stuff about the cellulite treatment, but it's pretty spendy. The Rainforest is a pretty good bargain I think.
superdisneydad if you're around, I finally noticed you're a Minnesotan too!!
Gina, I have thought about never coming back too. someday....
All I know about carryon is when I went to Memphis, my daughter & I each just brought a medium/small duffle (it fit perfectly under the seat) and I tucked my purse into it. We didn't check luggage as it was only a 3 day trip but I noticed other people had carryon about 20 inches as well as additional smaller carrythings of various sizes and the airline didn't seem to mind. Good luck!!
Here's hoping everyone gets their docs tomorrow or Friday!!!

Actually, I got them *yesterday* but didn't know it!! I thought that FedEx would leave them at the door, but I guess it depends on how your TA sends them. Mine required me to sign for it. But we always go through the garage -- never the front door -- and he had left the notice in between the storm door and the regular door where I couldn't see it!! Something just made me check, just to be sure... and there it was! I'm sure I broke several traffic laws getting to the FedEx office before it closed. ;) But I have them!! YAHOO!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

I'm at home this week with an incredibly slow internet connection so I haven't been on the boards too much.
So happy to hear that there will be another little girl Texan on-board. My DD 3 1/2 had her Christmas wish come true and got a Disney castle which she has played with non-stop since Christmas morning.
Thanks Gina for the bubbles!!
I really need to start my packing planning...maybe next week after all my holiday visitors are gone.
I'm pretty sure there are two Publix markets in Cocoa Beach, check Dave's site for exact locations.
I'm really hoping for the PLAP rotation but what I'm hoping for even more is to get early seating...still on the wait list. No docs, late seating...maybe time for a new TA?
5 weeks and counting:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Well hey, *we'll* be at late seating, so it can't be ALL bad!! LOL!! We're there by choice, though. :) I wouldn't worry about your TA and your docs -- I don't think they have much control over either the seating waiting list or when they get your docs from Disney. I think everyone is going to start getting them all the sudden!
Hey, I was wondering, how are we going to all know recognize each other at the sailaway party?? I still haven't figured out where to put my green ribbon without either my GoH badge, DisneyDollarless badge (another group I'm in that frequently has meets) or my pin lanyard on! I guess I could just make a bow with the ribbon and pin it to my shirt. What is everyone else doing??
35 more days!!! :D :D

I haven't received my Docs yet but I did visit Dave's sight and The Disney Magic is now on my Desk Top in all it's glory!! It is too cool! :) Picked up DH's suit from the dry cleaners and I will be sorting through ds's clothes as soon as I get the Christmas tree down! I still can't believe we will be sailing in a few short weeks!! My Dh has signed up for one month of unlimited tanning, I myself am not a tanner, He tried to talk me into it once but I didn't last 1 session! I will take my chances with the hot southern sun! I did however turn the tred mill on yesterday and so far made it 2 days in a row! Pretty good for me, I hate exercising!I hope to be in swimsuit shape by Feb. 2nd but if not oh well that's what they make coverups for! ;)

Well, the Christmas tree is down now and I started packing!! Considering we have almost 5 weeks, that may seem obsessive but it makes me feel great now!! I feel much more relaxed to have some stuff actually organized and not just on lists. The clothes are the least of it, it seems, that's what surprises me.
I had read a tip to use gallon size ziplocs for a lot of the smaller stuff that's packed, in case bags are searched. It's easy to see what's in them and they don't get dumped all over. Plus it's just handy to pack this way. I have my over the door shoe bags and some snorkel gear, 2 underwater cameras, lots of film (I read to NOT put it in your checked luggage too, because of high intensity xrays). All that stuff seems to really add up spacewise. Not to even mention shoes, what a pain. Even at only 2-3 pair per person they sure take up space!! Well, I guess we'll each be wearing a pair so it won't be so bad.
Luvmy2boyz, I'm with you on the tanning. I have my sunscreen, hope that will be enough.
Welcome amf1016!! Can't wait to meet all you Texans, this should be fun.
Gina, glad you got your docs!!
ssclbc, I am hoping for PLAP too, I wish they could tell us early so I could plan things more now.
Well, that's all my news for now. Everyone have a happy and safe New Year's.
I haven't started actually packing, but I did start a "cruise box" where I'm dumping everything as I get it. Like today, I picked up a little tube of toothpaste and some more film, and a trial-size thing of those Wisk laundry tablets. Into the box it all went. I figure it'll be a lot easier that way than to have to dig it all out later. But I'm sure I'll have the suitcase out soon -- I'm one of those who packs way ahead of time. ;) But I especially want to start early on this one, because a lot of what I'm packing is real different than for my WDW trips. It should be easier to pack this time, though, because I can pack most of the clothes now. Even here in Southeast Texas, we don't need bathing suits and shorts right now. :)
It's funny y'all mentioned the tanning thing -- I was just fixing to ask who else besides me was going to hit the tanning salon before the trip. :) Guess y'all aren't! LOL!! It's so infernally hot here most of the time, I avoid the sun like a vampire... thus, I have this lovely deader-than-thou pallor. I want to get a head start. Plus, it'll make it easier to know what shade of foundation to pack. I don't want a tan body and an ivory face. :) I used to tan all the time -- to me, it's just THE most relaxing thing in the world. It's warm, the fan is blowing, your favorite music is coming right out of the pillow, aaaahhhhhhhh... :) I love it. It's just hard (and expensive) to do post-child. But I think I can manage it for a week.
Okay, here's my latest cruise-stress, that maybe y'all can help me with: It didn't really dawn on me until today that are two formal? semi-formal? evenings on the ship. I know this has been asked before, but what the heck is the difference?? I'm "only" 35, but back in my day, formals were long flowing things... I sleep in more than what people wear to formals now. So going by that, my "formal" is a beaded, cocktail-length dress (not black.) So what do I do for the "semi-formal???" And what about DS -- he has his suit for "formal" night, what about this semi-formal night?? Why is this all so confusing for me?? LOL!! ;)
Luvmy2boyz: Stop that exercising right now. You're going to make the rest of us look bad. ;)

Alright Gina!! A long post!! I am so obsessed with this trip....sad to think that it will actually end one day....I guess I'll just have to plan another one. The anticipation has been so fun though. DH & I decided if we do this again we're going to do it kind of last minute. Look at all the cruise deals around now, kind of makes me wish we could jump on some hot travel deal but this is good too. (understatement).
I thought about tanning but decided against it. If I had more hours in a day I might do it but the time factor weighs heavy.
You want to see pallor...check out a Minnesotan in February!!!
About the formal thing...don't stress. Your dress sounds fine.
And for semi formal, to me, that means a skirt is fine. Dressy is good but you will be pleasantly surprised to see a lot of people "underdress" on a cruise. (and some will dress "to the nines"). It's a choice really, just not that big a deal.
I have one formal type dress I got on clearance after Christmas last January (shh, don't tell) and I'm now watching another clearance rack but the one I want is only half price now, waiting for at least 75% off.
Otherwise I have 2 skirts that aren't real fancy, but they will do.
My 16 year old is into the grungy look, I am hoping she will cooperate and wear her one dress, or at least black pants and a blouse. My 12 year old loves to dress up, I'll have no problems with her.
I am not an expert on little boys dress up but they look so cute dressed up. I would think he could wear his little suit duds on Sunday and Thursday formal nights and if he has khakis and a button down or polo type shirt, or something like that, those seem to be the typical regular dinner attire if he doesn't wear his suit on the other nights.

Happy New Year!!:) :) I am traveling with 3 sports dominated males, does anyone know if the Super Bowl will be shown on board? Can you imagine if the Packers made it to the Super Bowl and 3 Wisconsin males couldn't watch it?? Us women would be in Big Trouble, because you know it would be our fault!!LOL;)
Okay, it just dawned on me that since we're flying in a day before our cruise, that means that we leave in ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!! Ohmygosh, I can't believe it's that soon!! I know that this past month has flown by so quickly, I'm not even sure where it went, so I know the cruise is going to be here before we know it. YIPPEE!!!!! :D :D :D
I don't know what I'd do without y'all here to vent my excitement on... if y'all are rolling your eyes at me, at least I can't see you. ;)
I went to the mall today to check out the sales and see if I could find one more dressy outfit, but no luck. But I *was* able to pick up the new pins at the Disney Store, so the trip wasn't a total wash. :) I do have a couple of nice skirts, so I guess I'll bring one of those outfits for the semi-formal night, and save the cocktail dress for the formal night.
Luvmy2boyz -- I'm sure they'll have the Superbowl showing on the cruise! I know there was a thread about this not too long ago. I was going to go search for it, but haven't had a chance yet. I love football, and love the Packers -- I'll probably be up there watching it with the guys! LOL!

One month to go!!!
I'm back at work with my faster connection so expect to hear from me more often.
My TA says she is sending out my docs today!!! Woo-hoo, finally.
I wouldn't worry about the tanning thing...doesn't offer much protection anyway and there will be lots of pale-faces around (like me for instance, not much melanin here:-) )
Just get really good sunscreen (I've found the spray coppertone sport is great, in a pinch you can even do your own back).
OK time to start obsessing about packing....
Gina, it looks like you tried to send me an e-mail but I've been having alot of trouble with my excite account so it didn't come across. Try LCampagna@ameripath.com if you want.
Hey, we were buried all the way on page *3*!! Can't have that LOL :D
I was wondering about the sailaway party meet... are we still going to do that? If we are, those of us who have never been are going to need explicit directions of where exactly we're meeting. :)
I just still can't believe how fast time is rolling along, and how soon we're going to be there!!! :D :D
Now where are all y'all hiding??? ;)

I'm up for a party....never been on the ship before so I definately need explicit directions...I seem to remember someone mentioning deck 10 near the ESPN thing....port or starboard?
I'm in full list making mode.
Any idea how hard it is to find sunscreen in the winter? Like the sun doesn't shine? LOL
Just 4 weeks from tomorrow until we head to sunny (and hopefully warmer) Florida!:D

Hi all, here was my idea for our meet, any opinions welcome....Deck 10 near ESPN lounge area at 5pm sailaway. Port or starboard, let's vote. Starboard I think would put us on the land-view side. Port would be the sea-view side, right?
here is a map of Deck 10.
http://dcl.reservations.disney.go.com/DisneyCruise/Descriptions/Popups/deck_10.html
Deck 10 will be less crowded (I hope) than Deck 9 and ESPN area should be easy for everyone to locate.
Nothing new here except it warmed up into the 20's today!! We were so thrilled to be out of single digits and teens. Speaking of teens, wish I could pin mine down and make sure they have clothes to wear on the cruise. They assure me everything is "cool" but last time we went to Florida in August my older daughter packed NO SHORTS, saying she doesn't wear them. She changed her tune pretty quick and wore her sister's shorts so I had to do laundry midweek since the shorts all got dirty faster. I've already told this family I WILL NOT do more than 1 load of laundry on the cruise, if even that, they can do their own.
I've got Wisk tablets packed anyway (for THEM to use LOL).
well, enough venting about that, hope all the east coastal southerners are doing OK with all that horrible weather. I feel their pain....
GG now, see you all soon!!!

Hi guys!! I know I've only posted once, but I have been lurking. I am also in full packing and tanning mode. Don't worry Gina you aren't the only one that loves to tan. There is nothing better than a 20 minute nap in a nice warm tanning bed in the middle of the day!! I am dreaming of the Caribbean right now while I am suppost to be working. The 10 inches of snow outside might have something to do with it.
I will be there for the DIS meet at 5pm. Deck 10, Outside the ESPN club right? Just let me know which side of the boat.
See you guys in less than a month!!!:D :D :D

How are all you northerners dressing on the way down? This probably sounds like a stupid question but I'm torn, I don't want to drag big heavy jackets but I don't want to be cold either!(Especially my 2 ds's) I'm thinking of maybe sweat suits, we are being dropped off at the airport so I thought maybe we could wear our jackets up until dropoff and scoot in the airport quickly so as not to freeze. My ds is so excited every day he asks if we're going on the Disney Cruise today! I wonder how full the ship will be, I checked the cruise line board and it looks like cat. 4,6,7, 11 and 12 are sold out but they are still giving the early booking discount. I'm kind of hoping it won't be too full. Better chances for Palo's and Spa reservations;) . I will try to make the meet but am traveling with 2 other familys. Otherwise hope to run into some of you on the High Seas. I called my TA about my docs, it turns out he's been sitting on them while waiting for our airline tickets. I told him I'd give it until Tues. then I was coming to pick them up airline tickets or not! I want my docs so I can be prepared! I just read where Pres. Carter was on board for New Years, how exciting to have a former Pres. sailing! I have decided not to do any Disney excursions, we are thinking of going to Coral World on our own. I checked out thier sight it looks like a fun place, with lot's of activities. I think Disney charges $120.00 for family of 4, where as a family pass to Coral World is only $52.00. Does anyone know if you can check children out of the kids club on Castaway Cay? I would like some time at the adult beach but I also want my kids to do some swimming while there. Although I have heard the water at CC is chilly, they and I may not want to go in:p Got the tree down and am starting to go through kids clothes to see what fits from last summer, my 51/2 yr old is really growing! As for me I tried on the dress I was going to wear to formal night and it is a little "snug" in the hip area! I guess there is no way getting around the Tred Mill!! Of course I could go out and buy a new dress;) ;) !!
Hi y'all!! Ugh, I'm glad this day is over... had to have a tooth pulled today, and I'm the biggest denta-phobe in the world. But my dentist put me on Tylenol 4 (I didn't even know there was a *4*!!) so I'm feeling pretty okay now. :) Pain meds usually never work on me at all, so that's why we're trying the T4 this time. So far, so good -- this is the first time in my dental history that I have been in NO post-procedure pain. This tooth has been bothering me off and on for a while, but not bad enough to get my past my hysteria of going to the dentist, until the past few days. At least now I won't have to worry about it on the cruise.
And I'm sure all y'all really wanted to hear about my dental woes, right?? :)
Snwwhite -- Welcome!!! So glad to have another!! And glad you'll be at the sailaway party! Do you have your lime-green ribbon yet so we'll know you're a DIS-er?? :)
luvmy2boys -- Where did you check how full the cruise is?? I'd love to see that, too!
Kendall -- I studied the deck plans, and I think I can now find the ESPN place on deck 10. But if you know what I look like, so if you see me wandering aimlessly around before the sailaway party, please grab me!! :)

Luvmy2boyz I had thought the same question about clothing. My kids wear those hooded sweatshirts all the time so they will wear those. I have a polar fleece jacket that is warm enough without being too bulky so I will wear that. DH has an allweather type fishing jacket that he will wear. I haven't even broken out my heavy parka this year, just dressed in layers on the colder days.
Also I agree about the DIS excursions, I have a Frommer's book that tells how to do all the same things for less money on your own. Plus these boards have helped planning too. I think I read if you go to Coral World to try Coki Beach also that is nearby. I think that is the beach.
About the Castaway day, I *think* you can check the kids out of it, I don't know why not. When we went before my DD didn't want to do Oceaneers at CC so we stayed at the family beach. The main thing I remember is feeling like I was in heaven, aaahhh.
Gina, hope your tooth feels better now.
snwwhite, good to see you here again.
Any votes on port or starboard for the meet? Sea side or land side? I see there is a sitdown bar area (I think) forward of ESPN (Outlook bar?) that's what it looks like, we could consider that but I want to stand by the railing I think, or where we can look down on Deck 9. I remember it being VERY windy and I have pictures of my girls with their hair all flying out on Deck 10.
The ESPN doors face out port and starboard so we can plan to stand directly out from the doors, I think. Should we consider starboard side/land view side?? Anyone??
Post or starboard doesn't make any difference to me -- I'll happily go along with whatever you Magic veterans decide. :) Just tell me where, and I'll be there! :)

Hi Gina glad your tooth is better, I had a wisdom tooth pulled once, It was so painful! What a relief when it was out! To check availability I just went to the Disney sight and under reservations and get a quote, I was just checking the price and saw that they were not offering those catagories any more. I checked the cruises prior to us and the cruise that ends Feb. 2nd is SOLD OUT ! Glad We're not sailing that week. I sure hope the staff isn't worn out for our cruise;) Northsouth I think sweat shirts are going to be fine also. I'm just worried about the snow! We haven't had much yet and I'm hoping we don't get hit Feb. 1st. What's the Frommers book and where can I get one? Snwwhite, my dh is a tanner, he started his sessions today. I have darker skin so am not too worried about getting burnt but he is very fair so he needs some kind of base. Does anyone know if you can still carry on garment bags. We haven't flown in years but we always used to carry those on, they used to have a place to hang them. I just read a post about checking you luggage at the port for return flights, I had no idea you could do this, we will be flying Continental and they resume this service next week.

time to bump....
Should we plan a starboard Deck 10 ESPN area meet then for around 5pm?? Looking at the other "meet" threads, it looks like 4:45 pm is a good time to arrive too. So I'll try to be up there a little early with my frou frou green ribbon.
I told DH there will be Packer fans aboard, he is not a rabid Vikings fan anyway (especially this year) so don't worry about any brawls LOL. He is a big football fan though, and thought it would be pretty cool if Green Bay got to Superbowl with all you Packer fans there. They just better show Superbowl on the ship or people will be crying (not me though, I am not a huge sports fan, sorry to say.)
Luvmy2boyz, you could get a Frommer's book probably even at the library. It's not really worth buying unless you plan to cruise a lot, or visit different islands on extended stays, and I've actually learned more from these boards than from Frommer's. But it did have some interesting tips and places to see listed.
Then 4:45, deck 10 starboard, it is! :D Hey, where are you wearing your frou-frou ;) green ribbon?? I still haven't figured anything out. I'm just lost without my pin lanyard to attach things to, LOL.
I actually found two bargains at Target today!! For some reason, the Targets here *never* seem to have all the great deals that everyone is always talking about. Well today I got some new water shoes for DS for $1.24, and some really nice all-black flip-flops for DS for only .74!! They're the nice sorta-suede kind. He's been wearing them around the house all day. :)
Can y'all believe we leave in 25 days?!?!? YEE-HAW!!!! :D :D

Hi guys!! I can't post on the weekends because my home computer is broken. I have to wait and post at work (while I'm suppost to be working!!). I just can't seem to keep my mind on anything but the cruise. Has this happened to anyone else lately??
As far as taking Disney excursions, I wouldn't. We did everything on our own last year and had a great time. We went to Orient Beach in St. Maarten and Maegans Bay in St. Thomas. So much cheaper that going through Disney. This year we are going to Trunk Bay in St. John. I can't Wait!!!
Sweatshirts or light jackets are the way to go at the airport. That way you have something light to use in the theatres. They do get chilly. We also needed ours at the sailaway party last January.
Have a great day everybody!!!

Two reasons to be happy today....
One the airlines have started checking you in at the pier for return flights if you got the Disney transfers. I gambled on this being restarted by our cruise and it was!! Hoooray, much easier than dragging luggage all over the place.
Two, I was planning on staying at the Doubletree the night before the cruise (for what I thought was an OK price) but instead I got a $35 rate at the Hilton through Hotwire. Saved some $$$ to be spent at the spa!!
Now if only my docs would arrive...TA says she sent them last week.
Can't wait to see everyone deck 10 starboard:bounce: :bounce:

I just posted yesterday some questions about the "MAGIC" and Gina was nice enough to "take me in"--- Like a lost puppy looking for a home! AND I FOUND IT!
I also will be traveling Feb 2--- can't wait!
My Dh, DD 51/2 (will be turning 6 on the 8th of Feb), DS 4/12 and DS 2 almost 3-- only a few weeks away! Do you think he will be able to hang with the older kids ? My kids seem to work very well in a pack! He is potty trained and loves to be around the older sibs!---- We'll see--Oh yeah-- we will also be traveling with Grandma and Papa Disney! My mom is the one that hooked us on to Disney- We always went when I was little --- but My hubby was not "into" it------------Until our first trip with the kids in 98-- We sucked him right in and have been going every year since!
Something about Disney---
Okay-- don't want to babble!
However I have read all the discussion boards and replys from this group and feel at home! Thank you! I will run out and look for lime green ribbons tomorrow!
I am worried about night time clothes--- I am a stay at home mom---- live in my jeans! But I'll start looking and cleaning out my closets---- I am sure I have something that fits! LOL
Thanks for listening! Talk to you soon!
We are getting in Friday too--- can't remember where we are staying --- gotta talk to the TA--- haven't received the docs yet -- Maybe she has!

Welcome Ginamull to our Feb. 2 cruising group!! You have to come to our DIS meet, sailaway party at 4:45 in front of the ESPN club. My daughter will have just turned 6 on Jan 11 and I would love to introduce her to your daughter. If she had a friend, she may enjoy the kids club more.
Don't worry over the night time outfits. I wore capri pants or a long skirt every night (except formal night). You will be fine. Not to mention that can get away with wearing the same pants a couple of times, since you are only wearing them for a couple of hours in the evening; shorts and bathing suits the rest of the time!!!
Hi Gina!! I'm so glad you found us! We have what seems to be a real fun bunch on this sailing, and I think our mini-meet at the sailaway party is going to be the first of many get-togethers onboard. :)
I just can't believe how many 6 or almost-6 year olds of ours are going to be there... the Oceaneer Club is going to be all DIS kids! How cool!! :D
I AM GETTING SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! :D :D :D
Whew... I feel sorta better now... had to get that out, and they frown on screaming and jumping up and down at work. ;)

Allright, we're back on-line!!!
Was everyone else going through withdrawal like me?
Looks like we lost a few posts...let's see, where were we?
By my last count we had 11 groups who had posted with 29 kids between them....is everyone still out there?
Just a little more than two weeks to go!!!
Oh, I took my DD to see Beauty and the Beast at the IMAX this past weekend. It was incredible!! If you get a chance to see it, definately do it!
Found a collapsible cooler at Walmart. Also got an air mat for castaway cay for only $1.50 (sure beats renting one for $6!). Getting ready slowly but surely.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
YAY!!! Oh man, it has been a loooooong week without the DIS and my 2/2 cruise buddies!!!! :D How is everyone?? I am pretty much packed and ready to go, except for the everyday stuff. I can't believe how fast it's coming up on us!!! Has everyone got their green ribbon?? :)

I am so happy that the boards are back up. I was going through major withdrawals. I also found a cooler at walmart. I can't seem to find any green ribbon. I did find a lime green ponytail holder. So if worse comes to worse look for me with my hair up. I also found my daughter a cute outfit from Target (lime green shirt with matching capri pants).
Only 2 more weeks!!!!!
Y'all are gonna get soooo sick of hearing from me, but I have almost a week's worth of stuff to say!! LOL!!! :D
snwwhite -- that outfit for your daughter sounds perfect! And we'll look for you with your hair up. :)
Did anyone else ever get their pictures posted, and want to share them? If nothing else, just look for me and my little boy at the sailaway party, and maybe we can all find each other. If anyone would like the URL to our pictures again, just let me know. I just don't want anyone to miss our little DIS party inadvertantly!
I've been to 4 tanning sessions now, and I'm starting to lose that radioactive pale glow. ;) Some places, like my stomach and back, are already really dark, which is really useless, since no one ever sees those parts. :) But I have 1 more session on the regular bed, then two sessions on the super-turbo bed before we go, and maybe I'll be able to wear shorts without people needing to put sunglasses on to ward off the glare of my white skin. :)
DS is healing up nicely where his face met the ground. His lip and chin have big ugly scabs now, but hopefully he'll be fine by the cruise and the pictures that we'll be taking. Poor little guy looks like he was in a prize fight right now!
Okay, I'll shut up, for now. ;)

HELLO!
Boy-- did I miss this DIS group! I had several questions on the last thread I wrote -- and I was waiting for answers--- of course it's missing!
I kept checking this ---like 3 times a day--- I wanted to talk Disney talk -- I was afraid I'd never get it back!
Anyway--
Gina-- You put me to shame! PACKED already! I have a spot in my closet where I have tossed things I want to get packed---- I am happy with my progress there! HAHA
Okay- ??????? for everyone--
My DH and I were having one of our little "discussions"--- I want to bring the stoller with us for my almost 3 year old--- Just becuase It's faster to move with him seated and we won't have to carry him when he is tired--- so --- What does everyone think?
Do they have strollers on the ship? Are they comfy? Will we need one for the island? HELP! ?????? I told DH that I would ask--I am open to any advice!
Also-- What is the Disney Mate match game? Someone mentioned it -- I forgot who-- And I was just wondering--
Anyone know If our cruise is sold out?
LEt's see- I know I had a ton of ????? to ask-- I couldn't wait to get back online!
Why is everyone buying a cooler? Do I need one-- Walmart is just around the corner!
Sunday we went to see Disney on Ice-- It was great-- really got the kids in the Disney mood!
Okay-- I'll stop babbling so you can answer-
Bye for now!

::The password is... "anal retentive"::
LOL!! I HAVE to pack early... the combination of me being too busy and always scatterbrained, a small child constantly "helping" me, and zero extra time to anything makes last-minute packing too stressful and disastrous for me. Packing early means I can check, double-check, and triple-check my lists and make sure I don't forget anything. Okay, and I am just really anal-retentive about packing. :D
Glad to see our group making their way back in here!

I'm bringing a cooler for extra beverages we pick up in Cocoa Beach before the cruise. Just a little extra space to keep sodas, beer, wine cool. We have a balcony cabin and it's nice to have some drinks in your room for enjoying on the balcony. Also, I thought I might use it in St. Thomas to pack some drinks and snacks/lunch in if we decide to just take a taxi to the beach.
Has anyone else decided what shore excursions they are taking? I am seriously considering the Sea and See in St. Martin. I've been to Phillipsburg twice so I definately want to see more of the island. It's one of the few excursions that a 3 year old can go on and see fish too. As for St. Thomas, I'm debating just taking a taxi to either Magen's bay or Coral World. I'd really love to go to St. John but I'm afraid it might be too much running around with too little time on the beach for my DD. Anyone have any comments?
I don't think they have strollers available on the ship. If I were to bring one, I'd try to bring an "umbrella" type one. I don't think you'd want a full size one taking up cabin space. My DD has never been very tolerant of strollers, so we probably won't bring one. We are planning on bringing her carseat to use on the plane and rental car.
Disney on Ice is playing here while we're on the cruise. Oh well, I'd rather be cruising!

WOW-- May I say I am impressed with the quick response!
I didn't know you could bring drinks on board! GReat idea! My DH is excited about the veranda! Drinks there sound great~!
I really didn't think much about the shore excursions because of the kids-- I didn't think they could really do anything-- Coral world sounds great-- I am open for advice on that too!
I forgot about not having much room in the staterooms-- Will they be doing alot of walking? I guess DH is right--SHHH don't tell him!
I keep forgeting to find something green---- better get on that-- remind me!
Talk to you all soon!

Definitely take a cooler and ziploc bags. Bottled water on the ship is like $2 a bottle. Bring your own. Order sandwiches from room service the night before and put them in the ziploc bags. The next day pack your cooler with lunch for the day. We never do Disney excursions. We always just grab a taxi and go to the beach. Having the cooler with us is great.
I am getting more excited by the minute!!!

Oh yeah, beverages are allowed! I must say I'm impressed by Disney's leniency in this regard. Some cruise lines make you feel like a criminal if you try to avoid their outrageous beverage prices.
I just checked out the website for Coral World www.coralworldvi.com. It looks pretty cool! There's even a coupon for $3 off an adult admission (normally $18) and $1 off a child's (normally $9). They rent lockers for $3/day and it looks like a taxi from the ship would be $7 per person each way. It's also next to Coki beach. Not a bad do-it-yourself excursion! Disney's is more ($35 per adult, 25 per child) and it looks like time is more limited.
I am so excited I can barely stand it!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I guess all my correspondence was deleted. I even had to re-register. I only had a couple of replies but I am the one w/2 sets of twins (ages 4 and 2). I know everyone is meeting by ESPN for the sail away party but if my kids don't want to miss the one by Goofy's pool, I won't force them. I bought 24 wedding bottles of bubbles and decorated them with stickers (Thanks to someone else's creative idea) and we will have 16 extra if anyone needs them. I'll have a green slinky-type braclet on (so will by children)and I'll either be by the Goofy pool or upstairs with everyone else.I have an old friend who used to work on a cruise line about a year ago and highly reccomends Coki Beach so that's where we'll be too(Magen's Bay is too crowded w/ other ships passengers also). My kids are "X-ing" the calendar daily and cannot wait. I have to admit though, I'm very anxious about getting all the reservations at the Nursery, Palos, and the Spa. It doesn't sound like it's that easy to get even if you are early. Kathy

whew!! I'm back too, glad these boards are back up, what a long week without these boards to turn to!! Glad to see you all here. My fingers are frozen and we may finally go below zero tonight for the first time this winter, that's good considering usualy we have a lot of subzero by now) so I can't type long but wanted to say HI !! I'll try to write more this weekend....only 2 more weeks!!!

Hi-
KathyV- I was just wondering what kind of send off would be at Goofy's pool? Because if my kids hear about it or see it--- they'll want to be there too!
Maybe we can meet there?? Or set another time to meet the rest of the "green" group --- Just a thought-- I really want the kids to get comfortable first--- so DM can enjoy the rest of the cruise!
Let me know!
Northsouth- Hope you warm up soon! But just think 2 more weeks and you will be sitting in the sun with a cocktail in your hand!

I'm still here reading posts, and my fingers are warming up a little. YES, I will be glad when they are wrapped around a cool drink on a HOT day!!! Actually 60 or 70 would feel hot to me now, can't wait to cruise!!
When we sailed the Wonder, the sailaway party was mostly on deck 9 around Goofy's pool I think, with music and dancing, but very crowded. And it lasts less than an hour I think because people need to get to 6pm dinner and shows. We can maybe schedule a tentative second meet for Sunday (afternoon?) in case people want to be on Deck 9 for Saturday's party. Just an idea.
still can't use search function about the stroller issue....
Hi Kendall!! I was wondering when you would find your way back. :) I'm trying to comprehend fingers being frozen... it was 75 degrees here today, so the cruise isn't going to be very different for us, weather-wise! Although we do have a front moving in overnight, and tomorrow the high is only 61. That's positively polar for down here. ;)
As far as the meeting place, I'll be up on 10 regardless. I don't care what's going on on 9, there's no way I'm getting in the middle of a crowd like that!! People crowded around me makes me feel really claustrophobic. I love the idea of being up on 10 and getting to look down on all the festivities and hear the music and still not get trampled. :) I'm all for another meet (or two!) at a different time for those who can't make the sailaway party. We could have a pin meet before/during the pin-trading times, or a hot-tub-and-squiffy-drink ;) meet some evening. Just some quick thoughts off the top of my head.
Anyone else have any ideas for other meets?

I agree with Gina that we should keep the deck 10 meeting place but I'm up for adding another time/place for those who want to be on deck 9. Sometime Sunday, since it's a sea day, would be good, late morning?
I think from looking at the deck plans that we'll be able to see what's happening on deck 9 from deck 10. I really dislike being in a crowd too, as does my DD (can't be alot of fun being 3 1/2 feet tall and surrounded on all sides!).

I'm with you, Gina, I get claustrophobic in crowds. I will enjoy deck 10 looking down myself. I like the hot tub or pin trading meet ideas too. Well, just had a few minutes here to get my DIS fix, still recovering from losing the boards all week!! Talk to you all later. We will set up an alternate meet so no one has to miss anything. Happy thoughts to all!!!

Hi-
I didn't know you could see or hear what was going on down below--- maybe it would be better to be on Deck 10 looking down-- the kids might be able to see even more that way!
What do you think? Is that true? This is all new to me-- open for advice!
I looked at Coral world-- looks great-- I think DH would love it--- looks like we will be going there-- I told Dh it's up to him-- as long as I get my message at the Spa ---I'll be open for anything--- well-- almost!

3 degrees here and I'm counting down the days until we are enjoying a nice cool drink on a nice hot deck!! I thought I was going to die walking Ds to the bus stop today! I just kept repeating 2 more weeks 2 more weeks!! Northsouth I haven't seen the Disney commercial yet here either but I have heard about it. It is something about a little girl talking about her Disney Cruise and how her mom and dad got to take a mud bath, then she says something about a younger sibling and that her parents call him the little souvenir. That's the general idea. I read a thread somewhere about it, may have been on cruise critic. I checked that sight out for the first time while the boards were down. I posted just before the boards went down but it must have been deleted. Kathy V I think I read somewhere that Disney has strollers available on board, give them a call and ask to make sure. Also I called Disney and they will be showing the Super Bowl on Sunday. How do you think this will affect formal night? If they show the Super Bowl live it is going to be right in the middle of dinner. We will also be going to Coral World. The admission for a family is $52.00 much cheaper than Disney. My DH and I snorkled at Coki beach back in 1991 and it was great, I don't think we will be able to snorkle this time because of the kids but I am sure we will still enjoy the beach! Anything is better than Wisconsin in the winter:p :p My Fil brought over the luggage but I haven't done much more than look at it:rolleyes: I admit I am notorious for doing things at the last minute. I may wash some of the boys clothes and get them packed tomorrow but I am not holding my breath. I am sure DH will pack at 4:30am on Friday morning, he's even more last minute than I am!! Catch you all later~Tracy

BAck again! Glad to see everyone is catching up and checking in!
I fill like we know each other-- how cool is that?
I haven' seen the comercial yet-- but that is funny---I am really thinking about # 4-- so that would be funny! You know how it goes with the drinks and the moon light....
I read about those Mudd baths-- DH refuses to go with me-- I think it would be alittle wild-- but it was worth a shot--- no luck he said NO WAY!-- Oh well! Looks like I get to book 2 spa treatments-- right girls?
Who do you call to find out about stollers? I would like too!
I have looked over the kids clothes to pack-- I am getting there-gina!
What about formal wear? For me --- What's everyones advice on that?
Okay-- Off to scrapbook-- I am behind and I want to catch up before the 15 rolls of DCL pictures come back!
Talk to you all tomorrow!
Enjoy your weekend!

Luvmy2boyz I hear ya!! I'm kind of glad for the cold weather coz now we will appreciate the warm weather even more!! (and warm to me right now would be anything over 50!!) That was my idea for booking in February, is having something to look forward to and getting away from these bitter winters, and maybe even gloating a little about it!!! Just never thought SuperBowl would get rescheduled like it did so that is such a relief that DH can still watch it. Thanks for checking that out.
And I don't know how that will affect formal night... wanted us to get family photos made that night, so that's a priority. I can't imagine they can fit all the Superbowl watchers in ESPN so they must show it in more than one location I would hope. Don't know how that will work. Also I don't want to miss the Captain's cocktail party if that is on Sunday....free drinks!!! but I think that is early like 5pm. I'll have to check the navigator. (checked, looks lke formal portraits start at 5pm, Captain's party at 545pm for late seating diners).
Speaking of navigators, I was checking out the "new" December ones on ****************** and it shows the sailaway party at 430pm. So 445pm on Deck 10 I think is still a good time for me, but wanted to mention this.
Gina M, sounds like formalwear can be as dressy or not as you want. My DH is bringing a suit and tie and I have 2 velvety type dresses I got on after-Christmas clearance, then skirts for other nights. Some people wear "business dressy" or "Sunday school dressy" and that is fine too. Even pants with a dressy top is fine I hear.
And some people might wear evening gowns and tuxes, it is all up to you.
I am usually a last minute packer but this trip I have been anticipating for so long that I am pretty organized this time. My teen daughter is making fun of me for having ziploc bags for a lot of stuff, and says she will pack 30 minutes before we leave for the airport. Such a brat!! Gina, she even made fun of my Downy Wrinkle Reducer!!! Actually she is a sweet daughter but my family likes to kid me about bringing too much stuff...little do they know that I am trying to be a light packer for this trip clotheswise, and I think I will surprise them how much I can get into only 3-4 bags (for 4 of us)!!!
http://www.fortunecity.com/campus/brigham/612/suriel.htm
Here are inkkognito's pics of the surial bath if anyone hasn't seen them. We were going to book it but I decided to just do Rainforest instead (DH says he'll go along with whatever I decide which is unusual for him). And I'm thinking of getting a haircut and style as there have been favorable comments about that. My hair is just impossible so I have been letting it go wild, hope I don't scare anyone!!
Anyone else going to try St John on their own?? That has been my plan but I am having second thoughts about it. Coki Beach sounds great too and would be a lot easier.
Well, that's all for now, just think where we'll be in 2 WEEKS!!!

At least you better not have left already on the cruise without me LOL!!!
I went to the Disney Store today and did they ever have a lot of cute pins!! Yes, I bought some too. Also had a huge sale; up to 75% off some items. I wanted to get DH a shirt with Grumpy on it but I know he won't wear it.

g.m.m. you can call Disney at 1-877-566-0976 they should be able to answer your stroller question. As for formal wear Dh has a suit and I will be wearing a dress that I bought for a wedding a few years ago, that is if I can fit into it! If not I will be buying a new one, not too fancy though, I'd like to be able to wear it again. As for the other nights I have a couple casual dresses and a skirt, maybe a pair of capris, Dh has a pair of khakies and some polos he will wear. Nice to hear from a fellow scrap booker!! I also have been trying to catch up before the Cruise pictures start coming in.
Northsouth I agree anything above 50 and I'd be in heaven!! We also plan our vacation to break up the winter blues. I figure by the time we get back Feb. is such a short month and we're into March and before you know it Spring is here:) We've always been meaning to try St. John's but with the kids we will head to Coral World. I have heard great things about St. John and hope to get there in the future. Hmm that means I'll have to plan another cruise. Sounds good to me. :p

Hi-
Okay-- Now we are really getting closer! I am getting nervous-- I have never "cruised" before-- all my vacations are laid out in advance -- I plan each day, dinner, activity and clothing.... I think Dh likes that I don't know what goes on the DCL-- It'll catch me off gaurd and he'll be able to relax alittle!
Northsouth- I did see some great sales at the mall in the Disney store! 75% off-- that's almost FREE in my book!
Luvysboyz-- Thanks for the phone number! I will call tonight-- hopefully have the stoller question answered!
And thanks for the clothing advice-- My mind is going 1,000,000 miles an hour!
I love scrapbooking-- I even became a Creative Memories consultant because I was using all of their products and loved them! It's easy to have classes when you really love and believe in something!
KathyV- I'll let you know about the stoller --- and I like the new word "foofy"--- I might just have to have 1 or a dozen "foofy" drinks my self!
How is the Potty Training going?
Also-- My TA said that when she was on the Magic in October some of the kids (mostly girls) got dressed up in their princess dresses for some of the dinners--- My Dd is a "princess" all the way! She picked out a few to bring-- I can only imagine that they will make a big fuss over little kids that dress up for dinner!
Although she did say she saw a few boys in Hook and Pan outfits too!--- FYI-- They sell the costumes on the ship-- however with Disnay Store having such a great sale--- It might be good to buy it and bring them along-- with the other 1,000 things you have to bring!
Okay-- I said my share!
Good bye for now!
Gina
Hi y'all!! Whew, thought I'd *never* get a chance to sit down and post this weekend! My weekends are always so packed with errand-running and stuff I never have time to do during the week, and it dawned on me that I only had 2 weekends left before the trip, so I was doubling up on to-do stuff. Went to Dollar Tree today, and they had the Banana Boat kids' sunscreen -- the spray-on, colored, waterproof kind -- that normally runs about $7 a bottle! I was so excited!! That is the exact kind that I use on DS, and was worried that I didn't have enough left for the whole cruise, and figured that even $7 would be cheap compared to what I'd find on the ship. Well $1 is even better!! :D
Tyler Dean (DS) and I watched the DCL video again tonight while eating dinner. I know we've watched it at least a dozen times already, but tonight it struck me that we would be on that big, beautiful ship in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, and I just got this big ole' lump in my throat. I just can't believe we're going to be standing there on that ship!!
Kendall -- You'll have the last laugh with your daughter and the wrinkle spray -- you know she'll just wad all her clothes up in the suitcase and they'll be all wrinkled. Then you can make her beg to use your spray. ;) I didn't want to carry that big bottle in my suitcase, so I found a smaller spray bottle to pour some into at Dollar Tree today. Oh man, I love dollar stores! :D
About that commercial -- I hope those of y'all who haven't gotten to see it, get to see it. It's hysterical!!
Well, time for me to get the T-Man into bed... talk to y'all later!!

Gina, I got online early this morning, had an email that you had posted to our thread (I was worried about you!! no posts in 3 days!!) but couldn't get on the board..."server busy" (looks like they did some updates to the board). I am getting so obsessed now, DH and I both are literally DREAMING of it now. I spent early Sunday morning in bed dreaming I was on a beach, I AM THERE!! Then DH said he dreamed that the ship allowed dogs and cats (he's weird) so we were both dreaming of the cruise.
That's so funny you went to Dollar Tree this weekend, I did too!! But I was looking for those cheap blowup beach rafts and didn't find any. So since my New Years resolution is to not buy stuff that isn't on my "list" I didn't buy anything even though they had a lot of nifty things I could bring on the trip but didn't buy them, since they didn't have what I went there for.
I have actually started really packing now, not just throwing stuff in bags, and I can see my "packing light" is getting doubtful, but I still I think I am doing really well for me. I'm down to the part where you lay out all your clothes and put half of them back in the drawer. That is so hard to do!! I am rationalizing that I don't want to do laundry so I can pack more.
gmm, do bring a princess outfit if DD has one, this is the place to wear it!! there was a new link to a trip report, I'll look for it and post it here if you didn't see it. they had a 3 YO DD who was a princess and danced with Mickey too I think.
Here is the link (then there is another link to the trip report):
http://198.65.131.237/showthread.php?s=&threadid=147428
and KathyV we will be on Deck 10 so come up there if you get a chance. We'll try to think up a Sunday alternate meet also just in case. I think at 2pm Sunday there is a party of some sort at Goofy's pool, according to the December navigators, maybe that would work (or is it naptime??)
Well, it won't be long now!!! See ya soon everyone!!

Hi Stacy!! Good to see another cruiser with us. You must have really fun neighbors!! We are having an informal DIS meet on Saturday (sailaway time) around 5pm on Deck 10 starboard near the ESPN lounge area if you're interested. Also I have a 12 year old daughter going...is the 12 year old a girl or boy?? So far I haven't seen many older kids going on our cruise (at least not on the DIS board). I also have 3 teen girls going. Hope to see you there!!
Hi Stacy!! So glad you found us! That is just too cool that we have not only another 5 year old along, but her name is Gina! :) That's at least 3 Gina's on the ship at the same time -- what are the odds?? I think I've known exactly 3 other Gina's my whole life! I hope y'all can come to our mini-meet at the sailaway party! If not, maybe another time?
Kendall -- Bravo on your restraint!! You're better than me, my friend. LOL!! Although I did only spend $9 at Dollar Tree, and half of that was on rawhide bones for The Moose and badly needed new dish towels. ;) And bravo also for trying to pack light -- I'm trying, but I don't think it's working.
I pretty much now have everything packed, except for fancy clothes and last-minute items. I'm ready to just go sit at the airport and wait. ;)
GinaM -- I think it would be SO cute if your daughter dressed in a princess costume!! I bet the staff would just eat it up. :)
I noticed something today... there aren't too many other "are you sailing xx-xx-xx?" posts. There are a few, but aside from the 1/19 group who are sailing now, no others have been as long-lasting and snowballing as ours! I think the inaugural Western sailing thread is the only other one with staying power. What I'm trying to say is, I think we're collectively going to have an AWESOME time!!! :) :) :) I think that there are going to be some really neat friendships forged on this ship, and I think that's pretty darn cool. :)

Hi Stacy welcome to our group! I will be traveling with 6 kids ages 3-8. Two of them are almost 6yr. olds, seems we have alot of kids in this group in that age category. Glad you found the board I know you'll get alot of good info. from it!
Northsouth and Gina, I am determined to get to the dollar store this weekend. I am so lazy, it's all the way across town and I don't want to drive that far! Since we moved to the "Burbs" I hate driving into the city! But you two have motivated me with talk of all the good deals! I hope they have sunscreen here, but since it's the middle of winter I'll probably have to wait until Florida. If I was a planner I would have bought it at the end of the season but being the last minute person that I am I will pay the big bucks;)
So, I've been talking about going through the kids clothes and I finally did it. They are all washed and packed:) Can't believe less than 2 weeks to go:D :D :D
g.m.m. just went to a Creative Memories class last week. I've got a brand new album and some great new ideas, so I'm all set!
So, I'm off to try on my swimsuit. Maybe I should have done that this morning. Don't they say you weigh the least right when you wake up. ;)

Hi Everyone!
Welcome Stacy! So glad you found our group! I think this is going to be an awesome vacation-- everyone here seems so friendly---- just wait until we get a few "foofy" (KathyV's word-- but I loved it) drinks and we'll be so chatty! My Dh knows he's in trouble when that starts! Oh well! Also I have a Dd that is 5 right now-- but on Feb 8th (Friday night on the ship) she will turn 6
:( ! I am glad it's on the ship--- but I am sad that my 1st one is getting so old! But --It will be a blast!
Lovemy2boyz-- You are making me look bad! All I have been doing is wondering the malls looking for something I need to pack for vacation! I have a CM workshop tomorrow-- after that my focus will be on packing! I hope! So glad to hear you are a scrapper! CM has the BEST tools for that! Enjoy it! Your family will Thank you in time!
Gina-- How funny is this-- so many Gina's on one ship--- we can call the 5 year old little Gina--- However -- I have a problem being called Big Gina---LOL-- don't you! We'll have to come up with something else! HAHA -- And I think you are so right-- seems like everyone is getting along so great--- I think we are going to have a great time!
KathyV- I called about the strollers-- NO strollers on board to rent-- nor on the islands! Also-- if anyone has any special food requests-- they were very helpful-- My Ds (almost 3 ) has had some problems with a bacteria in his colon--sounds gross--sorry--- He's all better but he is having a hard time switching back to Reg milk-- Right now he is on Soy or Lactose-free--- so they wrote that down on the list---- That was just an FYI
And Rachael is going to wear her princess dresses on the ship! Even shoes to match! That is the theme of her "friend " party-- I have been making the invites all night-- little "glass slippers" with the invite on it! They are starting to look cute!
Okay-- Gotta get to bed-- and dream about packing-- that's a start!:D

Glad to see the board is back in action, I started mini-withdrawal again yesterday!
Went shopping yesterday, found some cute stuff for my DD but "nothing" for Mom. I am having the hardest time finding something lime green for the sailaway meet! If I don't, I'll just have to post a picture or something. If all else fails, I'll just look for you guys.
So many Ginas, how funny!!
I'm semi-packed. I spent about an hour on Saturday getting stuff together in a big pile in my bedroom and hanging clothes together in my closet. I even filled out all the forms in the document package!

Don't worry -- I definitely don't have any lime-green clothes!! :) I'll just have on my glowing lime-green earrings and bracelet, and DS will have his green glow necklace on. If I can figure out what to do with it, I'll have on my lime-green ribbon somewhere on my shirt or maybe in my hair. I wish I had a button maker, so I could make us all buttons! :(
I'm going to get the last of the stuff I need today. Eckerd Drugs ran an awesome coupon for a free $30 Eckerd gift card with any transferred prescription. Free works for me! :D

I mean I couldn't find anything lime green, not even a hair scrunchie! My DD did pick out a new dress for herself and guess what color it is...lime green! Maybe she's psychic becuse I never told her what color DIS uses! LOL!
Oh well, look for the 5'10'' blonde mom with glasses. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Will do! I guess I should mention, then, that I'm only 5' tall, so look down. :)

Hi everyone!!! I just got back to work after the 3 day weekend and wanted to catch up on what has been going on. Boy will I be glad when we get our computer at home fixed. I spent the whole weekend trying clothes on my daughter. All of you with 5/6 yr old girls can understand just how fun that was!!! To make it up to her, I took her to see Beauty and the Beast on the IMAX screen.
That was just what we needed to get even more excited about the cruise. It is all she and I can talk about. I think my husband is ready to throw us overboard!!
I hope everybody can make the DIS meet. My daughter is really looking forward to making some new friends to hang out in the club with.
Remember to look for us in the cruise terminal. Laura will be wearing a lime green shirt with a matching pair of purple and green capri pants (I know that sounds horrible, but they really are cute!!). The only thing I could find was a lime green scrunchi that I will probably wear as a bracelet.
See you all in 11 days!!!!

Wasn't Beauty and The Beast sooo cool?! I'd never seen the original version so it was an extra treat for me. Next year they're doing the Lion King...I think that will be fantastic!
I think my DD has a similar outfit except her t shirt is purple. Did you get it a Target? I love Target! DD got her lime green dress at Target too. Wish they had clothes as cute for adults as they do for kids!

Potty training: Mission accomplished (Thanks for asking)!! I really hope I can get them into the O. Club. I couldn't get onto this site for 2 days for some reason. I finally saw the commercial. It's so cute. No worries here though; I would never be that overwhelmed with such a great trip that I'd want more children. I love the 4 I have and that's all I'm contributing to the world population. I guess one of my biggest fears is that I'm not going to be able to do everything the cruise has to offer. I too like to have an agenda and I have a tentative schedule if the Navigator doesn't change. I guess I'll just have to face it though that everything is not going to be accoplished. Don't worry about naptime for me. I'm going to try to tire my kids until they drop in a chair by the pool so I'm game for Sunday. Keep me posted.-Kathy

Hi all~ Well, I shopped all afternoon for toiletries and such. I found seabands at Walgreens, along with the Bonine. At Walmart I got the fabulous wrinkle remover spray(thank you Gina) Had to try it out right away and it works like a charm! I also found a disposable underwater camera(which I thought I would have a problem finding):) Along with other nameless toiletries. On a whim I stopped at Kohls department store and they happened to have a few holiday dresses left. I got a great dress for formal night for only $20.00.(Bye-Bye tred mill)LOL. Actually the black dress will work out nice because I can pack one less pair of shoes. I also got shirts with little clip on ties for both ds's. Which of course ds #2 happened to break the clip thingy for the tie. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? All in all a very productive day for me:p
KathyV so gald the potty training is finished now your little ones will be in the club with my ds #2.
ssclbc I love Target too! It was on my list today but I didn't make it there. Do they have thier swimsuits out yet? I have decided I want a new suit.
Hey Gina I'm only 5'1"
snwwhite I put my 2 ds's through the clothes trying on a few days ago, Ds #1 was great but my 3yr old! What a trial that was!
The count down continues~ See you all in Sunny Florida:D :D

Luvmy2boyz, don't you just love Kohl's?? They have the best clearances on nice stuff so I'm sure your new dress is great!!
Since we're all giving our heights I am about 5'6" or just under. Dark fluffy (wild) hair that is medium length. My lime green item is just a gift ribbon that is "frou frou" and looks silly but it is all I could find. I will have to have a "squiffy drink" to be convinced to wear it for very long. So I hope I find everyone fast, or I might have to have 2 drinks (what a scary thought)!!
Well, that's all I have for now. Had a long day today...can't believe how close our trip is now!!!

I was just over at Dave's sight and printed out all the Menus. Coconut shrimp, beef tenderloin teriyaki, twin lobster tails! Oh I'm in heaven!! Did I mention white chocolate cheese cake, warm chocolate lava cake and the famous Palo's souffle? Remind me to thank Dave! Now to figure out which night to go to Palo's. I think maybe the Master Chef night. Which meal are you skipping? Well I really am off to bed now. See you all later:) Tracy

I would think that is probably the way that these types of large bookings go, several months in the making. I suppose in rare instances an opportunity might "suddenly" come up to offer a charter.
I'm with Dave, in that I wouldn't want to be on a ship full of sales people, dentists, accountants, etc., etc. I have read posts where these large groups "run" the ship.
I certainly wouldn't want my cruise dates changed either.
It seems that Disney is in a "____ if you do (making paying guests mad) and ____ if you don't" (potentially losing major clients to other lines) situation. I'm glad I'm not the one at Disney trying to make these decisions.
This was on the post about "kicked off the ship." What do you think if they are on OUR cruise?? I guess it would depend a lot on if the people were well behaved and that they don't take over the whole ship. What do YOU think about large (hundreds of people) groups travelling?? If anyone read about the Halloween cruise, that was a horrible week for some, but I think a lot of it is attitude too. However I would be really bummed if I wanted to do something "special" and the "group" had precedence over me as a lowly family cruiser. Don't want to frighten anyone here, but the timeframe given in this post made me cringe a little.

Hmmmm... the stated timeframe does look suspicious. I've got to believe that unless the group is in the majority on the ship (and the ship holds 2400 people!) that it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I cruised as part of a group three times (about 200 people) and I don't remember us getting much special treatment other than once or twice during the week we would have a lounge all to ourselves for 1-2 hours for a party. It was a group from the Domaine Chandon vineyard in California so we had some great parties! Talk about getting "squiffy" on champagne!!I've also been on ships with other groups and haven't found it to be too disruptive. But I've heard horror stories too. Hmmm...
I don't thinks Target has their swimsuits out yet, I wanted to get one for my DD but ended up ordering one from the Disney catalog instead (tinkerbell...it's cute!). Kohl's DOES have swimsuits out, at least the one here in Texas did yesterday.
Oh, I did find a hair scrunchie with some lime green in it (at Kohl's), now I feel better. You guys are making me feel like an amazon though. Oh well, easier to spot that way!

Since we're all giving our stats, I'm just under 5'4" (I used to be almost 5'5"-how sad b/c I'm too young to be shrinking already). I also have somewhat wild dark hair. I want to go for a hair consult on the ship. I'm surprising my girls w/ Minnie dresses. Any suggestions for the boys? I'm bringing Mickey ears but that's about it. Peter Pan and Cpt. Hook are not their favorite but I dont' know if I can find Buzz, etc. PS- I buy the wrinkle releaser at Cosco and don't iron much at all anymore. My husband even takes it on business trips. How fancy is the dress you got at Kohls? My formal dresses are not that fancy. My in-laws brought our luggage w/ them to FA in early Jan (they're retired there) so we didn't have to check luggage w/ the little ones and I didn't pack anything too formal at all (either did DH) . Does this sound ok? I'm glad to see everyone is so excited and I'm not the only who even dreams about the trip. Looking forward to meeting all of you!! Kathy

I have read the trip reports about the Halloween cruise and I hope we do not have to experience anything like that on ours.
The Target in Virginia does have swimsuits out already.
ssclbc - I did get my daughter's outfit from Target. I just love their kid's clothes. My daughter can dress like a million $$$ from there and I don't have to spend a million!!
Since everyone else has shared... I am 5'6" and I have shoulder length auburn hair. Haven't decided what I will be wearing other than my lime green scrunchie on my wrist.
I have to agree with everyone that Kohl's is the best. I bought a ton of sweaters after christmas for only $10 each.
The only item I am still trying to find is a pair of brown sandles. Nobody has any, not even the Department stores. I did find my daughter a cute pair of white sandles to wear to dinner for only $2.00 at walmart.
OK...enough babbling. I have got to focus and get some work done if I want to have a job to come back to!!!
See you guys soon!!!
Good morning, all!!
As far as that "charter" cruise group goes, even if it's our cruise, I'd WAY rather have a bunch of boring old salespeople on board with me than to be on some horrid Aaron Carter cruise!!! I feel soooo sorry for anyone else on that cruise who isn't a 12 year old girl. There's just no way that him and his entourage being on that ship -- and performing! -- won't be a near-constant disruption on that cruise. Bleh.
I have heard so much about Kohl's -- and we are *finally* getting them in our area!! They're opening one right in little ole' Pearland in July! :) And even better, they're also opening another Kohl's in Pasadena, not too far away, right next to a Super Target! Woo-hoo! AND they're opening a Big Lots in Pearland! Between all that and my new Super Walmart that opened a few months ago, I'm soon going to be in discount shopping heaven. :D
Got the last of the last-minute items last night, including the sea-bands just in case either of us need them. I also have Bonine.
For those of us leaving the day before the cruise, we are now doing the Single-Digit Dance!!! WOO-HOO!!!!! :D :D :D

KathyV, you've already sent your luggage to FLA???!!! I'm beyond impressed.
I wouldn't get too worked up over your formal clothes. My dress isn't fancy at all, just a simple long black velvet thing with a fairly wide scoop neck. I'd love to bring my long red one but that's another pair of heels to pack and I'm not sure I can get my backside into it too comfortably anymore! My DH is still debating the tux thing...he owns one so that's not the problem, he just isn't the biggest fan of wearing it. My DD's dress came from, you guessed it, Kohl's.
Snwwhite, you might check landsend.com for sandals (if you meant casual brown sandals). They always seem to have stuff off-season, often on sale! (check the overstocks) That's where I got my swimsuit a few weeks ago (I have to buy them "long" because of my height) along with a nice pair of shorts for $9!
Well, I'd better try to get some work done today!

ssclbc, it sounds as if your dress is very nice.I've reconsidered and I'm packing a gown I wore to a wedding last year. I think I'm going to surprise my husband w/ a rented tux. I know he would never do it on his own and probably won't be thrilled but I would like a nice family photo. If he doesn't know, he can't refuse-right!?! Don't be impressed about my packing. I thought I was organized until I thought of a zillion last minute items that are now in a pile in the corner of my bedroom. Hope everyone has a nice day.-Kathy

Good morning everyone!!
Hope the weather is better wherever you are...it's raining cats and dogs here and it got COLD (for Dallas) overnight. I guess I'll just appreciate the tropical sunshine even more this way.
Are the boards moving in super slow motion for everyone else this morning?
Kathy I like your idea...if he doesn't know he can't say no! I think my DH will relent and pack the tux, it's really his only option since he doesn't have a decent dark suit. The formal pictures really are special. I've got several from several cruises and they're some of my favorite memories. Men just look so good in a tux, why do they dislike them so much?
I'm starting to get nervous about the swimsuit I bought for my DD from the Disney catalog. I ordered it on Monday and it still hasn't shipped. I hope it gets here by next Thursday or it won't do me much good!

HELLO EVERYONE!
I have been trying to get to the DIS for some time now! I am on aol and it's been acting up! I spent 2 days on my cell phone trying to get it fixed and finally today it worked! YEAH!
Poor Ds #2 had the flu yesterday and today-- woke up to screams and throw up all over his bed-- when I was changing the sheets for the 2nd time in one night -- I was thinking how much I am going to enjoy every minute of this cruise-- I think it's a little joke life is playing on me--- having all the problems fall in the same week!
I had to catch up and read 2 pages of notes from everyone!
I was just at Target today-- and I even picked up the cute outfit for DD--- I might just have to go back and get it! I do love Target!
No swimsuits here--- I was looking for swimshoes for Ds#2 and no luck!
Well-- You will be proud-- started packing --everything DD is taking is in a neat little pile and now I am working on my sons-- Even though they are 2 years apart I still dress them alike-- I know they'll hate me when they are older-- but until Ds #1 gives me flack I will continue to do so!--- So that's one way to find me!
Because I still haven't found anything lime green to wear-- and that's odd because it's like one of my favorite colors!
Looks like I am in the 5'6 club but shrinking! And dark shorter hair with fake highlights! Sounds pretty--doesn't it? And I don't go anywhere without lipstick-- okay-- that'll be me!
Great job on Potty training! Are the twins 2? Ds#2 will be 3 in March--- I hope he can go in the OC he hangs with big brother and would be so sad--
Well- I am off to pack some more-- Mil and Fil offered to watch the kids on Saturday so I can shop and get some last min things done-- so I am making a list of everything I need!
Did I tell you my parents are coming with us? We have adjoining rooms-- we always go on vacation with them and they are a big help -- especially at WDW! They are pretty young and can keep up well! So you will also be able to spot me with the italian grandparents! LOL
Bye for now!

How why didn't I think to ask the other Gina if she's also Italian?? LOL!! I'm 100% Sicilian, but also a 3rd-generation Texan. The redneck genes are dominant, I think. ;)

I'm glad to finally hear from everyone today.
g.m.m., My older DS was throwing up yesterday also. My younger twins STILL have an ear infection and are on another round of antibiotics and will be for the start of the cruise. I'm hoping this will help w/ fighting off other colds if possible. I found water shoes at K Mart. I called and they didn't even put them out yet so they got them from the stockroom. I try to dress all of my children alike. That's not easy w/ boys AND girls. This season I'm starting to dress the same sexes alike b/c I feel as though I'm missing out on the adorable girly clothes. Is your DS#2 potty trained? We are bringing my in-laws too. We've been at WDW a couple of times a year w/ them since we've been married. I guess we're all Disney families. By the way, we'll also be the ones w/ the Italian grandparents. They're in their 70's but can keep up w/ the best of them. Not only can our kids play together, perhaps our in-laws can too (hopefully while babysitting so we can get some child-free time-however, I'll wait for them to volunteer). I ordered the tux today-done deal! -Kathy

All these Italians on-board...how great!
I'm not Italian even though my last name sounds like it (Campagna), I'm mostly Polish with some French and German thrown in. My husband is the half Italian one, but you'd never know it from looking at him. Pale and red-headed (not as red as it used to be, he looked like Howdy-doody as a child LOL). I guess he gets it from his Irish mom.
Let's hope the pizza on-board is good!

Just thought I'd let you know... I'm not sure about the 2/2 Magic cruise, but the 2/3 Wonder cruise is an incentive trip for Discovery Toys consultants. There's probably about 200 consultants and their families going. I know there's a private reception onboard and a private BBQ at Castaway Cay for the consultants, but other than that, they'd probably blend very well in with the others. Mostly just moms with families who like to play :) I just joined DT in September, so I didn't even come close to qualifying (it's pretty hard to get that cruise for free - darn!).

thanks bubbasmom for the info. I think a group of Discovery Toys people would be great fun on a cruise, too bad they're not going on ours, and wish you were going with us too!! We have such a great Hakuna Matata bunch going on 2-2!! and a group of 200 would be so easily absorbed on a Disney ship we probably wouldn't even know they were there as a group anyway.
I was just thinking of the Halloween cruise nightmares that people here reported, which I think was kind of a fluky situation anyway. From markmyboy: (my quote feature not working today, had trouble logging into the board as usual)
"before" I went on the cruise there would have been nothing that would have made me reschedule or change dates (short of family tragedy!! of course)....but after the experience we had, having to maneuver around them all week, I would have rescheduled in a heart beat IF I HAD KNOWN!!!
It is not that it was unbearable...it was just not the "same". It was uncomfortable & the "group" of people were rude & just always in a "group"!! "

Hello!
THis is so funny! All the italians--- well mostly-- my hubby is Irish-- I went from a cute Italian name Gina Marie Anntoinette Iarussi -to
Gina Mullin -- Boring! We always tease each other about about our nationality-- He went to U of Notre Dame so for many years I had to put up with fighting Irish----
WOW the discovery Toys group is going on the Wonder-- that's a great incentive trip!
Kathy- so glad to hear your in-laws are coming with you-- my mom was worried that she would be the only one over 50---
We asked my in-laws to come-- but they canceled last month-
Looks like life is playing a joke on you too! The flu and clods are almost gone at our house!
ssclbc- did your swimsuit come in yet-- I saw it in the catalog-- it looks so cute!
Okay- off to the Dry cleaners--- working on Dh's clothes!

Hi everybody!! I am getting more excited by the minute!!!
Neither me or my husband are italian, so it looks like we will be the oddballs in the group. Although, my husband is 1/2 Eugoslavian and people do tend to think he is italian. So maybe we won't stick out too much!!!
It seems life is playing a trick on all of us. My daughter has had strep throat 3 times in the last 6 weeks. Guess who was complaining about her throat hurting this morning. Off to the doctor we go!!
GinaM -- LOL!! I went from Gina Ann Rovello to Gina Peterson -- also boring!! I thought about going back to my maiden name after the divorce, but I didn't want my son to have a different last name.
Snwwhite -- sounds like the universe is playing a mean trick on many of us! Tyler Dean ran a brief fever 2 nights ago, then last night was complaining of his throat kinda hurting. He hasn't run a fever since, and seemed fine this morning, but I'm at a loss what to do. There is *no* way I can miss any work between now and when we leave, and the ped. has banker's hours. I guess I'm just going to watch him, and take him to a medi-clinic (not covered by insurance, of course  ) if he suddenly gets worse. Why does this happen *every* time we go someplace??? Neither of us ever get sick -- we might get a cold once a year, except for when we're going on a big trip. For once, I would love to leave for vacation and not be all stressed out from the start! Bleh!!!
Here's wishing us all good health!!

Count me among those with a sick kid! DD came down with a cold yesterday. Hopefully, she'll be over the worst of it by next week. Then this morning I woke up with that funny little tickle in the back of my throat....hmmm. My secretary has been really sick this week and I've tried to wash my hands or use antibacterial gel every time I touch stuff she touches...we'll see. I almost always get a cold on vacation. Air travel is horrible for getting you sick. So many people, germs from all over, recycled air...yuck.
Yipee, the swimsuit shipped on Wednesday so I should have it in time for the trip! I think I'll hide it and the matching coverup in the suitcase and surprise DD with it on the boat.
DH came back from the drycleaners yesterday with his tux, guess that means he's going to bring it!:D
Only one week until we're on a plane to Orlando

I'm mostly Irish w/ some German, English, French, Native American and not a drop of Italian blood (although I look it and that's why my husband said he was attracted to me- Ha Ha joke's on him). I went from Kloster to Vita DH is 100%. Kids going nuts, me too, gotta go!-Kathy

Hi again--
Home from the doctors -- Ds#2 has an ear infection-- joked to the Dr about him coming along with us-- It couldn't hurt! Hope everyone is gettting better!
If I think about the germs on the airplane-- I would get sick! I try not to think about it-- but there's always someone hacking away on the plane! I can just feel the germs coming my way -- LOL
I can't believe this time next week we will be in Florida! It's 44 degrees here today-- so I am loving it!
Off to pick up pre-schoolers!
Just had to check in and get my fix!

The only Italian I can claim is my mom's next door neighbors when she was young were Italian (Barzizza family in Memphis TN), and they shared all their wonderful recipes with my mom's family, so I grew up eating a lot of Italian food!! I still use my mom's spaghetti recipe and people just rave about it, it's about the only dish I'm good at.
DH is 3/4 German and 1/4 Polish and I am pretty much a "mutt", Scot-Irish-English with a little French and Native American thrown in from way back.
So far we are all in good health here (fingers crossed and taking vitamins!!) and I wish all of you and your families good health for the next week or two at least!! Eat lots of garlic now, that may help!!:D
Okay, I'm tired and relieved. :) I picked TD up after work and he looked kinda flushed. I took his temp when we got home, and it was 99.1. He's like me in that that's a major fever for either of us. :) Knowing that he has a history of having really, really minor outward symptoms while being reeaallly sick on the inside, I made the decision to take him to the urgent-care clinic tonight, figuring it would be a little less crowded than on a Saturday morning. There was only one other family there! We didn't wait more than 10 minutes. A true medical miracle in this day and age. ;)
He was pronounced to have a throat infection, but thankfully his ears looked fine. Before he checked DS out, the doctor said the same thing every doctor has said about Ty, as he bounced happily all over the place -- "Are you sure he's sick??" The one time in his little life that he was suddenly sick enough to actually act sick, he ended up in the hospital for a week.
Anyways, more than y'all cared to hear about, right?? :) He gave us a Rx for Zithromax, which is expensive but really worked wonders last time on his strep throat. That stuff *must* have been invented by a mom -- you only have to give it for 5 days, and it doesn't have to be refrigerated. If it were available in generic, it would be perfect. :)
At least now he's on the road to recovery, and I feel way better. Albeit, poorer. ;)
Lessee... one week from now, I'll be asleep in our room at the Orlando Amerisuites, dreaming Magic dreams... :D :D :D
sorry so long!!

Hi
Gina- so glad to hear you caught whatever bug DS was carring! DS#2 is on the same med-- started it today-- with 1 ts. and only 1/2 ts. for the rest of the 5 days!
I searched the websites today-- and finally found the navigator that everyone has been talking about! Okay-- you are starting to catch on -- I have a few second delay--- DH says it's because I am Italian! LOL
I am running all my erands tomorrow - Mil and Fil will watch the kids--- except DS#2 who wants to come with me--- ugh! Thought I could whip in and out of those stores---- oh well! He's not 100% yet and he is such a MAMA's boy! I say he will be living with me until he's 45 and will be giving him "beer" money! LOL
I am so excited to meet everyone! I was just telling my husband little details--- about everyone-- he thinks it's great!
I want to play the Mate Match-- I think it would be a blast---
Okay-- 1 week until we board that great Big Beautiful ship!

Gina, I hope TD is on the mend now, you did the right thing. My kids were the same way, you could never tell if they were really sick coz they never slowed down. Just think, all these poor sick kids have almost a week to get all better for the trip, it will work out fine.
G.m.m. we will be there to watch you if you do "Match your Mate", you will have a cheering section!! On one post I read it's easier to get picked for the game if you act crazy, can you do that, LOL?
I have to do final packing today and tomorrow, feeling a little anxiety but I have a good plan, like you said, Gina, with the highlighters to show what goes in carryon and what can be packed away, and what goes in both. DH said he's just going to pack swim trunks and a T shirt in his pocket and he's ready to go, what a clown.
Everyone please send good thoughts for one of our teens who is meeting us in Orlando, flying from Detroit. I am hoping we meet up with no flight delays and luggage all accounted for. This was not our original plan but this girl went to live with her mom in Michigan and so now we have to fly separately from her. I got us flight times though within an hour of each other so hoping for the best.
ONLY A WEEK TO GO (or less) (trying out a bouncy) :pinkbounc :bounce: :pinkbounc :bounce:
yes, those pinkbounc ones don't work, what's up with that??
also my daughter has 4 punches left on her tanning card, I think I might go for a tan!! She said I could have them, I wasn't going to tan but someone was telling me when they went on their cruise it really helped them avoid getting burned in February. One of their party didn't "pre-tan" and got really burned even with sunscreen.

Not a drop of Italian here, I am Greek,French Canadian, Indian-and a bunch of other stuff! I do have an olive complexion and people have asked me if I'm Italian. DH is mostly polish and some German,I think.
Target had swim suits!! I picked up a new one, and a new cover-up. I got one of those suits that have the shorts for the bottoms(I am a little hippy ;) ) I love it:) . They also had all thier suntan lotion out so I picked up a couple tubes of Banana Boat.
We are all healthy here~so far. Knock on wood! Hope everyone is feeling better by Cruise time!
DH tanned himself into a rash! It doesn't seem to bother him and he is still tanning.
g.m.m. I'd love to do the match your mate game also, It would be really intersting to see what DH knows about me!! ;)
Northsouth it's suppose to reach 50 today, can you believe it's January in the Midwest! Hey, I'll take it just as long as we don't get penalized in the summer:p
I am trying to get DH organized so he is ready ahead of time but to no avail. My sister had the kids overnight and my Aunt is taking them today so DH just went back to bed! It's 10:30a.m. but too each his own I guess! I know the kids and I will be ready.
Hope everyone is feeling better and have a great day~ Tracy

g.m.m., All those Italian boys are Mama's boys (My husband and son included). I do have to admit though, they treat their mothers right which means they treat their wives right (At least that's what I'm told and it's true in my case). Kids bathing suits are out at Children's Place. _Kathy

Just a quick FYI- Cond'e Nast Traveler Magazine just published a rating of all the cruise ships. The Magic is considered #13 of the large ships (out of 27). It rated high for design and events and actually rated relatively poor for food. I know that won't hold me back. Happy Packing!-Kathy

See www.twopalms.com... Magic should be setting out about now, back in a moment with my scary tanning update, going to watch the cam now...(later) didn't see the Magic I don't think, but I did see a boat of some sort. I have seen Magic before on this Cape Canaveral Cam but it's easy to miss the exact minute she passes. Also I think she may pass farther out to sea now for security reasons.
Did anybody know that Cape Canaveral had the nation's high temp yesterday?? saw it in the paper today as I have been watching the weather page regularly now.
OK who is a tanmeister here?? I haven't purposely tanned in 20 years but I do get a moderate tan in the summer. But in February I'm pretty pale so I go to the tan salon and opt for the ultra standup "bed" since I only have about 3-4 sessions to do. 2 minutes max is recommended according to the chart but I had been told 4 minutes should be OK for a first visit.
So we set the bed for 4 minutes and I get in, put on the goggles, prepare to push the button to start the thing and it starts up on its own!!! Starts getting very hot and loud air is blowing inside, I feel like I'm in a Stephen King story (like "Christine") and this tanner thing is trying to "get" me!!!
I decided not to panic and stood there wondering how do I hold my arms, I can feel my skin getting really hot, imagine how burned up I must be getting, and decided to escape after about 2-1/2 minutes. I pushed the button to turn it off like I was told and it wouldn't shut off!!
Fortunately "it" let me out (LOL) and I got dressed and looked at my face...bright red!!! I don't think I'm really burned very badly but didn't want to chance it. Also they had a sign on the wall that they had just put new bulbs in and to be very careful with your timing. So I'm just glad I didn't stay in the full 4 minutes or I might've been crispy.
So who knows about these things?? I sure don't. But silly me will probably go again, my daughter will laugh at me as usual for freaking out (just wait, you will all have teens some day!! but I think boys are probably nicer to their moms).
So this was my Saturday, haven't buckled down to the packing chores yet but kids are both out of the house so no distractions (yes even older kids still cause a lot of distraction) and it was nice and "warm" here today, in the 40's!!! Took the dogs out for a while, can't imagine 80 degrees right now, I thought today was hot!! It's supposed to get really cold midweek though, boy will I be glad to get on a plane headed south!!
thanks for listening, friends, I know this was really long!!

Hey guys on inaugural 5-11, if you read this....wish I was on your cruise too, and my DH would love it so you could all talk sports all day!!! (good natured poke in the ribs):D :D :D
Sooo... Kendall, my char-broiled friend... should we just look for the lobster at the sailaway party?? J/K!! :D :D Glad you got out when you did -- sounds like those are some *strong* bulbs, and/ora really turbo unit. Every stand-up I've ever been in, was for about 8 minutes each time. Funny y'all should all bring up tanning today -- I'm headed back there right now for the 1st of my 2 power-sessions on the super-turbo beds. It's been about a week since my week of regular-bed tanning to the foundation, and now these 2 sessions should get me pretty good and tan. Wow, I don't care how bad it is for your skin -- I'd forgotten how much thinner you look when you're tan. And I need all the help I can get! LOL!! :D
Kathy -- That rating for food won't hold me back, either! Especially since every time I read the menus I printed out, I go "Ewwwwwww!!!" I'll be happy with pizza and chicken fingers, thankyouverymuch. :)
GinaM -- You will *definitely* have a big cheering section for the "Match Your Mate" game, if y'all do it! It would be so much fun to watch you guys!
Speaking of mates, I was telling my mom about how, for the first time in my life, I am bringing romance novels to read. She was teasing me, saying that attractive, intelligent men aren't going to want to approach a single woman reading romance novels. ;) I told her, "This is is the DISNEY cruise... I'll probably be the only single person on the whole ship!" LOL!! ;) Hmmm.... maybe next time, Carnival.... ;)
Well, gotta go fry myself.... talk to you guys later!

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents worth also . . . I just got back this morning from a business trip to Washington D.C., and came home to find my 3yo DS sick with a cold, with only 5 days before we leave for the cruise!! 3 weeks ago, I announced to the family that there was a new household rule . . . "nobody is allowed to get sick before (or during) the cruise". I guess kids just don't want to listen!! It doesn't seem too serious and he claims that he feels fine. I'm just worried about the rest of us (Me, DW and DD 6mo) catching it too later in the week. What is it about getting sick RIGHT before a vacation????

WOW- I have alot to catch up on--- here it goes~~~
I was out ALL day today getting Last min. things with Ryan (2.11) and a fever -- which ended our trip fast-- Thank goddness for Papa Guy (Italian Grandfather -- who would have guessed-LOL)
He came over so My mom and I could run around together!
So- I am all set on clothes for EVERYONE-- I know y'all (how's that Gina?) are already packed and have your bags sitting on the curb--- but this is the one that catches on slow-- remember?
Soo- now y'all (I like that word) are tanning Queens-- LOL ~~I am going to find a place around here and get some color-- especially since Gina reminded me of a very important point! You look thinner when you are tan! How many times would I have to go to lose 20? LOL
I haven't been tanning since before Rachael-- boy I loved the lay down beds-- such peace-- These stand up beds scare me--- only 4-8 min--- how hot is it in there? And when you are standing up -- do you have to lift any parts of your body that have gone south since having children? I know I would--- (now you guys are really seeing my true colors) HAHA
Kendall- Your poor face-- hope it's better tomorrow!-- Then you can go again! Is it true-- as they get bigger their problems get bigger? Oh -- what will I do-- I am one of those anal moms--- The ones I thought were crazy when I taught 2nd grade! YEP---I became one!-- I'll fill you all in on that on the ship!
The Mate Match game-- I thought everyone could play-- didn't know they picked you! Trust me -- don't put any money on us! The longer we are married-- the less we agree--- because-- us Italians-- are usually right! And we have to have the last word! Or is that just my job as a wife? LOL
Tracy-- A night to yourself-- how awesome! Hope you got alot done! It's amazing how much you can get done without your little helpers! How's DH's rash?
Kathy-- I am not real worried about the food either-- If I don't have to cook it OR serve it-------I WILL LOVE IT!
Gina-- I bet there will be some single Disney Dads-- if not you can always flirt with the crew! A few free drinks wouldn't be sooo bad? J/K Don't worry-- We'll be able to pick out a few available men in 2600 people! LOL
How funny-- someone is reading our notes-- I forget that others can read-- this could get me into trouble girls!
SuperDisneyDad- Glad you joined us! Isn't that the way it always is! A big scare before vacation -- it's only so you can enjoy it more!
Well -- I have said too much --but it was fun! Thanks for chatting-- Talk to y'all tomoorw!

GMM, you are so funny .... "the parts that have gone south" ..... LOLOLOL, I am not showing any of those parts anyway so I don't care if they tan!!! I really couldn't figure out how to stand correctly in there either, besides having panic over the heat of it. The only time I tanned was 20 years ago in a regular bed and I don't remember it being hot. And my face is fine now too, I think I was just too hot in there. Next time I'll do the whole 4 minutes and should be OK.
And don't worry now about the kids growing up, people always told me that too, "little kids little problems, big kids bigger problems" but you just deal with things as they come (just like with little kids) and it's not as scary as it sounds. I work with a lady who has grown children and she STILL worries about them, she says it never ends. Burst my bubble of illusion, that's for sure. Day at a time, that's all you can do.
Quote:
"Kathy-- I am not real worried about the food either-- If I don't have to cook it OR serve it-------I WILL LOVE IT!"
I AGREE!!! (same with cleaning too!!!) My teen daughter says she is going to just eat all week, she is not shy about eating well. She usually cooks for herself since she eats at odd times so I know she will feel the same as we do.
SuperDisneyDad, hope all is well at your house by week's end. I remember reading about one Mom on these boards who had 3 year old twins and kept them home as much as possible for a month before their trip so they wouldn't get sick (kind of a tough job). Well, just think of having a cold as building up immunity!!! And take Vitamin C and zinc lozenges if you feel a cold coming on, really helps!!
Gina, you will be SO tan, and I think a cruise is a great place to read romance novels. My DH never even notices what I'm reading.
Well, I must proudly admit I finished my packing tonight, and I am not one usually to get packed early. So it is really an accomplishment for me. And I weeded through stuff trying to pack light, and it was tough. I think I packed just enough so that maybe I won't have to do laundry (another thing I need a vacation from). And my kids aren't totally packed but they're getting there and I will have to check their stuff too. I have the child who refused to pack shorts for Florida in August if you recall.
well, getting sleepy here, busy day and spent WAAY too much time on these boards today too, at least now I have a good excuse, gathering last minute info!! See y'all SOON!!!
11:30 on a Saturday night, and where am I? Lurking around the cruise board again! Just another Saturday night of wild and reckless abandon... Woo Hoo!! :D
Actually, I did get more stuff done tonight -- finished packing the clothes. I kept putting it off so it would all have less time to wrinkle, but I couldn't wait any longer. ;) Plus, I know that once Monday gets here, it'll be another crazy work week and I need to have most everything done by then. Ooo, I found a lime green headband at Target today! Which brings up a question I keep meaning to ask of you vets -- how windy is it up on deck?? My hair is pretty long, and will be a tangled nightmare if it's terribly windy and I don't have it put up. I'm just wondering if I'll even get wear my headbands at all, or need to pack more scrunchies!
I almost wet myself laughing over the "parts going south" thing. :D That's why the lie-down and stand-up beds work so well in tandem -- when you lie down, parts go east and west... when you stand up, parts go south, but then you can tan the places covered up by the parts when they went east and west. ;) And every man reading this thread has just run screaming in horror. LOL!!
Well, time to go find the bed under the suitcases so I can maybe go to sleep... :)

Super disney Dad, I had to laugh when I read that you told everyone not to get sick. My standard speech before we go away to all the kids is to avoid getting near anyone who is ill. My now 21 yo just rolls her eyes at me[ the little one still listen though heh, heh!]
We will be on the Magic too next Sat [Yipee!!]:D .we have me, Patty 42, hubby Joe 47, MIL-Marie, FIL-Joe, kids-all girls ages 21-Bridget [well, not quite a kid], Shannon age 10- a teenage wannabe!, Jenny age 7, same size as Shannon, I swear she grew like this so she won't get picked on anymore, and Jenna, [a very quiet] 5.
Now if I can just find some lime color something or other to wear. Hope to see you all there!!!:D :D :D :D

I wish I had more time to write like "Y'all" (I don't think I can pull that off- I'm from NJ). I'm not going to tan (I'm a nutcase sometimes about worrying about future health issues). I would love to do it though. I'll be the pale person going crazy w/ all the kids. I am going for a pedicure though in about 1/2 hour. My older son (the one who was throwing up last week) has a fever of over 103. I just hope the other 3 don't get it. Every time we go away, someone or all, gets sick. My babies were all premature so I sheltered them for years from others w/ sicknesses and now their in school, or should I say germ-heaven. They now get all the colds, etc. that they missed ou on when they were smaller. Have a nice Sunday-Kathy
PS I think my 4 yr old DD already acts like a teenager (I'm in huge trouble)

mommyinmd, I didn't know you were on our 2-2 cruise!! I had replied to your St Thomas/St John post yesterday. Your 10 year old may want to meet up with my 12 year old, they may be a good pair. When I booked this cruise 12yo was still a "kid" now she's a "tween" and I was hoping Oceaneers would still enthrall her like it did before. I think they would be in the same Oceaneers group (10-12).
Did you see our meet time Saturday Deck 10 starboard near ESPN lounge area at 445pm (sailaway party time) with tentative 2pm meet Sunday near Goofy pool in case people want to party on Deck 9 during sailaway. These are informal meets, if we wear our lime green stuff I hope we will run into each other anyway if anyone misses a meet.
Gina I like the headband idea!!! I have been letting my hair grow out and it is wild, and yes it is very windy up on Deck 10 especially. Also when I was packing last night my frou frou green ribbon got stuck to some packing tape and got pulled out of shape, there goes 99 cents (still wearable but even more sad looking now)!!! I think I will look for some hair things in lime green today.
P.S. hi KathyV ...we must've been posting about the same time!

Hi Northsouth,
I'm sure Shannon would love to have a buddy she would know in the club. What is your daughter's name, and I'll tell Shannon to watch for her? We are frantically working today on book reports that are due the day she leaves [and the Mon after the cruise ]aaaargh.........
All the kids enjoyed the kids club on our Magic cruise in 2000. It was hard to get them to leave the club once there:bounce: Shannon at this point is begging me to let her write a quick note to your daughter, so I will-
hi! I'm shannon
I hope I see you in the club! I'm really looking forward to meeting
you!See ya soon
Well , I am off soon to check the prices on snorkle vests at Sport's Authority- still undecided on the St John's Snorkle Disney excursion possibilities.....So many choices, so little time !:D :D :D

I'm back from Sport's Authority- no snorkle vests whatsoever-nada! I tried calling the local dive shop where we got our Rx goggles- cheapest vest for adults or kids is 45.00: :(
That pretty much determines that we will do the Disney excursion which includes the snorkle equipment- unless you can rent them very cheaply on St. John's Trunk Bay Beach .I'm a bit disappointed, but at least it makes the decision easier!:( :rolleyes
I am starting to run to get those last minute things that somehow I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT BY NOW!

Patty, we have masks and snorkels but no fins or vests, I know at Castaway Cay they will give you a vest to use free, not sure about fins. I read on the boards that on St John you can rent fins and vests also, separately from mask and snorkel. hope this helps.
Option up your PM feature and I will send you a note (PM is pretty safe).

Back again, phone keeps ringing today...didn't you just love that trip report?? I spent 45 minutes reading it last night, very entertaining. Funny photos and comments, I enjoyed it a lot.
Also today for the first time I saw the DCL "souvenir" commercial, cute!!
GG, still doing last minute stuff so I won't be in a panic this week!!
Okay, everybody take a deep breath.... AAhhhhh.... :) I know we're all panicking over last minute stuff and sick kids, but just think how soon we'll be there and it'll alllll be better. :D :D

northsouth,
I enabled the PM function. I never realized it wasn't on automatically.
I think I'll post a question to see what they would charge for snorkle vests rental. Sports Authority does have fins for kids approx. $17-20. These are nice fins by Bodyglove- they also have cheaper buckle in the back to fit type too.
I wonder if there is a good alternative to snorkle vests. I know I didn't use one when we were in Maui a few years ago. I don't remember any problems without it, but our kids are not good swimmers, so the vests would be a good idea.
Hi Gina,
I hope to make either the Sailaway party or the Sun meet[ more probable].

Good evening!
Well- the suitcases qre upstairs-- however -- my 5, 4 and 2 year old are laying in them playing vacation! Whatever keeps them quiet-- right!
Kathy-How's the toes? I have mine scheduled for Thursday evening-- trying to start my vacation early--- that's my goal to get everything done by then!
How far apart are your twins? I can't imagine 4 kids under 2 or 2 1/2! My sister-in-law- had triplets in Feb last year-- and I have watched and helped her-- and I always walk away amazed how she can do it! I had 3 under 3 at one time--- but it was a piece of cake compared to 3 at once!
You were right gina to take a deep breathe-- I am starting to get nervous-- like not sure if I can do it all--- alittle edgy-- that's why I got back on DIS-- to calm me!
Mommyinmind-- you crack me up! I think you fit in very well! Anyone that posts 3 in a row is our kind of gal! I hope we can all meet up--
I am thinking we will be seeing alot of each other-- at least in the evening hours! What is everyones cabin numbers or deck levels-- just curious to see if anyone is close! I have to look mine up again-- I will post later tonight!
Gina-- The good thing about lay down beds-- is when east and west meet up again the cleavage looks nice and tan! Been there!LOL -
I will check out the site thanks for the address mommyinmind!
What PM stand for? I am so new at this--- also once again -- showing a little slowness--- I am much quicker for I have a few!
Well -- I am going to kick the kids out of the suitcases! It's amazing-- thousands of toys in this house and they are playing with suitcases! Go figure!
Bye

PM is private message just for these boards, very handy if you want to "message" with someone without making the info public for everyone who reads the boards. Such as, maybe you want to keep your room # fairly private, or only let your fellow DIS cruisers know what it is. I don't know, maybe I'm paranoid, but a lot of boards have lurkers so it's good to be kind of safe about things. Do you all think I am paranoid??
anyway, to get to your PM's (I only discovered this a couple of months ago) I go to the main DIS forum page (www.disboards.com) and click "user cp" that is one of the options near the top right, and you will arrive at "my vb home" I think it is. It's like your own private control panel/homebase for these boards, kind of. Gina probably knows a better way to get there (she is a computer pro) , but that is how I do it.
I am not sure about the Sunday meet for myself either (though *at this time* I would probably say I could be there), so maybe those of you who plan on Deck 9 for sailaway may want to plan a Saturday, Sunday or Monday meet that is convenient for you. I'm all for playing things by ear, I have a lot of trouble just keeping up with my own family sometimes, so hate to plan things and then find out I can't go.
Well, eveyone have a good week and don't stress!! This time next Sunday I plan to be sitting in my formal waiting for some delicious food to be served to me, what a thought!!

ROFL!! "computer pro" sounds so much nicer than the"computer dork" that I usually get called!! LOL!! And hey, as far as i know, the way you explained is the only way to get to your user control panel. But once you are set for PM's, you can just go down to "forum jump" at the bottom of most pages and select "private messages" at the top of the list to go straight to your PM box.
I keep repacking things... does anyone else do that?? Decide "no, I want that over there" or whatever. Possibly I'm just strange. ;) I tell you this, I don't see how anyone could pack light for a cruise!! Sheesh, one big suitcase, 2 rolling pilot cases, and a softside attache all for two people -- one of whom is quite small. But it's so different than packing for a WDW trip!! For those trips, all we need are shorts and shirts and underwear and socks, clothes-wise. For the cruise, we need all that, plus all the swim stuff, plus formal clothes, plus in-between clothes for dinner, plus shoes and foundations for all of the above! How on earth do big families do it??? They must have a dozen pieces of luggage!
Someone, please tell me I'm not the only one going through this... I think I'll take my own advice and take a nice deep breath now. Oo! And a Corona. Might as well start the vacation now. ;)

WOW, I think I was just on the board yesterday but do I have some catching up to do!
You guys are all too funny with the all the East, West and South talk. Believe it or not I just bought my first push-up bra last week! At first I wanted to call it the fall out bra because the little buggers kept falling out! But, they must be used to it now because they haven't escaped in a few days. ;)
Welcome mommyinmd, there are lot's of 5 year olds in our group for your dd to play with.
Speaking of panicking, I just noticed they have my ds's name as Alex on all his docs and air tickets. His name is Alexander(I know I told them this, don't know why they shortened it)Do you think this will be a problem?
DH tans red so his rash has finally blended in!LOL I tried tanning once but became claustrophobic and had to get out. I usually don't burn(except that time we were 4 leagues from the equator and I slathered myself in oil!) Yes OIL.
Gina~ I'm not repacking but I do find myself going through the suitcases to make sure I packed this, that and the other thing! I should have made a list up of everything in every suit case and taped it to the front it would save me alot of trouble! Speaking of packing we have a whole suitcase dedicated to shoes~ Yes shoes!! Ds's have 3prs each I have 4 and Dh has 5! (He insisted on bringing his basketball shoes, I tried to tell him to wear them down but apparently they can't touch concrete. What is THAT all about???
I envy those of you going for pedicures, I will polish mine if I remember. But it sure would be nice to have someone polish them for me. Hmm maybe DH would do it for me. :D
Gina I take my Corona with a lime please, no salt:p

At first I wanted to call it the fall out bra because the little buggers kept falling out! But, they must be used to it now because they haven't escaped in a few days. ;)
ROFL again!!!! OMG, the way we all sound now, can you *imagine* what we're all going to sound like once we have a few squiffy drinks in us??? LOL!!!! ;)

Gina, you are not alone!! now that I am supposedly packed I keep rearranging stuff and thinking of little things I can't pack til the last minute. and even though I did pack "light" (for me) we still have 2 large duffles, one hardside (shoes and snorkel gear mostly), one medium size bag, and one carryon *just* for me and DH.
And luvmy2boyz, yes the SHOES are driving me crazy!!! the alex/alexander thing *may* be OK. I know if a name is misspelled it can be a problem but maybe you should call DCL just to be sure. Re: pedicures, I just polished my own nails yesterday, that's enough for me.
I am going to cal DCL today to see if they'll tell me my dining rotation; probably not but I am obsessed with which night to book Palo and I want to know NOW. Obsessive planner strikes again.
And my teen is saying once again that she doesn't need shorts, she will just wear her swimsuit or jeans. She is so hardheaded. At least we are planning to go to RonJon's Friday so if she needs something can maybe get it there. She only has one swimsuit too, I think she needs two, but she wouldn't consider getting a spare when I offered. I am looking at her suitcase now, it is not even half full and she says she is mostly packed.
and since we're having "bra talk" (sorry if any guys are here LOL) I am practicing wearing a strapless bra, told DH it is my training bra coz I am training for the cruise. Feels like it is going to fall off but it doesn't.
well, time to hit my short workweek now, it will be so hard to work this week, I still can't believe we're almost there!!!

WOW, you guys have been busy this weekend!! I usually don't cruise the boards form home because my connection is soooo slow. I sure had alot of catching up to do this morning.
I guess I'll be the tall pale one in the group. No tanning for me. I just turn red and peel. Plus I have total skin cancer phobia.
DD is getting over her cold, DH has come down with it but was looking better this morning. I have avoided it so far...knock on wood.
Not packed yet, still in the pile it all up stage. I did go to Walmart yesterday and get more stuff. And the Tinkerbell swimsuit arrived!! Yippee!!
Also, We got switched to early seating for dinner. I'd just about given up hope, then I got the e-mail from my TA.
I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. I have a feeling this week is not going to be very productive at work. Oh, well, it's a short week anyway.
Just 4 days to go!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
I totally agree about the work thing!! I mean, I just got here, and look where I am?? :D I will be completely useless this week... :)
Well, I guess I'd better try and do some actual work... LOL... talk to y'all later!

Hello Everbody!! Boy, did I have some catching up to do this morning!! So much for working this week. I will probably just spend the whole week on the DIS!!
I took my daughter to the doctor on Friday and had her checked out head to toe. Luckily she is fine. The doctor did give me a prescrition for chewable amoxicillian. Only 7 pills; one for each day of the cruise. After her having strep 3 times in the last 6 weeks, better safe than sorry!!
I have almost finished packing. I made a list of what I still need to take. I did better this year than last year. We are only taking 1 hard sided suitcase, 2 pilot sized cases on wheels, and 1 hanging bag. Not bad for 3 people!!
I plan on tanning every day this week. I agree that the tanner you are the thinner you look...not to mention the way a tan helps hide all of those stretch marks!!
As far as I know we can make both meets. I really can't wait to meet everybody.
I found sunglasses at Kohl's over the weekend with lime green lenses. I know this cruise will probably be the only time I will wear them, but I couldn't resist!!

My goodness everone has been busy writing this weekend. I just put in Tarzan so I could write. Besides, the kids are so excited about the trip that they're bouncing off the walls and need some calming.
g.m.m. The toes looked so good, I had to go and get tips w/ acrylics too! So now not only do I misspell due to lack of proofreading time, it's difficulot to type too.
Gina, I have repacked several times. I think it's a sign of intelligence. I'm trying to pack as few carry-ons as possible b/c DH and I have four hands to be held. I'm a wreck about how we're going to handle a busy airport. Our two sets of twins are 2 years apart (25mos). It can be very very difficult sometimes, especially when it's too cold to go outside and play. When the younger set was born, we hired some help. It was only about 9 hours per week but it gave much needed attention to my older 2. When the younger ones were about a year, I decided to handle all 4 by myself. I have to admit though, the biggest problem is that they are all still so young and individual attention is pretty much nonexistant. Hopefully, they will feel that their situation is so unique and special someday that they will overlook that downfall. It must be great for them to have siblings pretty much the same age. They do get along great. Believe me, I am ready for this trip and don't get the wrong idea about me but I'll be at the bar a lot. Four little ones at home is vey stressful and I plan on relaxing which includes eating, drinking (I prefer Corona Light w/ a lime), and letting the kids eat whatever they want. They can eat healthy the other 51 weeks of the year-whatever makes the cruise easier!
All this bra talk is too funny. See when you're small, no need to worry. Now if I just could get the "twin skin" taken care of I'd be thrilled. I looked into a tummy tuck when I had a hysterectomy in Aug but that surgery was too involved so my GYN wouldn't allow it. Oh well, guess I've got to live w/ it. Boy, I can't believe I'm telling complete strangers about all this. Wonder what the discussions will be like after a few drinks!?!
2 days to go for us!! We leave Wed. Counting down the hours, Kathy

My older DS(who's name btw is Tyler) was up all night throwing up.:( It doesn't really bother me too much, I figure get it out of the way. I am hoping the rest of us don't get sick, or if we have to, make it before Friday.
I did call Disney and they do have to change Alexanders name on the reservation but it isn't too involving. I was worried about the airlines but because he's only 3 he won't have to show any identification. So that crisis is over.
Does anyone know where to get a softsided cooler? I planned on picking up drinks in Florida but I admit I hadn't thought about how to transport them on the ship. So, now I'm thinking I better buy some kind of cooler. I might beable to squeeze it in with ALL the shoes!
I am on Daves sight checking the weather constantly, it is gorgeous in the Carribean right now! We, on the other hand are back to winter, some snow in the forecast. Pray we don't get a blizzard on Friday!
I was hoping Return to Neverland would premier on the ship but it doesn't come out until Feb. 15. We are planning to see Snow Dogs while on the Magic though.
All packed ready to go just counting down the days...
See you all later~ Tracy:D

Hello--
I am laughing-- so many of us have opened up--- It feels like we've known each other forever-- like college roomies taking a vacation! Our Hubby's better watch out! My husband thinks I am nuts to begin with--- and with a few too many -- LOOK OUT!
Kathy-- I'll meet you at the bar-- frequently! Oh yeah-- I will be taking advantage of the night time services for the kids--- including grandparents offers--- so we can actually go out with adults! One night of wipping my oun butt would be great! That was a joke in our house-- I was wipping 4 out of the 5 butts in the house--- and I told Paul-- if it ever changes to 5 out of 5 -- Iam OUTTA here! LOL! Sorry-- had to tell that story!
Luvmy2boyz--- you are so funny with the push up bra! I am thinking by the end of the cruise - your Dh is going to loveyour2boyz too! LOL
Gina-- getting any work done?
Well-- looks like my little ds is doing better-- still whiny--- but Dh is sick and whinner---I can take the little guy--- the big one is harder to help! Does anyone else have that problem?
For the DCL vets-- do you take a purse to dinner -- or a wallet on islands? Not sure how to pack those!
I went to the web site last night that you gave us of the Jan 12 magic cruise---- I spent so long on it! I loved every minute! And did you read at the end -- they could take a cruise for 99.00 in Oct-- Do you think we will be offered the same deal?
I still haven't seen the disney commerial-- I am looking!
OKay-- Kathy have a safe flight and we will see you and yours on Deck 10 at 4:45--- Am I correct?
I can't believe I am saying that!! OH MY __IT"S REALLY THIS WEEK! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Have a good night!

LOLOLOLOL!!!!!! That is TOO funny. :D
Well, I don't have any grandparents to watch Ty, but I'll definitely will be taking advantage of the Oceaneer Club not closing until midnight! Luckily he is quite the nightowl. I told him that he can just play with his friends until he gets sleepy then lie down on a mat there, and he was thrilled to get to stay there. Separation anxiety was never an issue with him. :)
So I'll get to play until I turn back into a pumpkin at midnight! :)
Gina-- getting any work done?
Actually, it did get busy all the sudden, which is great because it made the day go by really fast!

Kathy -- If you get a chance to get back on before you leave, could you tell me what kind of nail tips you had put on?? I was just thinking about that today, but I want tips and not full acrylics, but I'm not sure what to ask for. Do the tips break off really easily??
Okay, I have to try and get some sleep... no need to start the vacation off by being exhausted!
I'll talk to y'all tomorrow!

Here I am early again, kind of in a panic/shock mode not believing we are so close now!!! I am nervous and excited, anyone else??
It will be fun to actually talk to you all soon, if I act nervous and shy (probably just will stand around grinning with a big drink in my hands) that is just me, I can write better than I talk sometimes (spilling guts here) but I do feel like I know you all already, just have to put faces with people; that will be a challenge!!
I did OK at work yesterday, stayed busy enough and I think I am really having trouble believing it is really almost time to go!!
I did go tan again (can't tell anything though), and decided my hair has GOT to have a trim, it is just too wild. My to-do list is pretty manageable now, that is a good feeling. Well, you all, I will check in later, I look forward to these posts every day and will be kind of glad to escape this internet addiction and meet you all in person.

You guys are too funny!! If your built like me bra talk is pointless...can you say flat like Kansas? When I was nursing my DD I STILL wasn't even an A cup!! Now my backside is an entirely different matter. I believe I was built upside-down and backwards.
I can't believe that in 72 hours I will be at DFW ready to get on a plane to Florida!! We're counting hours now!!
luvmy2boys: check Walmart for a softsided cooler. I found one that holds 24 cans and it was about $10. They were much more expensive at Target.
But, did you guys see that the porters are no longer accepting boxes of beverages as luggage? Bummer! Supposedly you can still bring stuff on but it can't be as obvious as a bunch of 12 packs taped together unless you carry it on yourself. Now where am I going to hide my beer and wine?! Do I have to bring a separate "party supply" suitcase?
See you all soon!

I can't wait to meet all of you in person. I too may be shy at first, but give me time. It is alot easier to open up on the computer than in person.
I am hoping that Laura will take to the kids club better than she did last year. She is very friendly, but gets overwhelmed in large groups of kids, especially if she doesn't know anyone. That is one reason I am glad we have so many kids around the same age. They can meet each other at the sailaway party and then be more comfortable going to the clubs b/c they already know someone.
Sorry for the babbling, but I am so excited I can't stand it. I think my coworkers are tired of hearing me talk about the cruise. I am so glad to have fellow cruisers to share my excitement with.
I am testing an new computer program at work today and there are alot of steps where i have to do something and then wait an hour to see if it worked. Do you think I am doing other work during those times?? NO!!! I am spending all of my time here LOL.
See you guys in 4 days!!!!
PS.... it is going to be 74 here in Richmond, VA today. YEAH !!!

This will probaby be my last post but I will try to at least read up a little tonight. I will try to be on deck 10 at 4:45 (depending on the Goofy Pool area party). If not, did anyone come up w/ an alternate meet? Sunday 2:00 if I recall by Goofy Pool??
Gina- Tips and acrylics are just what you would imagine. They glue tips to your own nails and then put a layer of acrylic on them to make them hard. If you go this route, you should keep up w/ them every 2 weeks w/ "fill-ins." In my area, it's about $40 for the initial tips and acrylics and then $20 every 2 weeks for the maintenance. Good luck!
Well, I got DS2 haircut this morning and DS1 this afternoon (That way there is only 2 to watch in the barber shop at once). Baths and promised toe polish on the girls and they are good to go. We practiced a tea party for the much anticipated one w/ Wendy and DD1 decided she hates tea. She wants milk at her tea party. I hope they have enough for our family. We go through a gallon per day.
I'm off to pick up the older ones from school and drop off the younger two. By the way, that "LoveYour2Boyz" joke- hysterical!!
Have a safe trip everyone and I'll see you on the ship!! Wow, I love saying that!! -Kathy (The one w/ bags under her eyes due to lack of sleep from excitement)

Be safe KathyV, see you Saturday!!
Snwhite: good idea for people to just drop by at 4:45 even if they want to go down to deck 9. Once we all see each other it'll be easier to catch up later on.
northsouth: did you call DCL about your dining rotation? Did they tell you? I've gotten so obsessive over Palo ressies that I've written down all the possible rotations, then figured out which days I want brunch and dinner for each possibility so that I don't freak when I'm in line. Now if I can only remember to bring that piece of paper with me!
g.m.m.: I usually don't bring a purse to dinner with me. I just make DH carry the key. As for going on the islands, sometimes I bring a tote bag with stuff in it or have DH wear a "fanny pack" , (which is really funny because he has NO fanny!).
Not going to get a manicure or pedicure but I was thinking about waxing my legs. Then I wouldn't have to shave on the trip. I did it once and it didn't hurt too bad. Probably need a glass of wine first!
Speaking of wine...is anyone else up for the wine tasting? It's like $12 and sounds like fun.
Yeah, back to work (for awhile anyway).

I was seriously thinking about doing that, but haven't made up my mind if I want to spend the $$ yet. It's so pathetic -- I think of everything in terms of pin-costs. Like, the wine-tasting would be fun, but $12 will buy me a couple of regular pins or one special one. How sad is that?? Oh well. It's a disease. ;)
I think I'm panicking now... it's dawning on me how many little last-minute things I still have to do... I couldn't fall asleep last night, because I just couldn't turn my brain off. I kept checking off lists in my head. Anyone else going through that??
At the same time, I'm excited beyond all reason. :) "Only 3 more sleeps!!" as Tyler Dean says. :)

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one dreaming of packing, traveling, etc. I was awake alot (DH snoring like a buzz saw thanks to his cold wasn't helping either).
I've got Thursday afternoon off, so I keep saying to myself "oh I'll just do it Thursday". That list is getting a bit unmanagable. Better start sooner.
Oh come on, do the wine tasting!! We can all get a little squiffy then go sit in the hot tub. :D
I really hope my DD likes the clubs. I want a little vacation time and I know my DH needs a break too. He's a stay-at-home-dad and some time off from chasing DD is really needed.
I'm excited because I got in touch with an old friend who lives in Melbourne and we're getting together for dinner on Friday. Then it's CRUISE TIME!!!

Okay-- I have one suitcase packed-- only like 10 more to go!
I ran to Walmart today to get things for the kids to do on the plane--- I want to start my vacation off without fighting! Although -they do get along pretty well-- they have all been sick and cranky----
I can't wait until Saturday! I can hardly believe it's so close! It is going to be soo cool to meet everyone--- I keep seeing it in my head--- funny-- I bet no one looks like I picture!
I am nervous too! I want to go to Palo's and have a spa hour (or 2)--but I am a wreck about the ressies--- We'll be tripping over each other to get in line--- and then meet at 4:45! LOL
I am a very scheduled person-- all my WDW trips are planned to the tee--- this is KILLING me!
Gina- I love how you quote everything-- I try so hard to do it and it keeps messing up---- you'll have to give me some pointers at the Internet Cafe-- actually --it'll be great to get away from the computer for awhile! Although I would like to e-mail Mil every now and then to let her know what she is missing-- still can't believed they backed out! Oh well!
My parents are so excited about 24 hour room service! That is their favorite part of vacation-- having room service at night-- and they about died when I told them it was 24 hours and FREE! LOL
Well - I haven't made it tanning-- so no one look at my legs until Thursday-- they should have color by then!
I am off to pack somemore------ I am getting butterflies--yikes!
I'll check back tonight--- I want to be a DIS VET -- only 58 more posts!LOL
 Just thought this looked like he went to the wine tasting event!
Where and when! Just let me know!

Hello again Girls!
I have 3 suitcases packed-FULL and still more to go! It's a good thing I started when I did or I would be sleeping on the cruise instead of drinking! Speaking of which... In honor of our new friendships-- I had a hard lemonade while I packed-- thought it would get me more in the mood!
Thanks for the advice on the purse-- I don't like carrying anything extra-- so a tiny wallet might be great for the diaper bag! And then I'll just shove everything else I need in Dh's fanny pack---
The kids are going nuts! Although Rachael is missing her first father-daughter dance at school this weekend-- I guess some kids were talking about it and at bedtime she had a meltdown and cried hard --- Dh said they would get dressed up and do something special--- Talk about guilt--- It is just starting ---- I know she'll completely forget about it while we are gone---but Mommy won't!
I just told the kis about all the other children we are going to know on the cruise-- their little eyes bugged out-- they were jumping up and down-- Rachael and Paulie are only 13 months apart-- so they have never been shy or afraid to go anywhere because they have always had each other-- But when they get to play with someone their own age and gender----they LOVE it!
DS #2 (Ryan) -- is feeling better-- he was smiling and giving his brother a hard time today-- always a good sign-- right?
Well-- off to pack one more tonight-
Talk to y'all tomorrow (how'd I do Gina?)
g.m.m.

Back again-- must be that lemonade!
ssclbc- so glad to hear about your early seating-- I thought everyong else would be at the later one-- I would love to know the dinning rotation-- plan, plan, plan
and the suit came in!! Is it adoreable? Are you waiting until the cruise-- I have a hard time waiting-- I just get too excited!
Okay-- see everyone soon!!
Me on deck 10!~
LOL!!! Girl, you are on a roll tonight! :D GMTA -- you and your Hard Lemonade/packing combination, and me and my ZiegenBock/packing combo. :D Hey, gotta practice, right?? LOL
I'm thinking of just chartering a flatbed truck at this point to haul the luggage... thank goodness they're all on wheels, but TD can only haul one and the rest is left to pack-mule Mommy. ;)
Hey, I went ahead and got my nails done tonight! They did a fabulous job -- they're really thin and look really natural, and they're just how I wanted them. And I had them painted this really pretty tropical kinda-hibuscus color. Of course, then I painted my toenails myself, and it looks like I let the dog paint them. I guess thinner women can paint their toenails without taking a deep breath, throwing themselves toward their feet, and trying to slap some polish on right before passing out. ;)
Oh man, how on earth am I going to get ANY sleep the next few nights??? I just can't wait to get there, and I can't wait to meet all you guys! Of course, if y'all make fun of the way I type, you're really gonna make fun of the way I talk. ;)

ssclbc and gmm, I did call about dining rotation and of course the DCL person couldn't/wouldn't tell me, but told me in great detail a lot of stuff I already knew. Like, "look at the bottom of your card they give you at checkin and there will be some letters, that is your dining rotation." She was so friendly and wanted to help so much so I just played along, then popped my next question "if you have Animators Palate on formal night such as Sunday, is the light show on your next visit to AP, or always on the first AP night?" (found this out from a post I read, and don't know if it is true, wasn't totally clear on the post I read).
Well, she tried to help but never really could answer my question (something about Silly Symphony on Sunday at AP, and I don't know what that means except it's the old cartoons that I like, I don't suppose they would show SuperBowl instead, LOL). Guess I'll just have to go with the flow, and try for Palo Tuesday or Wednesday depending on rotation. Fingers crossed for PLAPLAP, which is what I want.
well I found a nice lime(?) green shirt to wear now, and a scarf/tie thing that matches, so the frou frou ribbon may not get seen. As Martha Stewart would say, "that's a good thing".
gmm, my DD 12 is missing 2 activities also, but not anything as special as a father/daughter dance. She griped a little, but seems OK with a cruise instead (I would hope so) but I know what you mean about the guilt. Things just never can be perfect it seems.
Gina, "3 sleeps" that is so cute!!
snwwhite, 74 degrees!! We hardly made it above 20 today, with snow and sleet for 2 days; I am really looking forward to some warmth.
I am just beat tonight, DD 16 has a cold, I told her to stay away from me (she's not very careful where she sneezes) and I better get some rest so I'm not susceptible (sp?).
I'll check in tomorrow....

Hi everyone,
Today is the big packing day.I am much relieved that no snow is in the forcast. In fact it felt like Fl in md here yesterday about 60+ degrees. The kids are SO excited[ and we got all that pesky school work done]!!I still need to find something lime green- maybe some ribbon from Joannes......
I delayed so much booking the shore excursions that they had closed them [1 week prior]. I wonder what time the shore excursion desk opens.I even asked the lady I spoke with if I could talk to the person at the shore excursion desk- duh- she then says sorry , but they are currrently out on the cruise- boy did I feel stupid!
I hope everyone has a safe and easy flight- good luck especially to Kathy with all those little hands to hold!I will try my best to make the Sun meet. I think the Sat sailaway might be iffy with my group. We have my inlaws traveling with us too.
You can see our halloween web page[ yes, I'm a halloween nut!!]- a couple of pixs of the kids posted there- you'll probably recognize them when you see them in the club .Jenny is the first and Shannon the second on the page a couple pages later I think is Jenna.

Well, I got to packing last night too (wine was my beverage of choice!). One gigantic suitcase is already filled and two carry-ons are pretty much full...and DH has not yet started to pack his stuff ( I don't mess with it!).
The tinkerbell suit and coverup are packed so I'm not tempted to show them to DD and she's less likely to find them. I hope it's warm enough Sat. afternoon to use the pools a little (anyone know if they're heated?). Gotta relax after the mad dash to get Palo and spa ressies.
I think the wine tasting is on one of the first two sea days. I think it's a good idea to sign up ahead of time but not nearly as much of a big rush as Palo/spa. We can chat/plan on Saturday!
It's rainy and getting cold here...sunny Florida sounds better and better all the time.

ssclbc, about the pools, we went on the Wonder in August 2000, and this was my experience (disclaimer: may not be accurate for all sailings). I took a dip in the Goofy pool and it was like bathwater, even though the ship TV said water temp was 84F, that is not bathwater temp, it was quite a bit warmer than that I thought. Just my experience, not refreshing at all but that was my only dip. In February it may be different, I don't know. But it sure felt heated then.
mommyinmd, thanks for the pics!! We'll look for you and your girls. Creative halloween crafts, I'm impressed!!
I am off work now til after the cruise, having a Michelob but looking forward to having a margarita or a Bock beer SOON!!

Hi All~ Dh is washing and packing and very edgy! Hey, I'm totally relaxed, I've been packed for a few days now. Just some last minute whites to wash tomorrow and pack. Ds will be in school all day so I should get the last minute stuff done no sweat!
Had a bad day here today, our pet bunny Hopper died.:( Sunday I transfered her to a differant cage and completely cleaned out hers and she wasn't the same since. She wouldn't eat or go potty and today when I got home she was curled up and breathing really hard. I called the vet but they couldn't get her in and about 40 min. later she died. Tyler took it pretty hard, so did I, but I don't think Alexander really new what was happening. DH and kids buried her in the back yard.
We are supposed to get some huge winter storm here tonight and tomorrow. It hasn't started snowing yet, I wish it would just get on with it so it's all over by Friday. I don't want to be snowed in!!
I have a soft sided cooler and managed to cram it in with the shoes. I had to actually lay on the suit case to get it closed!
Did anyone read Petes 1/28 update? He worked out a deal with a local jewler in St. Thomas to print a coupon for people from the dis board for a free pair of tanzanite or emerald earrings. Just print out his report until he gets the coupon finished.
I hope everyone has a good night I am off to attempt to paint my toenails.

luvmy2boyz-- So sorry to hear about your bunny! Such a hard time for a family---- My dog has been gone ten years-- but I still talk about him--- YOu buried him in the back yard -- how sweet!
How can I get to Pete's website?

I hope it all gets over with quick!! We're getting the same front down here, but as usual we're getting severe weather instead of snow. But it's supposed to blow through pretty quickly and be clear Friday, which is all I care about! :)

I saw that!! Isn't that cool?? I printed out the report. I love tanzanite!
Please tell me someone else will still be around tomorrow to talk to... it's my last day at work, and I'll be dying of excitement!!! Gotta be able to share it with someone who cares! LOL!! :D

OK so I haven't gotten to the nails yet~ I was over at Dave's sight checking out the weather. 80's and sunny on Friday! Yippee!! Thank you both for the sympathy, I have a raging headache from all the crying.
g.m. m. Pete is the webmaster on this sight if you go to the top where all the webmaster posts are you will see his post on with the 1/28 update.
Gina, I am not flying out until friday so I will be here tomorrow. Probably so excited I won't be able to type!! How's the typing with those cool new nails? I tried nails once (your probably thinking what's wrong with her she tried tanning once, nails once)I can't help it I'm not a real woman!LOL I could not function with the nails on! Couldn't get my contacts out of my eyes or type, and my ds hit me in the thumb and I thought he ripped my nail right off it hurt so bad! I do envy you though:)
Ok so now I'm really going to paint my toes;) Maybe...
Dh just came in here to tell me he is packing 9 pairs of shorts!! I am packing 3. He also called me at work today to ask me if I was taking 1 or 2 pairs of jeans! I am taking none! How long does he think we will be gone for???

So sad about the bunny, I'm so sorry to hear that news!!
Well, we are leaving tomorrow, hope all that snowy stuff doesn't delay us but from here we will probably fly right over it. Maybe I better keep bonine handy for turbulence!! I am more concerned about our lone traveller flying out of Michigan, her flight is scheduled to come in before ours to Orlando and it is pretty snowy in Michigan with this storm system, so I hope she's not too delayed (a little delayed would be OK if it brings her in the same time as us). Everyone please send good thoughts/prayers for us to meet up with her with no problems.
That is my headache du jour, otherwise I am strangely calm, wondering if it is controlled hysteria, or because I was so organized this time (first time ever), I actually have everything done except my last-minute to-do list.
My teen who was making fun of the stuff I was bringing is now saying "Mom, are you bringing extra film?? mom, are you bringing sunscreen?" etc. I told her I don't want her making fun of me anymore for having an extra bag o'stuff.
gmm, I know they will do something special for a birthday, just let them know (probably your dining room servers).
Gina, I may post tomorrow morning but then I'm on my way!!! See you all at sailaway I hope!!
Kendall, if I don't talk to you in the morning, I hope you have a very safe trip -- and the other part of your party, too -- and I'm looking so forward to seeing you at the sailaway party!!!
Everyone else, I'll talk to you tomorrow! :)

gmm,
The last Disney cruise we went in March. 3 of our girls have March bdays and we told them at some point. One night after dinner and dessert, they brought 3 individual small bday cakes to the table- maybe a candle in each one[?]The lttle one ,Jenna, had just turned 4 and pretty much wore hers. We took lots of pixs. Just let your server know about the bday the first night.
luvmy2boyz-- So sorry about the bunny. It's a very tough lesson of life for the kids- hard to watch them be so sad, I know.We are leaving a very old ,sick with cancer, English Springer at home with a house sitter. I 'm hoping he is still here when we return.
Today is going to be hectic and I may not have another chance to post. Good luck to all traveling and see you all very very soon !!!:bounce: Patty

That is so sad about the bunny. It's amazing how attached you get to pets. I had to put my cat to sleep last July. I'd had her for 15 years and I cried like a baby for days. At Christmas I found her stocking when I was putting all the other ones up, and cried like a baby again.
Only a half day of work today...then home to do all the last minute stuff like leg waxing, toe nail painting, plant watering, FINISH packing!!!
It's cold and rainy here. Supposed to get down to 27 tonight. I hope the roads don't become covered in ice, it would not make for a fun drive to the airport!
I may check in a little later today, but if not, see you all (y'all, hey I do live in Texas!) on Saturday, deck 10 starboard at 4:45 (right?)

luvmy2boyz - I am so sorry to hear about your bunny.
I will be here today and tomorrow. We don't fly out until Saturday morning. Delta has just started flying out of the airport we are using. In fact Saturday will only be their 2nd day flying out of this airport. Everyone please pray for us that there are no problems!!
I went to the Disney store yesterday and found the perfect shirt to wear. It is lime green with 3 sparkely (sp?) Mickey sillhouettes in the middle. So if you see that shirt that will probably be me. I can't wait to meet all of you!! My husband and I have both decided not to drink this cruise. I guess I will just have to order them virgin and pretend!!LOL!!
Today I go for my pre-cruise beauty treatments: Manicure, pedicure, lip and eyebrow wax (OUCH!!!!). If men only knew what we went through!!
OK..back to work!!!
Good morning, you guys!! I'm sitting here at work, trying valiantly to actually work, but it's sooooooo hard... I'm so ready to go!! I still have a lot of last-minute things to do tonight at home. I just keep wondering what planning detail I've forgotten, what question I forgot to ask... Oh well! :)
I'll check in again later...

What a cute sounding shirt!! I'll be looking for it! But could you maybe tell me your name so I won't be asking strangers if they're Snow White? ;)
Have fun with all your waxing! LOL! And men don't have a clue...

Gina - I guess knowing my name would help!!! My name is Karen, my daughter is Laura, and my husband is David.
I am not going to be able to remember anyone's name. I am just going to look for lime green and ask if they post on the DIS. I may get a few weird looks if someone is wearing lime green and they don't know about this website!!!

Hello Everyone~ Busy day running around taking care of last minute details. About 6 inches of snow here but it looks like it's all done for now. Just finished printing out map and driving directions from airport, it looks like a pretty easy drive:)
Checked out Disney sight, looks like we will not be sailing with a full ship:) Plenty of catigories left. 6, and 8-11 all have rooms available:D
I am patiently waiting for bed time!! Even though I didn't sleep a wink last night and probably won't tonight! I have butterflies I am so excited. I can't wait to meet all of you. I probably won't be able to make the meet on Sat. But I don't see why I wouldn't make the Sun. one.
I am now off to verify my airline flights for the 3rd time this week. I am praying everyone has a safe trip down and I will see you all on the Magic in 48 hours!!!:D :D :D
I guess this'll be my last post!! It's almost kinda sad to end this fun thread we've had, but I'm also so happy to finally meet you guys!! :) Luvmy2boyz, I hope you can maybe dash up to deck 10 for a minute or two. If not, I hope we run into each other on the ship somewhere!
I hope everyone's travels go smoothly and safely. We'll see you Saturday!!!!! :D :D :D

I bet they do and you know how--- we'll have to try it! I suck at dancing-- but Dh is good and he could go all night long--- that's the story of his life! LOLOL
Can you say "double ear infection?" Yes-- that's what Ryan has! Poor guy- i just knew something was wrong with him-- you know how you can just sense something! I am lucky to have a great Doctor---who I see very often-- with 3 little ones!
Well- I had to unwrap all Rachael's presents for her birthday in order to fly without a problem-- another reminder of 9-11--
Well --I can't wait to meet all of you and your wonderful kids on Saturday! What a blast we are going to have!
Happy trails!
