The guide books says it takes a long time to use the bus system at FW. We are renting a golf cart and wonder how long it takes from the actaul Bus stop to the parks? Do we save time by using the golf cart? Or should we just drive?

If you catch the connections it is faster to use the bus, if you just miss the bus it is faster to drive. In other words there really is no one answer for everyone. Getting to MK it is easier to use the launch from the FW dock. Just keep in mind if you drive, you will almost always also have to take a tram in from the parking lot. If you plan on going back to the campground during the day the bus may be nicer because it will be cool and airconditioned. If you are park hopping Disney transport is the way to go.

We like to drive to most of the parks in the afternoon. SOmetimes you can get a good parking space. The only park we would not drive to is MK.

i gotta say that we have turned into anti-bus snobs. from FW, if going to MK or any of the other Lake area resorts, we take boats. However to any other location at WDW we prefer our own car. We hate WDW busses.

we even tried to give it one last shot on our most recent visit this Aug/Sept. after one day of frustrations, we called Enterprise and booked a car for the remainder of our stay.

We bring our own golf cart & use the bus & boat for everything! Once we park our car it is parked! Our girls love taking the buses! We never had to wait more than 5-10 min for a bus in FW. I guess it was good timing..lol!

On our last night there in Dec I forgot to pick something up in MGM we left our cabin at 4:15 & were back in the cabin by 5:10 if that gives you an idea!

I don't like fighting traffic so except for resort hopping to do an event meal I'll bus or take a launch.

We only take a bus to pleasure island. That way when we get to go home we are responible and dont kill any one.

thanks for the advice. I think we will try the bus system and then if it is too slow.....we will just drive. I really like the idea of not having to drive anywhere!!!!
We leave on friday.!!!!!

Also on this topic, our first time to campground next August.
1) How often to the boats go to MK and lake hotels?
2) How late do they run?

Thanks

they run pretty much every 15 minutes or so until 12:30am or so. When the MK has late hours they run later

Do you still need to pay the $10 park fee if you stay in FW but drive yourself?

You will get a parking pass for your vehicle when you check in to FW just like any other resort. Parking is free.
