View Full Version : Where to go for ice cream with my dd's?

Where would you all recommend that I take my two dd's (10 and 6) for an icecream that would make their eyes pop? Not the "oh my gosh this is too huge to eat" kind of experience but more "oh Mom! this is soooooooo cool!" kind?

Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club! Just a quick walk from Epcot's International Gateway!

I vote beaches as well, or if you just want to go to sci fi for dessert the atmosphere is the best!

We took a little flack from our server/babysitter; but we went to 50 Prime Time for desserts at about 3:00 in the afternoon.

If your looking for atmoshere - one of the themed resteraunts is the way to go.

If your looking for "WOW ice cream" Beaches and Cream or Ghiradelli's are good options.

it's not an ice cream shop but my kids love the rainforest cafe at AK, we stop in for the family to split a VOLCANO, great ice cream, brownie and chocolate fudge monstrosity with terrific kid friendly atmosphere in the restaurant (animated animals and jungle sounds)

Beaches and Cream, hands down....just don't order the kitchen sink if you don't want the "wow, I can't eat all of this" experience

I have to add my vote for Beaches and Cream too:)

There's also an ice cream shop on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, but my absolute favorite is Beaches & Cream.:yay:

Just for balance:

We were SO disappointed with B&C. The place was filthy when we were there, we waited 20 minutes for a table at 3:00 in the afternoon, the service was lousy, and the ice cream is Bryers - which I don't buy at home because it isn't very good. We also had burgers, which were very disappointing. And the bill was too high for the quality - even for Disney.

Ghiradelli's was a better ice cream experience, but still not wow. I'll be doing my ice cream at home where I can go to a small batch shop and get great ice cream.

Just for a different response...we have a tradition of stopping at the Main Street Bakery when we first get to the MK for a fresh ice cream sandwich made with two warm chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm it's delicious just thinking about it. You know that smell that they pipe through the streets as you walk by. Try it. You'll love it.

Guess I'll just have to do all three places. One for each park! Does anyone have a favorite for MGM?

Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club! Try the Kitchen Sink!

MGM is definitely Prime Time Cafe. My daughter LOVES a s'more. We usually share one. And a tip if you aren't making a Priority Seating ahead of time - I have called from down by Tower of Terror on the cell phone and made last minute PS's (not during peak lunch time) and gotten them for 10 minutes later - just enough time to walk down to PTC and walk in & sit down!!

Ghiradelli's always seems so busy to us. Hopefully we will have the chance to get a chocolate soda this trip.

If you go off-site, Steak & Shake has awsome malts.

Beaches & Cream is a favorite of many families including ours. However, if the line is really long there (as it often is) go inside the BC to the gift shop, food area where they sell the best gelatto! My DDs would never go to the WDW without a stop (or several) for gelatto. The mango flavor is awesome as is the roasted almond or the raspberry or the chocolate. THey are all great!
