Booked FW for 8-15 to 24 but now having change of heart. Do I really want to spend 9 days in my pop up (even though it is loaded with shower, toilet, air and all) or would POP be better. How noisy is it in the campground at night. Worried we'd get a better nights sleep at POP. Any thoughts?

Almost every time I have gone to DW it's been in a pop-up. Noise has never been a problem. Back when they used the trams in FW you could hear them but the busses are much quieter and not a problem. Also most of the other campers are pretty tired when they return to their campsites after a day in the parks so they go straight to bed. If your concerned about traffic noise request a site in the back of a loop where there is less traffic. Believe me, for the extra space and comfort of your own "place" you'll be better off at FW.

To me a pop-up at FW sounds like a lot of fun, much better than a hotel room at POP! You get all the fun of the campground AND Disney World too! We're tent campers and we've been thinking of flying out with some of our gear and camping at FW. :thumbsup2

Any thoughts?

As long as you normally sleep well inthepop up, take the pop up.

Check out my FW page below. All of our FW time has been in a pop up or tent. (OK, I did stay in one of the old trailer homes once)

Have fun

I would go with FW. I have never heard any noise when we have camped at FW. Good luck with your decision!

We love FW. We have never been bothered by noise while staying there.

:confused3 I've never been so I can't answer for sure but... two things came to mind when I read this

first, FW is THE most popular resort for returning guests in all of Disney. There has to be some reason that once guests stay there, they rarely want to stay anywhere else.

second, August is HOT. so, how comfortable will you be in your pop-up? (because you may not be very comfortable using your outdoor living space)

Fort Wilderness is so much fun, it would be my first choice, but it will be really hot in August and it could also be very wet. So I would think about how comfortable you are in your Pop up because it may not be that enjoyable outside.

There is no comparison in my opinion. You have space, a familiar bed, food you can cook yourself and feel better and a place for the kids to be kids. Compared to a glorified motel with fast food as the only real option for food and a cramped space and buses. No way. FW is beautiful and quiet. Never have had problems with noise in all the times I have gone.

We stayed for the first time at FW in a TT the first week of AUG. We loved it. The only noise we heard were fireworks from MK. It was so nice having our own space with our own food even though we did DDP. Our car was right out front and we had a golf cart. Comfort stations were super clean and never busy, same for the laundry. The week before Christmas we stayed at POP b/c we didn't feel like driving w/ the TT & likely couldn't get a site anyway. Every morning kids running up & down the corridor would wake us up EARLY. We were on the 4th floor. We couldn't just grab something from the car. The laundry area was packed, so it took forever for me to do laundry. Now my husband doesn't mind driving the TT to FW. We're headed back to FW in May.
