I read that if you purchase through Disney they will send you a tote bag for becoming a member. If you purchase resale will they also send you a tote bag once you are in the system?

I did get a tote bag with my paperwork and welcome package from disney
last month on a direct purchase.

Yes, Disney sends you paperwork in the totebag. The CM that I dealt with said it's the most expensive totebag we will ever buy!!! I am not sure if you would get it through a resale though...would you like mine? :)

No, you don't normally get one on resale. I did get one on my last add on. I think the guide figured out I had added on as much as an initial contract! LOL!

Actually we got a backpack with our initial purchase and the tote bag with our add-on. Gave the tote bag to my mother.

If you purchase a resale, the original member got the tote bag or whatever they were giving out at that time. If you want one, you need to contact the member who first sold the points and get it from them. Or buy one off ebay.

We also got them on the Members Cruise in '05! At peak, I had 5 of them! They're nice, hold a lot...sorry I don't have any left. We didn't get one for resale, I was surprised. We bought 2 resale add ons, and nothing special came from DVC with those except the deed.

No. In the case of a resale, the original purchaser of the contract got the totebag or backpack or whatever the "thank you" gift was at the time they purchased. They also got the box of DVC info that Disney sends out to those who purchase directly through them. You get neither of those things when you purchase resale because you aren't paying any money to Disney -- your deal is with the prior owner.

But the good news is, when you add on Disney does send you something. I don't know if there is a minimum add-on to get a tote bag or if they send them out even for even the smallest (25 point) add-ons.

We just got a tote bag with a 25 point add on at BWV. Nice bag (but my DH will tell you I never saw a bag I didn't like)! -- Suzanne

Kind'a like the most expensive "free" vacation I ever won. I won a trip to WDW through work and ended up buying DVC from that trip!

I saw a nice DVC tote bag at the Screen Door store at BWV when I was there in October. Mine is wearing out after over a dozen DVC trips.

It's a very large tote. I'm planning to add velcro to mine in order for it to close, then it will become my carry-on.

The one I got zips. Its huge and I use it for my overnight bag when we drive down there. Since we split our contract into 2 contracts they sent me 2. I love them!

I just got a tote for a 25 BWV add on too.

When I first purchased last year they sent out the paperwork with a tote , and when I sent the paperwork in they had to redo it and sent me a new pack of paperwork and another tote.

Gave first one to Mom and second one to Sister and I'm keeping this one!

Got one with my 25 point add on. Its pretty big, though! Wish mine zipped closed.....I like the idea of adding velcro to keep it closed

I got 3. I added on 130 points for BWV and the guide broke it down so that I would get them faster and I got a 50 point contract right away, then a 30 points contract a month later, then another 50 point contract a month after that. I got a tote bag with each package.

The OP asked about getting the tote if purchasing resale. No...this is a gift from Disney for buying direct. However, if you purchase resale from The TimeShare Store you get a basket of nice gifts, I understand. This is a multi-thousand dollar purchase...don't make the decision based on which seller offers a tote bag. It's a nice bag and all, but... :rotfl:

Lets not forget the DVC "Home" Resort Lithograpy...along with a tote/backpack given out.. through a Disney sale!!:thumbsup2I wish you could buy them from Disney for those of us who purchased via the resale market. I got a nice one of VWL when I bought an add-on directly from Disney but I don't have one of BWV since that was a resale purchase.

I saw one for sale on ebay several months ago but another DISer was bidding on it so I didn't feel right jumping in. I was happy to see the DIS board member won the auction. Haven't seen one pop up on ebay since then.

HEY , whats this ? I never heard of this , never mind receive one. Maybe I'll get one after my second add on :-)I read here on the boards quite a while ago that Disney ran out of the BWV lithographs. I check ebay every so often to see if anybody is selling one, but haven't seen one up for auction for the past few months.

We purchased a resale from TTS. We did receive a letter from TTS to stop buy for a gift. Since we fly to Florida and use ME we have no way
to get to TTS. Wish they would mail the gift. Especially since we spent
a fair amount of cash with TTS. Think that would be the right thing to do.

It's a fairly large basket filled with bath type items..very nice. Can't see them shipping it.

While I agree about the "spending a fair amount of cash with TTS" remember that most of that goes to the seller.

I thought I was the only crazy one that did this! Won a trip from Alamo in 2005 and purchased a resale contract before we left on our trip. Everyone had so much fun, we added on a few months later.:rotfl:

We only received the tote with the add-on directly through Disney.

If they had to ship it, I expect it would be a much a smaller basket and not nearly so nice! The gift basket is a great incentive to get TTS' clients to stop by and meet the staff. I appreciated meeting the folks who helped us find the right contract and become DVC members. And the items in the basket were just the thing to make our first DVC stay even more relaxing.

I also agree, and couldn't have said it better!

What is the Lithography? I just bought SSR via Disney and got the tote bag -but I didn't see anything else. I haven't closed officially- my deposit is down- and we are set to finalize on Jan.13

TenThousandVolts et all....

I'll take a photo of it this week and post it here for you to see. I have 3 of them. 1 for original purchase + 2 for add ons in '05.

I'm sure if they are still doing it...you would have had one. Maybe they aren't doing this anymore...sorry.

Things change...Ya know... like the OKW people who, for many years, "used to get" FREE park passes for thier entire stay:faint:

Now...that was a PERK ! :rolleyes1

I agree with you on this one. We are in the same boat. I thought it would be cool if they knew when your first trip home was and sent baloons or a card or something to your resort. Hard for them to know, but still a nice idea

So I purchased resale, so no tote bag for me. I'll have to make a point to stop by the TSS to pick up my basket of goodies and meet everyone who helped with my purchase. I'll have to wait until 2008 when we use our pts for the first time and we'll probably rent a car during this trip.

I was thinking that the TSS store should delivery the gift baskets to the resorts of the people who bought, on their first trip. They could request you contact them when you make your trip and have the gift basket delivered. That would be nice!

When we go, we don't rent a car, so looks like I will never see this GREAT gift basket everyone is talking about. Well I will read the emails and dream of it:)

if you go the town car route...they make 1 stop for you. TSS is right next to the Publix...so you could do 2 things with 1 stop. that's what we did and it worked really well. much easier than using ME...and we never rent a car either.

weren't you talking about doing a trip in December? we are going the 18-26. if you are going at the same time...I'd be happy to pick it up for you and you could get it from VWL

We missed the deadline to call today to make our reservation, they were not open after I got home from work. So I will call to make the 11 mo. window reservation tomorrow!

You are VERY thoughtful! I have a cousin that lives there, and I am sure he will visit us during our trip - maybe I can charm him into taking me there :)
