How early to arrive at Calgary airport?

How early should we arrive to get through check-in, security, customs at Calgary? We have a 7:40 flight and will have three kids - 8, 7, and 2.

No later than 6am and that's pushing it. Preferably 5:30. We took a 6am flight to Disneyland once (never again!) and when we arived at 4:50 they were lined up so long we barely made our flight. US customs is notoriously slow for holding up the line. HTH

Customs does not open until 5:00 or 5:30 - so I would check with them as to what time they open. When we flew to LA in October, we had the 6:30 am flight, we arrived at the airport at 4:30 am and ended up having to wait in line for them to open up customs... we could have easily arrived a little later.

Normally for international flights dont you have to be there 2-3 hours before. I know that's how it was at Pearson. :confused:

I was checking the Air Canada website for our own curiousity. It states to or from the US 90 minutes. I honestly do not believe that is enough time unless you are doing what we are doing and printing our boarding passes at home and using the self serve express kiosks. I would definitely say 2 hours for Calgary if going the regular check in but no more than that. Maybe bump it up a bit for the holiday season. With Pearson or terminal changes defintely three.

And it's trial and error, because both times we went to DL, customs was not crowded at all, and we ended up waiting at the gate for quite a while.

It really make a difference when your flight leaves. The DL trips we took were so crowded it was insane. We took the AA flights that leave at 6am. I swear I will never take these again just to save money. :confused3
