When you use the DDE experience card for 20% off, do you tip on the total before or after the discount?

Just wondering. Thanks in advance.

I have heard that you tip on the pre-discounted total. I will be getting the card, too, so I'd love to see other responses.

We always tip on the pre-discount amount.

The tip should always be figured on your total before any discounts or coupons. That said, you still have the freedom to adjust for excellent or poor service......

Since we normally tip 20% we usually just leave the total amount of the check(adding the 20% they took off back in) So that would be tipping on the total amount of the check before the discount- It makes it very easy for us to just add back in the amount they took off to pay a check.

We also tip on the pre-discounted amount, minus the tax fee. (We never tip on the tax portion of our bill). Agree with previous poster about increasing/decreasing tip based on service.

Always tip on the full pre discount amount. It's not fair to penalize your server because you have a discount.

I also let the discount figure out the tip for me. The discount is 20% so if you pay the full price then you've got a good starting point for the tip. I usually add abit more to it for good service and I rarely take abit away because I rarely get bad service.

For us, we start with the pre-discount total.

The 20% they take off, we add back in as the tip, makes it very easy...

Same here. 20% on the non-discounted total meal (not including tax) cost. (Including any alcohol, of course).

Adding back in the discount is a very convenient way to tip.
