When I made my final payment on our upcoming trip, I asked about wireless access at the campground, the CM assured me that if I had a wireless card, I would pick up the signal anywhere on the grounds of FW. When I called back to get the number for Mike's Bike Barn, I re-asked the same question and was told NO, no internet access available. Has anyone personally used their laptop from their campsite at FW? I only have to download payroll on Tuesday morning while on vacation, and I'm wondering if I'll have to go to McDonalds to do it. Thanks, this is the place to turn to for real answers.

FW has no WiFi. Many have good luck using cellular access cards.
FW does have cable modems providing High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) at preferred campsites.
Requirements: Requires a Local Area Network (LAN) jack (RJ45) on the computer
Price: $9.95 for 24-contiguous hours charged to the room account.
Technical Support: Is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by
calling the Smart City help desk directly at 407-938-HELP.
This high speed internet is provided over the cable TV connections, so it is not available at partial or full hook up sites.

We stayed at the cabins in August and DH had the cellular access card from Cingular. Most of the time he could pick up a signal, but it was very slooooow! He even called Cingular about it and was told that Disney is probably trying to block the signal so they get more people paying for their internet access. Don't think I believe him though.
We were back a couple of weeks ago and stayed at CBR. Same problem. It was very slow.

Thanks! I'll go prepared to do my payroll away from the campground. I knew I could count on the DIS.

There is internet access from the front desk area as well as an "internet cafe" in the room above the check in lanes. The service is free but it is dial up I think.

My Verizon "America's Choice" service was quite acceptable at Ft. Wilderness last month. (Of course work paid for some premium high speed plan and card).

A friend just got back from a Christmas stay at FW. He had so much trouble with the modem and hookup provided by FW that he went to the nearest Sprint store a bought a laptop card and service. He said it worked great. I have the same card and used it at BWV last March and it worked very well there, too.

Can anyone verify that this is dial-up? I don't have dial-up but I have Wi-Fi.

Do you have Wi-Fi or a wireless modem connection? I have a wireless connection but do not have a Wi-Fi card or service from a provider like Sprint or Verizon.

The access from the reception outpost is dial up.

You may want to try the business center at WL or CR.

I have done the trip to the Contemporary Convention Center to use the wireless connection there. It is not bad, but since I got my Sprint wireless card I have been very happy. It gets me high speed access sitting in the camper or, even better, sitting out at a picnic table and emailing friends 'guess where I am' LOL
