Hi, I'm new to this site. We rented a villa in Davenport for the last week in March we found on Vacation Rental.com. Has anyone had any bad experience renting a villa? We are concerned about paying in full so far in advance with a private party.

What are your concerns ?If it they are about the ownership of the home then the details can be checked by visiting
http://www.polkpa.org/Main/Home.aspx
where you can search to confirm the ownership of the home you are interested in.

If they are about what to do if you have a problem during your stay then ask for the details of the management company and ask them questions.
Keep in contact with the owner and build up a good line of communication with them -most owners who rent direct are more than willing to answer any questions a guest may have.
I understand renting for the first time requires a leap of faith -especially when you have to pay in advance but the owner of a single unit does not have the opportunity to relet their home if there is a last minute no show as an agency does and so needs to cover costs - but remember the owner is also taking a chance so trust on both parts is essential.
I am sure you will be fine , things will go smoothly and you will have a great vacation but if you have more questions don't be frightened to ask them either of the owner or on here.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure it will be fine too. I just need to reassure DH. Have a safe and Happy New Year! :)
