I will be running the Goofy this upcoming weekend and staying at AKL. I wanted to when my DBf should leave the hotel. I will be passing MK in about 2 hours after the start for the full.
How often do the buses from AKL to Epcot on those days? Thanks in advance!

Hopefully someone who has participated in the marathon before will also respond but I do know that the busses start running at 3:30 am for participants, I would not think there are busses between particpant transportation and usual transportation for park opening if I am wrong someone please let me know.
In other words if you want them to see you at MK I would have them take last available participant bus to Epcot then get on monorail to MK. I hear the crowds there get very large very quick !!!
I have had much experience with the bus system at Disney (non race time, just visiting ) and it could be at times very inconsistent and could be a time consuming process, I would plan time conservatively.
And my deepest respect to you for doing the Goofy, :thumbsup2 I'm just doing the 1/2 and feel like I am accomplishing so much. :woohoo:
Good Luck to you!!!!

For a guaranteed viewing--he needs to be on the busses by about 5am. Once the race starts--the logjam begins and it is a royal PITA for those busses to get around.
I would suggest he hang (for the full) at the entrance to EPCOT to see you run on in--then take the monorail to MK. (Make sure you confirm with a volunteer or CM which area your color will be entering--red and blue enter at different spots).
For the half--I still suggest the 5am bus time to the start and immediate monorail over to MK.
He will never make it by bus to see you in time. I don't recall the precise moment when they close the roads---but once they do....bus transportation is a royal pain.
He will just need to suck it up and be prepared to be nearly an early bird like you!
(and by 5am, I mean no later than--a half hour or so earlier would be better.)

Thanks for all of that helpful info. Another question:
Do you know if the resort counter service restaurants will be open early to accommodate the runners at 3a-330-ish???

Either a food court will be open, or they will have a snack cart with appropriate pre-race snacks, beverages, and coffee for purchase.
Double check at check in--you can always purchase a bagel or whatever the night before (if that is your pre-race breakfast).
I want to say that they may have even had something for sale (very minimal though) at the staging area...but I do not recall what they had or if it was anything other than just coffee.
