Am going for 3 nights the last week in March, and hope to get a reservation at a DL Hotel. Traveling with a 4 and 7 year old, so am interested in characters, "cool" pool, etc. Which hotel should I shoot for?
They all have their advantages but it is hard to beat the Disneyland Hotel for the pool and Goofy's Kitchen. You can use the facilities at the other DL hotels. We have stayed at the Disneyland Pacific, now called the Paradise Pier, with a wonderful view of the DCA. Perfectly nice place, a very short stroll to the Disneyland Hotel.

The Disneyland Hotel pool is great. Last May when we stayed at the Disneyland Pacific (now the Paradise Pier) you could visit the Neverland Pool. It is a little less expensive and you can still use all of the Disneyland Hotel facilities.
The Grand Californian Hotel is beautiful with a nice pool also. There were only about 10 kids in the pool this past Sunday morning. My kids really enjoyed the water slide.
Whichever resort you pick, you will have a fantastic time.

Being that the Grand Californian is brand spanking new it would get my vote. You can easily walk to the DL hotel for the character meal. The GC slide is pretty nice too, 100' long.
